A good reason for Batman to come back. if Azrael became evil again:

Azrael info, for those who don't know who he is:

Real name: Jean Paul Valley
Occupation: Crimefighter
Base of Operations: Gotham City (hopefully he still lives at New Gotham)

Marital Status: Single
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blond

Jean Paul Valley's training as a killer began before he was born. While still in the womb, his brain and blood chemistry were altered by scientists who belonged to the centuries-old Order of St. Dumas, giving the fetus the potential for great strength and agility. After his birth, Jean Paul was subjected to "The System," a combination of physical training and hypnotic suggestion designed to make him an infallible terrorist and murderer, and the obedient servant of The Order. Putting on a costume, and using the name "Azrael" triggered his extraordinary abilities.

A few months after his twenty-first birthday, he saved the life of Batman. Batman, acting as Bruce Wayne, gave him a job and began to wean him from The Order's conditioning. When Batman was disabled, he chose Azrael as his successor. But Azrael was too unstable to deal with the dangers and responsibilities of being Batman, and, reverting to his conditioning as a mindless assassin, killed a man. This forced Bruce Wayne to come out of retirement and reclaim the mantle of the bat.

Batman profoundly mistrusted his one-time protégé. But after Azrael performed several acts of courage and compassion, Batman realized that Azrael had, at last, overcome the psychological damage done to him in early childhood, and accepted him as a trusted aide. Azrael's services were particularly valuable during the months following the earthquake that decimated Gotham City, when he proved himself to be nearly the equal of Batman.

Wouldn't it be cool if Batman did come back, just imagine The Huntress meeting her father for the first time, brings tears to my eyes...:(

sadly i can't see the bat coming back any time within the first few seasons, the rights to batman are tied up in BIG money... i think the producers would be insane however if at some point they didn't use the azrael character in some capacity, hes one of the coolest characters still kicking around gotham and the flashbacks in that episode alone would be awesome...can you imagine the azbats suit on a real actor...sorry i think i have to go clean myself up a bit...

a re-union between helena and bruce would however make one of the coolest season cliffhangers in the history of TV. especially if he was played by keaton...oh god, there i go again, sorry i really have to go now.

It would definitely be a must see episode if Batman was to come back. I'd be glued to the TV:)

Hi darke2099

What a great idea for a cliff-hanger, Helena meeting Bruce for the first time - What a cool cliff-hanger that would be ! :)

Hopefully they'll do that later on, they'll have to do it
It's just a matter of time, especially with the upcoming Batman movies being made/in production.

Yeah, it'd be an amazing episode if that happened! :D

i guess the big issue here is that it is pretty unlikely that the bat will be back any time soon. unless of course the movie franchise of batman suddenly dissappears. generally it is seen as a bit odd if you have two different actors playing the same part at any given time in different mediums (film and Tv) and it is highly unlikely that they could get the actor from the films to play the character on tv for a massive pay cut. the only way that i can see Birds getting around this is that it is set in the future (a bit) so it is bruce at a different time. i personally would like it if they went back to one of the old actors who have played him. eg. keaton also the direction that the films seem to be taking are making batman even younger (the rumours of colin farrel and josh hartnett in batman Vs superman for example) so i don't know what they would end up doing...

as to a plausable storyline for why he's come back...this is interesting...
Ok, the joker is still around and has been incarcerated for seven years...(though i get the impression that it aint in arkham) hence, in many ways, the city has been safe. maybe all of harleys machinations come to a head and the joker busts out. then the bat MUST come back. they are the dueling opposites, the twin sides of a coin. the bat returns from his enforced absence (which is finally explained) and finds his city in good hands, though i doubt that any meeting with helena is going to run smoothly... though the reunion with barbara would be interesting.

something else i think i'd like to see would be some communication from bruce to oracle on occasion, just to let us know he's ok. or maybe, some more explanation that he's disappeared and han't been in contact since then.

this episode (or two parter) is the kind of thing that would make for absolutely unmissable TV. i just wish i could write it. Anyone know how to?

the darkeness...;)

I agree that an on-occasion reply from Batman to Oracle would be very cool for the fans! She could say out-loud, "OK Bruce--I will keep you updated with the Commissioner's happenings. Be safe out there and get back soon." Then Helena sneaks up behind Barbara and asks, "So how's Daddy?"----Sweeeeeeeet! I wanna write a show.

Personally, I doubt that Bruce has been or will be in contact with Oracle. Or, sadly, even Alfred.

It would be great to see him come back, though. Just not for a long time. Let Huntress establish herself first. Perhaps even let Dinah come into her own a little bit.

I also rather like the idea of the Joker finally breaking out and causing absolute chaos in New Gotham. Oracle, Huntress, Dinah, and Reese can only do so much. So perhaps at the season final, everything is going to hell in a handbag, everyone is exhausted from fighting so much, and then Batman suddenly appears out of no where and begins to help out. Perhaps the episode could either fade out on Batman's emotionless face as he stares at Dinah, Huntress, and Reese while they stare back at him in shock.

That would definitely bring me back for the next season! :D

Sweet idea AngelQueen. I like that. All Hell's breaking loose in New Gotham with fires breaking out and smoke everywhere. Then they switch camera angles to a small figure w/ a blowing cape perched atop a gargoyle high atop a tower monitoring our 3 heroines' activity and plight. Camera closes in on a close-up of Batmans eyes madly squinting. You hear a 'whoosh' and he descends down into the night air appearing to fly into the chaos of battle. Yeeaaaaaah!
