Hi. I'm new here. Over on another BBS, I came up with a BoP timeline and thought I'd share it here. Feel free to comment on it, share your ideas on how I could change it, etc.

1953 - Bruce Wayne is born

1961 - 8-year-old Bruce watches as his parents are murdered by a petty thug named Jack Napier (who will later be transformed into the maniacal Joker)

1978 - After years of travel, study, and training, 25-year-old Bruce begins fighting crime as Batman. His first major foe is The Joker, a mobster whose physical appearance and mental state are altered after he falls into a vat of chemicals

1979 - Bruce falls in love with Selena Kyle, a secretary who lives a double life as Catwoman, a criminal seductress who has followed in The Joker's footsteps and established herself as the queen of Gotham City's criminal underworld. Their passion results in the birth of a baby girl, Helena, who will grow up never knowing her father's identity. Following Helena's birth, Selena retires from her life of crime to raise her

1980 - Bruce takes in 9-year-old circus performer Dick Grayson after his parents plummet to their deaths while performing a trick. Their deaths are later discovered to be an act of sabotage by a disgruntled circus employee named Tony Zucco. Seven months after coming to live with Bruce, young Dick discovers the Bat Cave and soon joins Bruce in fighting crime as the high-flying Robin

1985 - 16-year-old Barbara Gordon creates the identity of Batgirl in an attempt to stop a corrupt police officer from framing her father, Commissioner James Gordon. After successfully clearing her father's name, Barbara uses her Batgirl identity to begin fighting crime in emulation of her hero, Batman. Batman eventually discovers her true identity and offers to train her, an offer that she readily accepts. 16-year-old Dick Grayson, also known as Robin, changes his identity to Nightwing and leaves Gotham to join the Teen Titans, a group of young superheroes based out of New York City. To replace him, Bruce begins training a young man named Jason Todd to take up the mantle of Robin

1986 - Jason is killed by the Joker. Bruce is reluctant to put another young life on the line, but Dick returns and convinces him to train a young street kid named Tim Drake, who takes up the mantle of Robin and joins Bruce and Barbara in fighting crime.

1995 - 26-year-old Barbara is shot through the spine by the Joker and paralyzed. The Joker also hires a thug to kill Catwoman, Batman's long-time lover and former advarsary, who dies in the arms of her 16-year-old daughter Helena. A 9-year-old girl named Dinah Redmond witnesses the brutal crimes in a dream. Devastated by the loss of Catwoman, a guilt-ridden Bruce hangs up his cape and cowl and leaves Gotham, now known as New Gotham, behind. The Joker is subsequently arrested and incarcerated in another state.

2002 - Barbara, now known as Oracle, fights crime in New Gotham alongside Helena, now 23 and known as the Huntress. Dinah, now 16 years old, arrives in New Gotham and is taken in by Barbara after it is discovered that she (Dinah) possesses meta-human powers. Unbeknownst to them, Harleen Quinzel, the Joker's former paramour, arrives in New Gotham in the hopes of continuing her former lover's reign of crime.

nice timeline...so you're saying that bruce is 49 years old now...meaning it's going to be kinda hard if in case he returns to put the mask back on.

One error though...you just mention Jason being killed but not him joining bruce and becoming the 2nd robin.

jhowlett, actually it says under 1985 that Bruce trained Jason Todd as Robin. It's the year before he was killed.

Psychic Oracle is right, jhowlett. I did mention Dick leaving and Bruce training Jason to take his place as the second Robin. However, because so much happens during 1985, I can see where you might have missed the mention of Jason joining Bruce as Robin II. BTW, in regards to your comment about Bruce's age, the only way he WOULDN'T be able to resume his life as Batman would be if he let his rigorous physical training regimin slide (which I highly doubt would happen, as it's just not in his character). He may be 49 years old, but he's in peak physical condition because of his life as Batman.

Anyone have anything to add to the timeline?

I missed it the first time I read it because I was in a really big hurry. But it's a great time line, really helps to explain a bit. Hopefully the writers have constructed a similar one, so we have a good sense of continuality.

Hey. I'm back with a few additions/revisions to the timeline.

I wondered about the difference in ages between Barbara and Helena. I envisioned Barbara as being about 35 - so 33 is certainly close. Thanks for the timeline.

Great timeline! It really put everything into perspective for me!

One thing that I noticed was this: In 1980, you said that Dick was nine when Bruce took him in to train him as the first Robin. Then, in 1985, you said that Dick was 16. Add the five years onto his age in 1980 and he'd only be 14. I was wondering about that.

Again, wonderful timeline! It totally helped out a lot! :)

Anyways good job ;)

Whoops. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I'll go back and fix it. Anyone else notice any mistakes or stuff that needs fixing or clarification?

So Helena was 16 when Barbara took her in. I was wondering about that because I have read one or two things that suggest she was 14 at the time. Oh well its close enough. Thanks for a great timeline by the way! :)

I'm back with a question for all of you concerning my timeline and the episode 'Sins of the Mother'. I've found out that Carolyn Lance, Dinah Redmond's birth mother, once apprenticed under Bruce as Black Canary. What I need to know is this: Do we know if Barbara knows about Carolyn's apprenticeship under Bruce, or does it come as a surprise to her?

I think Barb knows 'coz in the comics she did...

Thanks. Given Dinah's age, when would Carolyn have apprenticed under Batman as Black Canary?

I've found out that Lori Loughlin, the actress portraying Carolyn Lance, is 37. Dinah is 16, which means she would have had to have been born in 1986. Taking these two ages into account, I've come up with a BoP-verse background for Carolyn Lance.

1965 - Born to police officer Richard Lance and his wife.

1978 - Expresses a desire to follow in her father's footsteps and begins training to prepare herself for a career as a police officer.

1980 - Applies for apprenticeship to the Gotham City Police Department, but is turned down due to her age. Begins fighting crime in her own way by being observant and following her father on nightly patrols. Begins to follow the exploits of the costumed crime-fighter Batman with great interest.

1981 - Again tries to apply for apprenticeship to the GCPD, but is rejected. Decides to fight crime in her own way by assuming the identity of Black Canary in emulation of her hero, Batman. Chooses to fight crime by committing it, gaining the trust of criminals before turning them into the police.

1982 - Runs afoul of Batman during an attempted jewel heist. Later accepts an offer by the Caped Crusader to abandon her independent crime fighting and join forces with him.

1983 - Returns to her earlier crime-committing roots by infiltrating the infamous Hawke criminal family. Uses her identity as Black Canary to bring down the organization from the inside.

1986 - Gives birth to a baby girl, whom she names Dinah, but abandons the child out of fear for her safety. Eventually splits off from Batman to fight crime on her own once again.

2002 - Returns to New Gotham in search of Dinah. Runs afoul of Al Hawke, the former prodigal son of the Hawke crime family, who attempts to take her out.

Does this sound right to you guys?

i thought the show is soposse to take place in the future more like 2002 was where it was in the begining of the pilot and the show is now 7 yrs later which is 2009

The main reason I don't think the show is set in the future is because of the fact that none of the tech or sets for the show look very futuristic. They simply look modern.

Hi. In light of the most recent episode, "Sins of the Mother", I've had to revise my timeline a little bit.

His first major foe is The Joker, a mobster whose physical appearance and mental state are altered after he falls into a vat of chemicals. Batman has several memorable confrontations with the Joker and is eventually able to apprehend him. He is incarcerated in Arkham Asylum, but vows to escape and return to seek revenge against Batman
1982 - Batman encounters a young criminal named Black Canary, but soon learns that she is not quite what she seems. After discovering that she is actually an undercover crimefighter, he offers to train her and accepts her into his crimefighting cadre.
14-year-old Dick Grayson, also known as Robin, changes his identity to Nightwing and leaves Gotham to join the Teen Titans, a group of young superheroes based out of New York City. To replace him, Bruce begins training a young man named Jason Todd to take up the mantle of Robin.
1986 - Black Canary, whose real name is Carolyn Lance, gives birth to a baby girl, whom she names Dinah.
1992 - Caroly comes home one evening and discovers a bomb under her daughter's bed. Fearing for her daughter's safety, Carolyn takes young Dinah and leaves her with the Redmond family. Dinah will remain with the Redmonds for 10 years.
1993 - Carolyn infiltrates the Hawke criminal family and takes them down from the inside. This act will cause the youngest son of the family, Al, to swear revenge against her.
Carolyn, now retired, comes to New Gotham to find Dinah, but ends up being captured by Al Hawke, who wants revenge on her for what she did to his family. Dinah and Huntress show up, and Dinah rescues her mom. However, Carolyn stays behind to distract Al Hawke and allow Huntress and Dinah to escape, but is killed in an explosion before she can make her own escape.
