Got a question, is Batgirl worth getting?
The only two dc titles I get is Birds of Prey and Batman (Husk cause I'm a sucker for Lee's art) and was debating picking up Batgirl.

The monthly series with Cassandra Cain or Year One with Barbara Gordon?

Actually both, lol, though I wasn't really thinking about Year One when I posted this. For some reason Cassandra Cain interests me.

TPB's, cool, they are the best for me probably. :) Get a lot in one book.

I would HIGHLY recommend Batgirl Year One for anyone who is a longtime fan of the original Batgirl, its a MUST read.
The new Batgirl on going series is REALLY well written, though the cartoony art gets on my nerves.
If you think Cassandra is intersting now just wait .... we just discovered in the last few issues that "Killer Cain" is Cassandra's real father, not just some guy that adopted and trained her like everyone first thought and Batman (that BASTARD) knew it and tried to cover it up.
I have a funny feeling that I know who might turn out to be her mother, though I will keep that under my hat for now.

Excuse my realtive Batman-dumbness but who is Killer Cain?
The fact is I'm just begining to get into Batman comics. Mainly cause Birds of Prey interests me and I'm getting Batman cause of Loeb and Lee. But I am willing to give others a shot :)

Not dumbness at all Dina.
Killer Cain is an asassin, debatably the worlds best (according to him) thought I'm sure Deathstroke would like to have a word on that subject.
Here is his write up from the DC Comics Secret Files:
Real name: Unknown
Occupation: Assassin
Base of Operations: Mobile
Marital Status: Single
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 245
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Gray (originally black)
First Appearance: BATMAN #567 (July 1999)
If you want to kill someone, hire a hitman. If you want to kill someone closely guarded, utterly secluded or completely untouchable, get Cain.
David Cain is one of the world's premier assassins, taking out some of the most famous and powerful people on the planet, no matter how seemingly impossible the task.
Exceptionally meticulous, Cain's success can be partially attributed to his painstaking preparation, always planning far ahead for any contingency: hence his decision to train someone to be his partner and eventual successor. Several attempts failed before he succeeded in acquiring a child who, at an extraordinarily early age, showed stunning physical prowess -- the female who would one day become Batgirl.
Naming her Cassandra, Cain trained the young girl in every imaginable form of violence, from hand-to-hand combat to weapons and explosives. To further her skills, Cain never taught her how to speak; instead, physical movement became her language --she learned to read a person's body language as well and easily as other people can understand speech. This skill led Batgirl to be able to predict exactly what her opponents were going to do, sometimes before they knew it themselves.
Batgirl left Cain immediately after performing her first assassination, shattered by the experience of ending another person's life. Cain was surprisingly devastated by her disappearance and has never been the same since. He has never quite given up hope that someday she might return to his life.
If you would like info on the rest of the Bat Family of Charactors go to DC Comics:

Hit Secret Files in the top tool bar and then hit Batman.

Actually another character that interests me is Azeral! But I really don't know much about him cept his is a hard-ass who isn't afraid to get violent (am I right about that?).
Kinda bugs me that Batman trusts Azeral and the new Batgirl but doesn't Huntress, lol. But then again I don't know a whole lot about the batverse and these are newbie

Azreal ... Just ended is own title with issue 100 and may or may not be dead.
Batman has just as many reservations on Azreal as he ever did on Huntress, but like Huntress so long as he never crossed the line Batman basically put up with him. In the final few issues it was basically Batman that brought him down.

Here is the write up for Azreal:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Real name: Jean Paul Valley
Occupation: Crimefighter
Base of Operations: Gotham City
Marital Status: Single
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blond
First Appearance: BATMAN: THE SWORD OF AZRAEL #1 (October 1992)
Jean Paul Valley's training as a killer began before he was born. While still in the womb, his brain and blood chemistry were altered by scientists who belonged to the centuries-old Order of St. Dumas, giving the fetus the potential for great strength and agility. After his birth, Jean Paul was subjected to "The System," a combination of physical training and hypnotic suggestion designed to make him an infallible terrorist and murderer, and the obedient servant of The Order. Putting on a costume, and using the name "Azrael" triggered his extraordinary abilities.
A few months after his twenty-first birthday, he saved the life of Batman. Batman, acting as Bruce Wayne, gave him a job and began to wean him from The Order's conditioning. When Batman was disabled, he chose Azrael as his successor. But Azrael was too unstable to deal with the dangers and responsibilities of being Batman, and, reverting to his conditioning as a mindless assassin, killed a man. This forced Bruce Wayne to come out of retirement and reclaim the mantle of the bat.
Batman profoundly mistrusted his one-time protégé. But after Azrael performed several acts of courage and compassion, Batman realized that Azrael had, at last, overcome the psychological damage done to him in early childhood, and accepted him as a trusted aide. Azrael's services were particularly valuable during the months following the earthquake that decimated Gotham City, when he proved himself to be nearly the equal of Batman.

I was actually going to get that last issue but haven't, lol.
Jean Paul Valley, that has to be the perfect comic name, lol.

I also think that one of the reasons that Bruce accepted Azreal was becuase Leslie Tompkins (the doctor in the bat books) really thought he was worth saving.
If you going to get the last issue, I would recommend you get at least the last 3 so you get the full storyline.

Thanks again!
Isn't there like a character in the Batgirl comic (the new one not year one) were there is another hero who Batman doesn't trust?
Thanks, i'll probably go to the comic shop tomorrow or later this week and I'll see if they still have the last 3!
Thanks again!

Steph / Spoiler ... and its not that he doesn't trust her its just that he feels ... she ain't got what it takes to join the family business.
Here is her info:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Real name: Stephanie Brown
Occupation: High School Student
Base of Operations: Gotham Heights
Marital Status: Single
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 110
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde
First Appearance: DETECTIVE COMICS #647 (AUGUST, 1992)
Only Stephanie Brown knows exactly why she dons the purple and blue costume of the Spoiler to prowl the street of Gotham Heights in search of adventure. Is it the rush of adrenaline? The thrill of teaming with the boy wonder Robin, for whom she does little to conceal a crush?
Or perhaps in some small way to redress the sins of her father, Arthur Brown, the criminal Cluemaster? Whatever the reason, the Spoiler's activities as the unofficially sanctioned vigilante of Gotham's suburbs would certainly be called to question by Gotham's true guardian, the Batman himself, if he knew just how often Stephanie has rushed into the fray, either solo or along side the Dark Knight's own apprentice. But it may be only a matter of time before Spoiler realizes Robin's secret fear: that she might get in over her head and encounter a menace which she lacks adequate training or technique to overcome.

Dina ... I don't know what area you live in, but go to a local comics shops and ask questions, I'm sure they will be happy ro recommend some great reads for you. Most comic shop owners are 99.9 % of the time comicbook junkies themselves.
And NO they aren't as obnoixous as the comicbook guy on the Simpsons ...... and if they are, just walk out screaming .... WORST COMIC SHOP EVER ! i'm sure they will get the joke and be suitably insulted.
