Now that you've seen it, post your thoughts on the season premiere of Birds Of Prey! What did you think? Will you be continuing to watch for the rest of the season or was it the biggest load of crap you've ever seen? ;) All opinions welcome!

I'm not too sure what to think of it just yet. I taped it just in case I liked it and wanted to continue to do so. (not too sure what i'm gonna do) I liked it, don't get me wrong...but it seemed a little slow-moving and mediocre. I dunno, I'm torn on this show. I'll try to watch every episode but I won't be bragging about it to friends. One pointer: more action.

I will definately be watching the rest of the season, and hopefully for many seasons to come. I loved it!!! I love the relationship between Barbara and Helena. Maybe, eventually, Helena will realize that screwed up though her life may be, she's not alone. I loved the end scene, the song was very appropriate. The only thing I don't like, is the panther sound you hear throughout. Great show, great actresses. Can't wait for next wednesday.

Another WB type series. Some flash, occasional decent writing, odd plots, in other words it will have a cult following that is deeply devoted to it. Other than that, I doubt it would have ever made it on any of the other networks. Still, interesting in at times, boring in some, and campy at other times. Hopefully the writing turns around soon and more character development happens. I doubt if I could make it pass 2 or 3 episodes.
Remember, this is just one persons opinion, every show must have it's fans or else it would have never made the air. Right?
Let's hope it gets better...

Thats a lot of what I think about it. Half way through it I thought I was seeing a pattern and it had me thinking how similar it is to other shows.

Hey guys,
What did ya'll think of the pilot? I definately loved it, except I hope Harley's character gets interesting when the show goes on. Of course, this is only the first episode. :) Heheh. I loved the visual effects and 'New Gotham's buildings, totally wicked. The plot was good, definately looks like there may be some tension between Dinah and Helena, who knows? Hope you all liked the first episode, I know I did!

I finally saw the pemiere. I loved it. I was sort of pissed when thre was no opening credits, but alot of series are ding that for the pilot episode. I thought Ma Sara did a good job. Although I didn't see the original pilot, I dd see clips and they were both just as good.
I also noiced some of the stuff that was deleted or changed (from what I saw in the 5 minute promo). It was good either way.

Nathan,
You hit the nail on the head, it is like the other WB shows! No wonder the show looked familiar in it's style.
But you got to admit the CGI of New Gotham was cool looking

I think it already has a cult following, hopefully we're enough to keep it going. The show's still in its infancy, the writing and plots will grow with the show. Most great shows don't start out great, but I'm already sold on this one.

True the writing may get better, but I do wish they would get rid of the campy bits, they really make the show drag.
That's it for me tonight, I've got to take care of my own villians, my kids.

I think my reaction is diluted because of seeing the rough cut of the pilot several times. I want to give it a few new episodes. I like the setting, the girls, and Jesse Reese. He gets to be half naked with Ashley next week, no way I'm missing that. But as much as I like visual pleasure, my enjoyment of the show in the long run will be linked to more than that. I have to see where they are going with the characters. I do like the fact Helena wasn't always a bad girl, that her rebelious streak is a reaction to "mom's" death.

I liked it. I'm definitely coming back next week (Shirtless Shemar Moore? Oh yeah!). Mia Sara was better then I expected. Dina Meyer was great. Rachel SkaIcan'trememberhername really reminded me of a blonde Rose McGowan for some reason. Ashley Scott had some good moments (liked the wink at Det. Reese).
The flashbacks were really good. And I liked the way they filmed the black and white look fro Dinah's pyschic flashes (or whatever you call them).
They can definitely lose the panther growl during the fight scenes though.
Yeah, I'll watch again.
Okay, my thoughts :
There were a few minuses. One was that Rachel seemed uncomfortable in her role, and I'm not sure if that was just her character, or her not being experienced as an actress. She did have some really good scenes, though, and I really liked the way she said "I can," about getting into Helena's head. More confidence, less shy uncertainty, and I'll like her a whole lot more.
The other minus was the replacement of the opening news with Alfred's voice-over. All I can say is : ehhhhhhhhh. Really. I liked the old one, it seemed much darker. The new version in the aired episode (for those who have not seen unaired, the exposition Alfred gave us was originally in the form of a newscast about the take-down of the Joker on the same night it happened, and it was done much better). The shots of Batman and Catwoman and Batgirl and the Joker were a little too rough and quick in that bit, for my taste. So, older opening = better.
Now, on to the positives - this show really, really rocks! I loved how dark it was, in terms of the look and overall feel. A lot of people were saying how Mia Sara could not fill the role as Harley as well as the previous actress, Sherilyn Fenn, but I disagree. Whereas Sherilyn seems like you knew she'd be a bitch, Mia's Harley came across as much more unfeeling, cold and calculating - iron mask she puts up, so she seems like a normal person without the obvious 'I am archenemy' and 'I have villain written all over me'. It was really cool to see her working again, especially with her kick to Ketterly there at the end. Nice villain.
Barbara... what can I say? Instantly just one of my fave characters. She has heart, wisdom, intelligence, and if she keeps up the same emotional level at which she played in this episode, she's going to really shine through in the lead. She has so many levels to play on as Barbara, Oracle, Batgirl, as a friend and teacher and as a wounded young woman remaking herself in the world... it's just great to see her bringing the character to life. I think her best scene of them all was explaining what happened with herself and Batman, while surrounded by the green 3D field, and she looked stunning at the end.
Dinah, I kinda voiced some opinions on above... she needs to tone down the young teenage squealing girl-joining-the-club bit, and I'll like her much better. If she decorates a diary with Lisa Frank bat stickers and starts writing about how dreamy being a superhero is, I'll vomit. If she gets a little tougher with her whole "I'm a youngster, but now I see the world is really gritty and dark", I personally will like the character more.
Helena, I was also impressed with, though I'd like to see more of her real life side and less of her in the costume as a Huntress. What about her place? Her interacting with people at her job? Her just day-to-day actions? Seeing her at the therapist was interesting, but I'd like more. And I'd like to see them get rid of the fugly costume, so yay for the fact that it's been redesigned. Yucky sheer jacket.
Every shot of New Gotham was really cool. It impressed me a lot, though I'd like to see more of the city and less of just the Clocktower. Isn't there anything else that's a big draw?
Quick questions :
1) Did they cut out the "Maybe I'd better go kick some ass" line from the commercials? It seems to me they did.
2) If next episode, Helena has the odd black liny jacket and pants, and in this episode, had the see-through jacket... are we ever going to see the black leather jacket and purple-shiny top from all of the promotional studio pictures?
Overall, the episode was really cool. I think the pacing felt off in the placement of commercials, but other than that, it was really a great start to the series. Thumbs up, BoP.

After seeing tonight's premeire episode, I have to say that BIRDS OF PREY got off to a rather promising start. Obviously, with the need to get the back story out of the way, some parts did seem rushed, and the humor did tend to border on more on the "cute" as opposed to the clever. Also, I can see where folks may see this as very similar to other WB shows. However, there was much to enjoy. Dina Meyer nails her character of Oracle right on the head, while Ashley Scott makes an appealing "bad attitude" heroine as the Huntress. Can't remember the name of the actress playing Dinah, but she was fine. I also enjoyed Ian Abercrombie as the ever-faithful Alfred. The series is very stylish and the production values show. In many ways, BIRDS OF PREY is seen as the dark mirror of SMALLVILLE. I think as the show finds its legs, it will be another hit for the WB. At least on a cult level, if not more. Considering that the WB owns and created this "afer-Batman" property, they will do what they can to make the show a success. I would give the show 3 1/2 to 4 stars out of 5.

Having watched the unaired version about twenty times before viewing tonight, I was a little disappointed by the pilot. The unaired version was better, darker, and move mysterious.
There, the negative is gone. On to the positive:
Dina Meyer is awesome as Barbara Gordan/Batgirl/Oracle. She really embodies the silent hero. She has a range of emotion that I haven't seen in many series. She reminds me of an early Holly Marie Combs (she has the talent, we just haven't seen it this early in the series). Like Holly Marie Combs from "Charmed", Dina is understated, but it's amazing.
Ashley Scott and Rachel are both good, but they were missing a bit in this episode. While it seems that most of Ashley's character was created, Rachel's Dinah seemed out of place. Hopefully they will play of this.
I loved Ian Abercrombie as Alfred! That was a joy, and the relationship with Dina's character was perfect. It reminds me of the Alfred/Batman relationship from the movies.
Reese, a good character. I hope they flesh out the role a bit.
Now, Mia Sara... I thought the other Harley was better, more of a psychopath, but Mia did very well. And obviously she's the bad of the season, so it should be interesting.
All in all, it was okay. There was humor, there was a bit of drama. Not bad for a series opener. Now, writers: keep it up. Better yet, shoot for the stars, and you should do fine. I remember another 2 series that were off to starts like this one, and both have become very popular.

well it was just a pilot. lets hope it gets better. i am curious about the balck canary episode comming up...
i think this show will be funner if there is more batman related elements like old villains or their kids involved.
i dont know how much actual batman the wb can use through character rights and all that, but it would be cool for nightwing to show up.

Oh my Gawd! When is Warner Bros. going to stop killing anything that has to do with Batman? At this point, the only way I can see this show being anything more than a total steamer, would be to bring Paul Dini on as a writer/director. I'm sorry, but Gotham City, New Gotham, whatever...without Batman is just wrong. Harley Quinn as a bad ass crime boss or whatever? Please. The only reason why she even bothered with crime was in hopes that if the Joker one day defeated Batman, she could finally get him to settle down. It's sad. I love Mia Sara. I can't believe I had never thought of her in the role, but she would make a great Harley, if she were playing the real character. This show will simply be another WB marketing ploy for new "music" and a chance to see how many really bad concept villains that they can squeeze into a single show, just like they did with the movie franchise, and what happened to that???.....I really wanted to like this show. Since the animated series is no longer in production and the movie franchise is deader than dead, I was hoping for something truer to our hero. Not Dark Angel meets Dawson's Creek. Paul! Paul, are you out there? Make some calls and try to save this show! Make it so successful that people will be dying to have a new Batman film (hopefully with you writing) and I can be proud to say I'm a Batman fan. Beautiful women without a beautiful story=crap.

WHY????? Please say it gets better! Pullllleeeezzzzzz?IT'S A DISGRACE!
Look, I'm a comic book fan. I'm a comic nerd, more like it. I'm 19. I love Catwoman. Everyone tells me I look like Ashley Scott ('cept I got brown eyes). I REALLY wanted to like this show!
But they killed off Selena! They killed Catwoman! What the F***?!
Okay, guess I can deal w/ that. But when will the huntress get cooler? When will I start liking her? Cause I sure as hell don't like her now.... Such a 2-dimensional character for a live-action show.
Well, actually, maybe she ain't that bad.
MAYBE IT'S THE WRITERS!
:fume: :fume: :fume:
I'm pretty picky w/ what TV shows I watch. I've never gotten into Smallville (Superman's a loser) but I was very much looking forward into getting into Birds of Prey...
But with this kind of writing.....! Please tell me there were others that were not satisfied w/ the pilot!
:smoke:
I'll keep watching for now, hoping that maybe the show will get better in time. Maybe I'm just spoiled with Batman the Animated Series, or Batman Returns and Batman Forever.... but I do expect much more from the legends of the dark knight....
I'll probably get told off for this post
:fight: but please, don't hate me... I'm really just being honest. I WANT TO LIKE THIS SHOW! PLEASE... help me like it. Or just tell me to be patient and that it'll get better in time.

I'm also a comic book fan, and I've always had a special fondness for Birds of Prey. I was somewhat nervous when I heard that this TV series was in the works. I was worried about whether or not they would stay true to the characters that I knew and loved (especially Babs).
Now that I've seen the pilot...I'm even more nervous. I'm not particularly happy with the way they've portrayed the main characters, although it wasn't a total loss. Guess I'll start on a positive note...
I was actually surprisingly pleased with Dina Meyers as Oracle. She definitely looked the part, and turned in the best performance of the three main characters, despite a tendency to mumble inaudibly through some of her lines. Dina has actually read through some of Barbara Gordon's back-story (including Killing Joke, the Alan Moore story where the Joker shoots and cripples Batgirl...good read!) and seems to have an actual feel for who Barbara Gordon is. Tonight's episode was definitely rough around the edges (It's the pilot, gotta give em the benefit of the doubt), but I feel that she could actually grow into the role quite nicely.
The Huntress though...where to begin? They amalgamated two different DC continuities to create this Huntress, and ended up with something completely unrecognizable. I'm wondering if the writers have any idea where to go with this character, since she doesn't seem to have anything in common with either of the two versions of the Huntress that she is based on (other than her parentage). How can the Huntress have meta-abilities if neither of her parents did? And if she is supposed to have a secret identity, why the #%#$!%#^ doesn't she wear a mask? If you got beat up by someone who looked like her, wouldn't you remember her face? I sure would. The villain from the pilot episode recognized her right away. Perhaps she is counting on her opponents being distracted by her vista of exposed cleavage?
And that cheesy panther sound effect needs to go, too.
They also managed to mutilate Dinah Lance (a.k.a. Black Canary) quite a bit. In the comic book, Dinah is a strong, confident, self sufficient woman with plenty of crime fighting experience. She's older than Oracle, for goodness sake! Now they've turned her into a gawky aw-shucks teenage girl with ESP. I suppose they can have her train and learn to fight in later episodes, but I don't know if the actress that they cast could pull off realistic fight scenes. I get a feeling that's not the direction that they have planned for the character anyway. If they were going to change Dinah so much, why not just create an entirely new character?
Bottom line, I really, really want to like this show, but don't know if I can. If they can have Oracle and company face off against interesting villains while they flesh out the main characters, they might be able to buy enough time to really get the show off the ground. Right now it seems to be a somewhat formulaic show designed to sell popmusic CDs. If it can only survive long enough to outgrow that, they might have something...

:D Could that episode have been ANY COOLER? :D
I don't think so. I loved the Pilot! Only person I didn't really get was Dinah, but that's because she's not developed as a superheroine yet. It was fantastico! I really loved Barbara Gordon's character, even though she can't like... walk or anything. Maybe she should get a hoverchair! ;)
I also really enjoyed Huntress and (of course) Dr. Quinzel. I hope everybody gets costumes soon! I liked Huntress' costume. Very stylish. I also liked the scenes where Gordon was in her old Batgirl costume, which was extremely neat-looking. It's just a fabulous show!!

I can understand that some comic fans are upset with the liberties taken with the Batman mythos in this new series. But we have to remember that the WB needs to attarct more then just the comic fans to broaden the series' appeal and give the series any hope of survival. I'm sorry, but that's a fact of the TV biz. (Also, this Huntress incarnation is based on the original conception of the character, when she was portrayed as the daughter of Batman and Catwoman..although in an alternate earth in the comics.) I can quibble about the approach to Black Canary and Huntress, but I do like the dark atmosphere....much better than the Joel Schumacher color and camp fest of the last 2 Batman movies. As a "what if" exercise, BIRDS OF PREY is very interesting and I plan on staying the course. The writing needs to be tightened, and the cast needs to get more comfortable with each other, but that will come with time.

They have witty stuff to say, pretty clothes to wear, and bad asses to kick...
What could be wrong with that formula ;)
No really, I thought it was good.
For a show that is breaking as many rules as they are in the DC comic fandom, they have outdone themselves.
I thought it was pretty good, at least, better than expected.

very disappointed. what's with the meta-humans? if i were a brainless teenager, i would have thought it cool, but as a hardcore batfan, it sucked. as i watched i felt that helene was two-face, because in one scene she was hot and in the next she was hideous!anyway, the joker scenes and even the harly scenes were good, but overall, its 60 minutes of my life that i will never get back

for the most part this appears to be a very promising series....assuming the entire time the show can find it's voice in the next 5 or six episodes. I think we've all seen the potential in some shows that never evolved fast ennough and ended up on the crap heap.
stuff i liked:
they jumped right into story and started with characters that were experienced and confident. too often a series wants to start from scratch with the first episode and we have to follow along for months while the writers re-use crappy scenes with the characters "finding themselves" and figuring out powers and BLAH. that's easy wrinting and takes far too much time.
I liked that they acknowledge batman is still around, bringing the potential for him to guest star. I like that they admit the world is full of meta humans, allowing even more guest starts and potential, and stating right out that this is a unique world that has these types of things available and that the occasional meta human is not an aberrance.
i like the little in jokes to the superhuman world.
what i didnt like:
the flashbacks; i wanted the story to open as a real scene with the final confrontation with the joker, rather than interspersed as flshbacks. the action really wasnt as exciting in slow-mo and the anger and righteous dialog i would have imagined him using was gone. wasted. perfectly good drama just not there.
changing dinah's powers all around. (although that's minor, and i understand ya need a little flash for tv.)
huntress has always been grim; i didn't expect her, however, to be cynical as well.
this pseudo sopranos approach to characters dealing with analysts- a resoanble twist, and justified properly in the script, but jeez. yes, they had to bring harley quinn in somehow, but...
that damn cat growl whenever Helena gets into action. that's terrible. horrible. what is this, Manaimal? Is this 1983 again? crap like that is what has given comci and scifi related shows bad names. the eyes, bad idea with the eyes.
overall, not too bad, i'll give it another few views. ought to be interesting to see how marvel reacts to their hydro man take off

I liked Dinah, I think we need to give her time. Yeah she's sort of a giggly kid, but she's the potential. I'm hoping to see her sort of forced to grow up fast. She could end up being the most shocking development of the season. But Barbara and Wade, could that scene have been any more boring? I wasn't to fond of the "Barbara's on the verge of crying" scenes in the original pilot, but I wish they had stuck with the idea of Barbara cutting ties with the Wade boyfriend. But I love Barbara, she's perhaps the strongest character in the series.

Note that I haven't read the other comments posted here before posting this.
I was one of the lucky ones who had the chance to watch the unaired pilot. Lucky ones? Not so sure anymore since it removed some of the magic of a series premiere for me.
A few scenes were cut others were added. I was screaming when I heard the song they chose for the bus scene with Dinah and Jerry! The song in the unaired pilot was PERFECT and the song in the premiere was just not fitting.
It was nice to see what Oracle does for a living, but that scene didn't have much effect. The scene with the guy and her in the unaired pilot was a bit better and showed a more tormented Oracle. The scene in the premiere was needed to show that she is a teacher and that she must sometimes sacrifice pleasure over her "other job".
They corrected a few bloopers compared to the unaired pilot which is good.
Mia Sara did a better job than I expected. Sadly, they changed some of the dialogue. And I should say also, YAY, they changed some dialogue. ;)
She didn't put enough emphasis on the words when she says "Never send...." during the scene in the cell. It was so great how Sherlynn said it in the unaired pilot.
I was sometimes disappointed in how the actress playing the Huntress acted, sometimes I found it not believable enough :S
In all, I didn't hate the episode nor loved it. I hope that it gets better. I will blame the fact that I didn't like it that much on the expectations the unaired pilot created for me and the fact I prefered the unaired pilot over the premiere.

I thought it was great! Better than I expected. I heard all the bad reviews it was getting, so when I sat down to watch it I didn't think it would be this good.
And about Dinah...I think she's *supposed* to be out of place. She's in a new town, learning about her powers, nearly gets raped and probably gets more excitement in one day than she has in her entire life. She's a teenager, so of course she's excited to get to be a super hero. She hasn't outgrown childhood dreams and moved on into the real world yet. I would've reacted the same way.
I also thought she'd be wussier in the show. I'm glad she's not. I hate wussy psychics...
Alfred was cool. I loved the convo he had with Barb. Although him narrarating(sp?) was *really* corny!
Helena was pretty good. Some of her lines were a bit trite, but perhaps that'll get fixed in later episodes. The complaining about the empty kitchen scene was funny. Reminds me of me.
And where the hell was her leather jacket?!
Did anyone catch the Smallville tie-in? Barb's explaining to Dinah what causes one to be a metahuman when Huntress butts in and says "I hear meteor rocks have a strange effect." I loved that!
So, yeah...It had some of it's suckier points, but I loved it. I'm definitely watching the rest of season. However, I doubt it'll go longer than Dark Angel...People seem to get tired of chics kickin' ass for some reason...
Well I've finally seen it......and to be honest, I preferred the unaired pilot. If only for the music in some scenes, it was soo much better :)
As for the added/deleted scenes, I can understand why they changed them, such as the Barbara-Wade (or whatever his name is) one, as it sets up more stuff for future episodes.
It's a shame they changed the Huntress eye effect to just being for fight scenes instead of a different way of seeing things. Maybe she can do that too and it'll come later...
The voiceover by Alfred at the beginning was a nice touch, that was a good idea in my opinion.
Hmm... Mia Sara... I wasn't convinced by the publicity photos, but I think she'll be ok. She seems more "mad" than the previous actress. In the last scene she seemed like a mad child, whereas in the unaired pilot the actress was more angry than nuts! :D She'll do ok I hope.
Bring on the next episode... maybe it'll be better as it'll have the benefit of less re-filiming etc than the pilot. And plus I haven't seen it before, so there's more to look forwards to. Having seen the unaired pilot, I keep comparing everything to it :)

Hmmm... Harleen Quinzel, I think I have the same signature as you...
What's with there only being one Mia Sara/Dr. Quinzel picture for this, hmm? HMM?
I really, really enjoyed the premiere. I love Huntress' costume... I want to be her for Halloween :D . My question is - when do the other two get costumes? I hope the are just as cool and tight-fitting. Who says you can't fight crime in leather and heels?

Hello everyone. I think this show is off to a good start. I never saw the un-aired pilot, or knew anything else about the show, so it was all a surprise to me. The beginning was awesome, and I loved the ending with Harley Quinn! Very cool.
As for the comic book fans, myself included, there will never be a live action TV show, or movie, that will truly make us happy. It's a "what-if" story, and for what it's worth, I think it's a pretty good one. Chicks kicking ass in tight leather suits is a wonderful thing.
Although, I agree 100% with everyone about the "panther growl" and how horrible that was. I also agree with the idea that the Huntress should be wearing a mask. Just a little one over the eyes would be perfect. (like the comic character wears) Maybe it will be an issue in a future episode...?
Last complaint...I don't really understand how Helena has meta-powers? This show would have been outstanding without her leaping up walls with a single bound....maybe it was Clark Kent who was getting frisky with Catwoman and not Bruce Wayne? (just kidding)
One more thing, about the bus scene:
Holy OASIS song, Batman! That was awesome! Oasis rocks.

I heard somewhere that for everything to fit properly, they made catwoman a metahuman...Or perhaps while she was pregnant with Helena she was involved in a freak laboratory accident with one of her many cats...

That works for me, thanks! Although, I like your idea better. :D

LOL Thank heavens for VCRs!
Something that I noticed but forgot to bring up...Why was the Pilot in wide screen format and will it be like that for the other eps?

I think this series will be in wide screen. A lot of new series are being shot like that, especially if they are more cinema-like. Angel, Enterprise, Boston Public are all shows in wide screen now. It's a nice format, and it's easier on the eyes than the normal 4:3 ratio that TV is normally in. It also makes the series seem more like a movie, which is pretty cool.

My problem is I keep comparing it to the original pilot, but watching it a couple more times, it was a pretty good premiere. But I'm all ready for the next episode where I don't know what's going to happen.
I love Ashley Scott/Huntress, but young inexperienced Dinah is the one I'm looking forward to seeing again. (anyone get confused when talking about a character named Dinah and actress named Dina?)

this premiere was eh which is a 5/10 on my scale. i mean cmon, scaling up walls, leaping like trinity from the matrix. but overall the show was nice n it was koo how alfred opened the show. i hope that the WB does not try to play off smallville n think that the show will do well b/c a show wit a "S" on its chest has done well. Yet, maybe the bat insignia will do well for the WB. who knos?

Well, I do think that the show has established its tone with the rather dark and gritty scenery combined with action a small touch of camp. (And let's face it, BIRDS OF PREY plays like Shakespeare next to Joel Schumacher's gawdawful BATMAN AND ROBIN.) Obviously, there is an appitite for this type of show when one looks at the ratings.

I personally enjoyed the show.....it definetly could have been better but I've seen worse...and I trust that the writting will get better.......but things like this happen with a new show....

It seems like the WB gets a little kick out of the whole superhero deal on there network. Like the electrochick on Angel last night (and Buffy/Angel verse usually deals with Vamps, demons, witches, etc etc., even though they sometimes throw in a robot or something, so I guess it isn't that unusual). Anyway in addition to a mutant chick, Gunn also says something about "Batman makes this look easy." and in another scene electrochick says "what are you? Lex Luthor" something like that. All of this seems like an intentional WB in-joke. And on charmed, the superhero/supervillian thing they did last night, seemed like an intentional play on the new series and Superman Jr.

I thought that the premiere was a good beginning to the story. I enjoyed every minute of it. I guess I'm just a sucker for a superhero story!!:p :p

It was not really mindless dribble, but at the same time it wasn't as intelligent as the unaired version... a few quality scenes were edited out. But it was good. I rewatched it this week and I do have to say that it was a really good pilot, even with the changes.

I thought it was very good show. Other than Charmed I think I am going to start and watch this show now. Someone recommended me to watch it and I did!! It was ok, not one of my favorites, but I can most def. see me watching it again.
I give it a thumbs up!!:D

Did the re air of the Pilot tonight seem a little different to anyone else or is it just me?
Frostbite

Of course it was different. It's about 15 minutes shorter, so they snipped through some of the scenes.
Yeah they took out stuff and added little things like a look here and there. But they should have done a little re editing I agree. But it was still good. I think I watched the first ep one too many times. I know it by heart now!
The first time I saw it I did not like Dinah but I do now.
Also wow they cut the end part with Helena and Barbara on the clock tower!

I should've known that. And I think I missed the first few minutes of the Pilot when I first saw it so that could be another reason it looked different. But anyway I'm off to bed everyone have a good Thanksgiving!

Okay I have a favor to ask you guys. I'm home for Thanksgiving break this week and my mom is a big fan of Survivor so she made me choose. I either got to watch the Pilot episode so she could watch Survivor at 9:00 (we have satellite and it comes on two different stations at two different times) or I got to watch Lady Shiva and she got to watch Survivor at 8. Well I think its obvious that I picked Lady Shiva so I was wondering if anyone taped the slightly different version of the episode and could make me a copy of it. I'm willing to pay if anyone can help me out. Thanks.

Every time I try looking for the Pilot episode on the internet, all I get is the unaired one, with the news reporter opening, and Barbara breaking up with Wade instead of just meeting him.
tvfanatic, if you're still in need, PM me. If not, no harm, no foul. :D
Anyone recognise just what they cut out of the pilot episode last night?
Frostbite

I only saw the last few minutes, so the only cut I caught was that in the Larry Ketterly scene, the camera shows Dinah in front of the door saying "I can." The cut that part out and dubbed her voice in the other camera angle, if you can understand what I mean by that.

They cut out the last scene with Barbara and Helena on the balcony. I think that Helena had asked Barbara if she missed being able to run across the rooftops. Wasn't there missing dialogue from Helena about "it being hell on your nails"?
Neptune's Rose

Yeah they did cut that scene out.
They also cut the part when Larry makes Helena tea and asks her if she's trying to protect him.

I thought that the pilot was pretty bad, besides from strong acting by Dina Meyer and the Batman/Joker flashbacks it was kinda boring and the acting sucked, Rachel Skarsten was annoying(she still is), Helena was totally unlikable and Reese a walking cheese-fest "something happens in this city when the sun goes down".

For me, the Joker bit in the introduction really struck a chord, and stood apart from the rest of the episode. The emotional side of predator and prey, inside the bowels of Gotham City, with psycho-slashers like The Joker possibly lurking around every midnite street corner. Brought back memories of X-Files episodes. . . Be very afraid.
Other pilot positives perhaps I think, the look and feel inside of the clocktower itself, which helps to give BoP a distinctiveness. Unsure where this line-of-thought is going yet, I need to see more episodes of Mutant X first. . .
Attention also seems to be given to lighting effects and maybe camera-angles too. It's not as blatant though, as how the entire movie screen turns green whenever The Riddler makes an appearance, or blue with Mr. Freeze. Some scenes do seem to have a movie-like touch to them.

The pilot was okay, but it definitely had some holes in it. I mostly blame Brian Robbins' directing. He should simply stick to creating shows and producing.
