This episode seems to fit in with Dina's interview where she states that there is a flashback of herself as batgirl up against a female nemesis. :D I much prefer this title!
Shiva is the name of another DC comics character.... Care to take a bet on them showing up? :)

I don't think a bet is needed ;) She will be showing up. We have also found out that this episode seems to have been moved to the bottom of the list.....

Sounds cool, thanks for the spoilers. I've never read the comics so I'm not sure who this Lady Shiva is but nevertheless I'm looking forward to the eppy. :)

Goto www.google.co.uk or www.google.com and type in Lady Shiva and you get quite a few matches. The pic on the top site doesn't work.

Grrrrrrrr! I can't believe they're calling Lady Shiva Barbara's arch nemesis! That doesn't even make sense! Grrrrrrr, I say again :D

See, this is where I opt out of the DC comics lore. I'm just a TV fan, and this is me being oblivious to the fact that this show is based on a comic book series. :-p Now exactly, who is Lady Shiva?

You can find DC Comics official profile for Lady Shiva here :

So essentially Lady Shiva died in her encounter with Batgirl? I have a feeling the show isn't following comics continuum, eh?

No, Cassandra (Batgirl) didn't kill Shiva. She did, however, beat her--the first person ever to. Cass later left Shiva tied and trussed up inside of a police jail cell. :)
As for the show not following comics continuum....Well, it has yet to follow the comics so far, so why start now, LOL.
This is where it's probably better to not be familiar with the source material. Making Shiva Batgirl's "arch-nemesis" is a waste of a perfectly good character. Shiva's the baddest of the bad--there was definitely the potential for her to be used later on as a real threat and not just a Villian of the Week. I mean, there's a lot of potential in the concept of "the best martial artist on the planet." It's disappointing.
I'll reserve judgement until I see the episode (or, at least, some more spoilers and a promo), but it just seems like such a waste to me. There are other characters who could have worked just as well in this role (like, say, Lady Vic from NIGHTWING or even Poison Ivy).

Completely agree with you Lita :)
And, just for the record, yes I love the comics, but I know they aren't going to stick to it faithfully. But I agree with Lita that it was a waste of a great character to bring Shiva in this way, when it's really her martial arts rep (as 'the best' and 'unbeatable') that makes her cool. Just bringing in the character for the sake of bringing in a comics character and the poor way they're doing it is what annoys me about the whole thing.

Yeah, Cassandra Cain (love your user name, BTW), that's what bugs me, too. I mean the thought of Shiva--someone who's worshipped by death cults--being Batgirl's arch-nemesis is so just so...silly. :)
If the writers really wanted a comic book character to be Barbara's "arch-nemesis" then I really think they could have gone with Lady Vic. She's a woman and she's a martial artist.

Being a fan of Batman novels (not much into comics), I have one that has Lady Shiva in it. The novel is called Knightfall and is a very good read. It entails the introduction of Bane and how he broke Batman's back. On his course of recovery he couldn't find his killer instinct and went to Lady Shiva to instill that into him.
A must read for all Batman and Gotham fans.
