Beginning with June's issue #56, BIRDS OF PREY will have a new creative team, as Gail Simone (Agent X) makes her DC Universe writing debut, joining forces with Ed Benes & Alex Lei (SUPERGIRL) on the series.
"BIRDS OF PREY is a dream assignment for me," says Simone. "Black Canary and Oracle have been two of my favorite characters for ages, and writing them is just dangerously fun. No matter what else, the readers are promised a good, noisy time. Our goal is to make the most entertaining DCU book we could, and we think it's going to be hot!"
"Gail's witty storytelling and powerful scripts are an artist's dream," says Lysa Hawkins, editor on the series. "At the same time, Ed's and Alex's work just gets hotter with every page. I am thrilled to work with this creative, lively team. And if Black Canary and Oracle aren't enough for you, just wait until Huntress> ...> well, that's another story."
Issue #56 presents a tricky legal and ethical dilemma as the Birds show mercy to a would-be white-collar criminal. That act of compassion brings them to the attention of master extortionist and one-time super-hero Savant, a man who claims he can outwit Oracle and outfight the Canary> ...> and can prove it!
BIRDS OF PREY #56 will be solicited in the April issue of Previews (Volume XIII #4), and is scheduled to be in stores on June 25.
