Calling all Boppers!!!I, as well as some of you I have spoken with have e-mailed "Wizard" about the Birds of Prey. What some of you may or may not know Wizard had a feature article on BOP all set to go, but it was scrapped when the show was cancelled(Damn you again Levin). Since I have yet to receive a reply from Mr. McLauchlin I figure we should send a few thousand e-mails to their sight requesting the article, or better yet assistance with our campaign.
I might suggest the following:
1. First of all be polite. The Wizard gang is a strange bunch and may not react kindly to ranting.
2.Mention who you are and that you are part of the BOP campaign and what it is.
3.Invite them to the website to see what we are all about.
4.Mention that you read they had a BOP article set to print but had to pull it when BOP was cancelled. And that you would still love to see it in print.
5. Ask if they could possibly re-write the article and incorporate the campaign in order to assist us.
Here is the e-mail and snail mail address.
Mr. James McLauchlin

Didn't you and I have this convo already? Jimmy Mac doesn't usually reply outside of print (i.e. Magic Words), so good luck! He is also doing some writing chores for a new comic title. No help from him, no plug for him. That may be taking up time he could have spent replying to our e-mails. As to date, he has not responded OR printed any of my e-mails, and I send him 1 per week. 2 if I'm really P.O.'ed about something. We sure could use everyone's help with this though. Right, DOC?

Yes DC we most definitely had this conversation before. I figured I'd ask the polite way my parents taught me. Now I'll do it my way. The way things usually get done. Make a pain in the "Arse" of yourself so they most definitely notice you (but in a polite, non threatening way :D )

All sent. You know it occurs to me that it might not be a bad idea to mention that we'd happily buy the issue of Wizard that featured the article in question. Can't hurt, anyway...
Best wishes,
Scott

Agreed. I already subscribe to the magazine though. Not a bad mag if your into the comic scene anyway. For any Boppers who subscribe or buy it off and on I'd mention that first. Much more likely to help out fans/subscribers to the mag before anyone else.:D :D

I suscribe as well. :D I just wish in their attemps to be bigger and better that they would remember where it was they came from. It seems like they have forgotten....:(

Yeah they came along way from Garebs Garage and a news type letter/mag to what they are today.
Who do they have to thank? Us, The Fans
Who do they forget first when they make it? Us, The Fans

That happens with just about every publication, except comic books ... most try thier best to stay loyal to the fans, but Wizard is still the best mag out there reporting on Comicbook related stuff.

we should have a standard message, coming from a thousand dif. sources.

I don't know if I would go with a standard message. To me personally, if I owned the magazine I would rather see 1,000 letters/e-mails about the same subject with different viewpoints, rather than a cookie cutter standard form letter. To me a standard letter is inpersonal. (just my opinion). For example...DrayvensCrow or SevenSlave may make a point or request in their letter that was not in someone elses and this may set a spark off in Wizards mind. But, If everyone wants to come up with a form type letter I'm easy. ;) The more letters that barrage the Wizard office the better, standard or otherwise.
I posted a few points for the letter. Any other ideas or points you think could be added post or PM me I'd love to hear em. The more ideas the merrier.

I tend to agree with the DOC ... I think form letters wouldn't be as well received as individual letters on the same subject.
At least that way they know that you cared enough about the subject matter to put your own words into it.

I agree, too...that is why the networks listen more to snail mailed letters than to emails. Emails are easy to dash off - as are form letters. It takes more effort to compose an original letter and to mail it.

It is important every time one of us e-mails or snails someone like this, to make the same point by different means. One time could be about strong characters, another time about the lack of quality show as compared to BOP, etc. It may not be easy sometimes coming up with different points, but the more we can, the better we make our case.

Look, just say what's in your heart; tell him why you like the show and what it is about BOP that appeals to you. :)
