The Future of Birds of Prey Online - IMPT

Hey, loyal fans! Ted here to give everyone an update on what's going on with the site now that the show has concluded its run on The WB network.

Lisa and I got together to discuss what we wanted to do with the site and what fans want and pretty much saw eye-to-eye on everything, fortunately. ;) We both feel that shutting down the site now would be a bad decision just because it appears that the show is gone for good. Speaking for myself -- and no doubt for many others who watch and post here -- just because the show has stopped airing doesn't mean I stop being a fan. Why shut down what can be a great resource just because no new episodes are going to air? We both feel the site should remain for people who are looking for news, information on the episodes, some media (which we hope to expand), etc. Some things will change, however, as is to be expected.

At this point in time, I am the person who provides most of the "content" for the site -- episode guide updates (transcripts, music, guest cast, trivia, etc.), crew/cast information, the schedule -- and realistically, the demands of a full-time job in the real world have prevented me from putting the time into the site that I used to put into it last fall. This, coupled with the fact that the show is over, means that updates to the site will not be as fast and fervently done as in the months of October, November, etc. There are no new episodes to plan for, so the updates will be a little slower. Transcripts used to go up the day after the episode, but will now probably go up at a pace of one or two a week, until all are completed. Some sections of the site will be revamped and a new design will be introduced, just to spice things up for everyone. Things like music and trivia will be updated and completed (only two or three songs seem to be missing now!).

The primary focuses of the site from this point on will be :

- To provide a continued resource for fans of the show to get information on the cast, crew, and the thirteen episodes that have aired.
- To provide up-to-date news (where available) about some of the actors' next pursuits, as well as any possible future of Birds of Prey.
- To serve as home to a virtual series, continuing the adventures of the Birds of Prey for fans to read.

Given there will be less coming from the production studio to keep fans satisfied, we may branch out to get more content from the fans themselves -- wallpapers, fan fiction, etc. -- but this is not yet decided upon.

We are very desperately looking for someone who can make high-quality screen captures, as the person we had unfortunately was not reliable. If you can help, please let us know!

As more news on the site comes to change or somehow requires an update, one of us will post to let you know about it.

I'd be willing to help out with screencaptures. I'm in the process of downloading all of the episodes from KaZaA, so I only have a few eps on hand at the moment, but I'm planning to download the rest soon.

i think that's great to stay on even if there are no more eppies. i love this site and have met a lot of great people that i love to talk too. i mean half the time a come back to the site not just for bop but the other stuff to. to see if doc and sgh have decided not to put up with me anymore and what they decided to do to me this time, wheter kool-aid, or snow. to take a walk done memory lane and talk about all the shows we used to watch when we where little, of course to play a litte trivia, at which i am the self proclamed queen. and when you go done to your delphi and you got a pm-that must be the greatest feelin in the world. keep of the great work and if there's anything i need to do just pm me.

I'm glad you enjoy posting, msugirl85. By "site" I am referring to the website, Birds of Prey Online. This is the forum which is attached to the site. ;) When I talk about updates to the site, or the fate of the site, I am not referring to this forum (though it is sticking around as part of the site).

Lol, thanks! No, not everybody talks to Lisa, I know. Unfortunately my business in the last two months has kept me from taking the active part I wish I could've taken in the forums and the site. Thankfully Lisa's been here and she's very capable. :) But when even Lisa starts giving credit to other people for the work I *can* do, I break down and weep for days. Give a guy his pride! Poor Lisa just doesn't respect me. :(

I am sooooo glad to hear you will be continuing to update the transcripts etc....I think it will help with the let down after the end of the show. Over on the Dina Meyer website we were saying how it's at least good that she (and the others) weren't part of some fast-fading meaningless sit-com, but rather part of a legendary family of superhero flicks...i'm not sure what i can do, but i've got a lot of time on my hands, so let me know how i can help you out.

Greetings all. Although this is my first post here in New Gotham, I'd like to offer my services in any manner that is needed. I ask nothing in return. I do have several different computer tech skills including seven different languages. Yet I only know how to speak English... Sorry bad joke. Anyhow, I am a Birds of Prey fan like all of you and am saddened at the recent turn of events. I've been doing my part even prior to joining officially. I've mailed a total of seven comics already and have left close to a dozen messages (between voicemails and emails). I posted feedback on the WB site as well. I'm glad to be a citizen here and will be checking in daily if not hourly to speak some thoughts. A little background on me... I've been a Batman reader since the early days and have seen all films and TV shows (including Batman and Robin unfortunately) and while I don't know every obscure fact, I'm good for a useless fact or two... I worked in a video store for a good period so movies are quite a hobby of mine. Anyways, I'm glad to be here and will do my part to save the BOP. Feel free to drop me a line anytime. Now...let's keep the Birds flying shall we?

My god! You guys are like one of those functional families that I used to see on TV (my one true friend). I really can feel the love in the room and it burns alot (ya know like sun lite).Anyway I know I'm new here (like two days old)but I think the show may have a chance at returning to TV. Remember Baywatch was canceled by NBC and still lasted another 500 years (where the hell is Hasselhoff when you need him). Yes I know it sounds like crazy talk but, you can't give up hope. Besides tere are still some real networks looking for shows out there. Plus if it gets picked up by someone like CBS and shown after survivor you'll remember this wakko with the shiny green ring wasn't so crazy after all. So lets take the revolution to the heavy hitters that can give the show the respect it deserves. C'mon people who's withme?

You have a damn good point. I've seen it on TV twice though. Ashliegh Banfield gave hers away on air on MSNBC and Lisa Gerraro at FOX sports net did it while showing hilites of the Raiders vs Broncos veterans day monday night game. So it does happen just not that often and it's only if she's drunk or bragging that she kept her looks without medical help. You know what I mean.

Sliders started out life in BOP's position:


It was cancelled by Fox after less than a full season.
It had fallen victim to production problems; in Sliders's case, the producers were feuding with Fox (Fox wanted extensive retooling to allow for more action-adventure. They also wanted more stand-alone eps so that the show could be aired out of sequence. It goes without saying that this did not sit very well with TPTB).
It was deemed "too expensive" to produce.
The show had been out of production for a long time -- a year! -- before it was revived.


Sliders was resurrected ... and BOP can be as well.

Speaking of music videos, I have some more ideas:

Sorry gl2813 but this is the english that all schools teach, until your school. They never teach you the idioms that everybody use to speak... What can I do?

If you learn to speak spanish very well, you are goingto have a lot of problems trying to understand younger people here, they complete change the meaning of the words and play a lot with them. For example, the cob is the cob, but here the cob is used to say teeth too... why? I dont know...

Any way... the only problem to be compared with Yoda is that I'm not green.... :D

7.-Put in your room a BIG BOP pic.

8.-Never forget send a mail to WB and all the other networks at less once a day.

9.-Never forget send at least once a week a cover of comic to the address in main page.

10.-Be here every day at least five minutes. :D

Resurrecting the thread.

I know this is sort of pessimistic, but IF we never get the show back, and never get a DVD, what is to become of this site? All good things come to an end, and I'd just like to be prepared for the worst. From a financial perspective, there is no sense keeping the site up after a year has passed. I just don't want to be surprised when this site crumbles.
