I found two sites that reported Birds got a full season

The WB Network has given a full-season pickup to Do Over, its back-to-the-future sitcom, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The netlet has already picked up a full season of its fledgling Birds of Prey series.

Oct 15: Birds Gets Full: The WB has also asked for a full-season of their hot new series, 'Birds of Prey'.

Can anyone confirm this officially?

I haven't heard anything, but if it came from sci fi.com then it probably is true. Woo hoo!!!:D :D

Yep, probably is fairly reliable if it's from sci-fi. Yay! :)

Trust me, I feel very stupid lol The Scifi.com tidbit is worded HORRIBLY.

"The WB Network has given a full-season pickup to Do Over, its back-to-the-future sitcom, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The netlet has already picked up a full season of its fledgling Birds of Prey series."

I assume, now I may be wrong, that by "The netlet has already picked up a full season", they mean that The Hollywood Reporter think that its a done deal and have no doubt the show will get picked up....

I may br wrong, but I think thats what it means. Though if you read it fast like me and jump up and down then you may get the wrong idea.

We have been informed, as I posted, that it won't be until November sweeps that The WB make a decision on this. We will let you know as soon as we have confirmation.

Oooh.... feeling of deja vu here. Sounds like Dark Angel all over, 3rd season confirmed and then suddenly cancelled!

Don't say that. The WB has put a lot of money into Birds and it's not one of the big 4 networks, I don't think they'd bail as quick as FOX would. Besides, Birds hasn't been on as long as some of there other NEW shows and they're just getting full season orders.

And considering Firefly isn't performing even at the Dark Angel level (or so I hear) on the ratings scale, I don't think the WB will be quick to mimick FOX.

They'll pick it up. The WB has too many shows that are struggling and/or entering their last season (Dawson's Creek for example) to *not* give BoP a chance.

With Dawson ending this season the WB will need something. Birds of Prey is a good move for them. I think after episode three the picture will be much clearer, see if their ratings stay stable. But I would think the network would renew. I think they'll just keep us all waiting.

Gah...But I can't stand the tourture. Just renew and let me get some sleep without worrying about it. (Now I'm getting bad Dark Angel fan flashbacks)

Again, I think the WB knows that they don't have a lot of "cult" shows left in their roster anymore, Dawson's Creek is ending, Charmed is in its fifth season (and much as I love it I don't know how many more they can get out of it), 7th heaven is *how* old?, they lost BtVS, and Angel still has yet to find its audience, beyond the Buffy fans. I mean, they need shows. Gilmore Girls and Smallville can't carry their net, and that's only one night of programming.

BoP has too much potential for them to can it.

On a typical wednesday night at 9 p.m. BoP is competing against West Wing, Simpsons, and The Bachelor. Even though BoP is not getting the tv ratings that's expected. WB needs a show to compete against those three and BoP has the potential to fight for those ratings for that wednesday night.

And if you think about it, BoP is perfect for that timeslot, because it can attract the viewers from UPN who watch Enterprise, as well as pick up those who don't want to watch the West Wing or the Bachelor.

. It's not that I'm *really* worried, but you know, the Dark Angel experience was tramatic. On one hand, there's the logic (which you all have presented), on the other hand there's the Dark Angel memory - don't get hooked, they'll take it away. I'm not really going to worry about it though.

I'm feeling your Dark Angel pain...'cause I love "Firefly" and every week I'm sure that they're going to can it....

Firefly fan? Welcome to FOX's killer timelslot (I'm not saying it to be mean, I have nothing against firefly). At least Dark Angel got two seasons, but it didn't start out in the timeslot of death either. Maybe you'll get lucky and FOX has learned it takes time to build a following in such a killer timeslot.

I really want to check out Gina Torres in an episode of firefly, but I either a) feel illogically disloyal turning to FOX or b) just forget it's on @ 8pm Friday because I'm doing something else.

I don't hold out a lot of hope for Firefly, even though it's a good show with good characters (and Gina Torres is fabulous!) but that timeslot is going to kill it. It keeps getting preempted for things, and the ratings suck. I'm hoping it just makes it till Christmas!

Preemptions, Dark Angel had that problem too. Stupid FOX making the same mistakes all over again. And making them right at the begining too. I really should at least tape an episode (after all I watched several crappy episodes of Cleopatra 2525 just to see Gina Torres and I can tell FireFly's better than that), but I'm like "I won't know what's going on." I'll try to remember to watch it this Friday, not that it will count since I don't have a neilson box or anything. But I want to watch an episode.
