Dear Cap: In both the "Birds of Prey" comic book and on the upcoming TV show, Barbara Gordon, the former Batgirl now called Oracle, is a paraplegic as a result of being shot through the spine by The Joker. My question is: In a world where the Justice League has technology from Krypton, Thanagar, Mars, Atlantis, Paradise Island and God-knows-where-else, why hasn't she been cured? I mean, Batman had a broken back once, and Superman was even killed, and THEY got better! - Babs G., Gotham City
Science is based on measurements. So let's measure all the money Batman and Superman have made and are likely to make for AOL-Time Warner, which amounts to 50 jillion bazillion quadrillion google-hertzes. Now let's measure the money Barbara Gordon made for AOL-TW as Batgirl before becoming Oracle, which comes to $37.25, two pogs and a Slurpee cup.
Oh, oh! The Batman/Superman stack of money fell over and crushed Barbara's back! Now she's a more interesting character capable of carrying her own comic book and TV show, and her stack of money is growing! It's growing so big it's interfering with her spinal column and preventing any alien technology from ever curing her!
