Is it me or did this show really move into the relationship business way too fast?

I mean from the first episode Barbara is already dating whatshis name. And there are already signs of a Hellen and Reese connection. I thought this was weird. Normally new shows gradually move towards relationship themes after a few episodes. This show just dived right in.

Speaking of relationships.... What do you guys think about Barbara and Wade? (I think that's his name?) Do they make a good couple? Do you think it would work out between them?

IMO: I don't think it's going to last. For some reason I can't see Barbara and Wade together. He's totally wrong for her. She lives this dangerous, adventureous life and he's kind of a bore. I think they she hook up Barbara with someone who might have a history that is similar to hers so that they could have something in common that's on a personal level. I mean Barbara even said that she hates having to lie to him all the time. Not to mention she's always disappearing on the poor guy.

I agree...They're moving these relationships along too fast. Dark Angel did that, and left them with no relationship plotlines, other than infect Logan with an anti-Max virus (which was lame.) I hope theWB doesn't make the same mistake.

I felt that they did a better job showing the trustbuilding between Helena & Reese. The Barbara/Wade thing moved way too fast. For one thing, I felt that the writers sort of stayed on the surface by making the main relationship issue parental rejection. Personally, I would have done a lot more with that little statement Wade made about wanting to take care of Barbara. I would imagine that she would feel the need to make certain that he wouldn't always be overcompensating for her or trying to overprotect her. That would take some working out.

Also, they were in the sack too fast. It seems to me that it would have taken a lot for Barbara to get to that level of vulnerability with Wade. Vulnerability can feel a lot like dependence. I would think that would be an issue for someone as independantly minded as Barbara who is struggling with not wanting to feel dependent because of her disability.

I actually feel that the Barbara character on the whole needed much better development. I had held out hopes that this would have happened in subsequent seasons.

Couldn't agree more with everything you said, SamIAm, except that I had hoped they'd develope the character more from the second episode.

Oh, definitely--but they didn't...and sometimes, it takes a season or so before a show starts to come together. Look at the first season of Star Trek TNG, where Commander Reiker's chest preceeded him by about 3 feet into every room and Counselor Troi had that awful and seriously wierd costume, and Wesley whined all the time, to name just a few things. That show didn't really hit its stride until further down the story line. Then, you had good character development and interesting plots. I had held out the same hope for this show--it had so much potential, especially where character development was concerned. It's really a shame they canceled it before it got a fighting chance to mature.

I have to agree also, I thought it was wired to have Barbara and Wade get that close that fast. There are other way they could have show them getting closer...

I never liked Wade. He's too nosey to understand Babs' secret. The writer should've use Nightwing/Dick Grayson or Blue Beetle/Ted Kord(alias bumblebeeb.com),but no the jerks at the WB studios want to make a bat film, but their not.

I think the Helena/Reese relationship went a little too slow. I respect the WB for making Barbara and Wade thing go a little faster than usual, usual for secret identity shows, one is in a relationship and they have to keep a major secret from the person they love. I mean, Charmed, Alias, Smallville, bla bla bla. They needed a character to have that problem. Who better than Barbara?

Wade was hot, but too boring of a character! Barbara needed someone to spice things up a little more!
