The Batman legend takes an unexpected turn when the Caped Crusader vanishes from the crime-ridden city of New Gotham and his legacy is taken over by a trio of beautiful and relentless heroines – the Birds of Prey. Barbara Gordon (Dina Meyer) started out as Batman’s protégé, Batgirl, but an attack by The Joker left her confined to a wheelchair. Reinventing herself as Oracle, she takes under her wing Helena Kyle (Ashley Scott), the secret daughter of Batman and Catwoman, who quickly grows into the fierce and beautiful “Huntress,” and Dinah (Rachel Skarsten), a teenage runaway who is drawn to the city by meta-human visions. With the help of the only honest cop in New Gotham, Detective Jesse Reese (Shemar Moore), the Birds of Prey fight their first battle against a mysterious madwoman (Mia Sara) who is bent on their destruction. Ian Abercrombie also stars. Brian Robbins directed the episode written by Laeta Kalogridis.
Episode Discussion System - Each week we will have Pre-Episode Discussion and Episode Discussion threads. "Pre" will be posted a week before the episode, in this case the Pilot airs next week so discussion and speculation for it will begin now. The normal discussion thread will be opened when the episode starts airing so that you can discuss what you thought etc.. The "Pre" will then be closed, and a new one opened for the following weeks episode.

Ok, well I know I've seen the unaired pilot, but I havn't seen the final pilot so here goes!
The trailer looked really impressive. And the atmosphere of the city and all looked perfectly as I've always thought necessary.
Additionally, the plot has a very intersting twist on the usual world of Batman (I've never seen any comics about it so. . .).
So Helena Kyle seems like one of those laid back "lets just kick thier buts" type of heroines huh? (But ofcourse, she's the daughter of Catwoman! :) )Thats cool, we need more of those. One of the reason's I liked Smallville so much is because the acting for the main characters were like that and it made it that much more fun to watch!
The way they have Oracle makes me think of her as kind of the "Professor X" of the trio. (Sorry if anyone doesnt want me comparing things like that here). Well she obviously seems like she'd be the brains of thier operations. That's a nice way to format thier operations that I dont see much in shows anymore neither.
As for Dinah, I think she might start out as what i'd like to call "The Padawan Bird" (lol, sorry if anyone doesnt like the Star Wars Pun, Im a solid fan! ). She might not seem like all that much fun to watch for me unless she's touching somebody and learning about them, but I'm sure over time, she'll become nicely elite for future missions!
Overall, I think that the first episode wont be the greatest they'll have this season (i mean especially since they are just dabbing thier feet in the storyline and all it has to offer right now). But I think as I let the show grow in on me, it'll become as good as Smallville to watch if not better (which is really hard to say because it takes a Whole Lot to be better than Smallville no matter what show you are to me!)

Well, I'm excited. I can't wait to see the Pilot ep. I think this show has a lot of potential and I'm pretty sure it will meet my expectations. Pretty soon, I'll be losing Farscape, SG1, and Buffy so I need a great show to help ease the pain. I hope BOP is it.

I'm excited!! Only two more days until the premiere. I love the trailer they have with Helena/Ashley say "I am the weapon." I think it's definitely going to attract a lot of viewers. :)

I think the characters are all going to be doing different things. Barbara's going to direct everyone on what to do. Helena is going to take all the missions (maybe a couple with Dinah). Last I think Dinah will stay in and learn from Barbara but in the series finale she's be reay to kick some butt!
That's my opinion

I need to tape this episode, won't be home. Anybody know if the extra 10 minutes will air before or after the episode?

But, I'm shocked that the local (NYC) news would allow itself to be pre-empted for ten minutes!
