They won’t be around much, tomorrow, so she called, today, so that I could say Happy Birthday, ‘cause she knew I’d want to. I’ll send a Happy Birthday E-mail, tomorrow instead of calling.
Fave thread: Haven’t looked, yet. Probably a fanfic.
Doing: Getting ready to do more assignments.
Thinking: Man, I get way too wordy when I fill these things out!

Feeling: Several things: Extremely relieved—My professor just gave me another extension, and this time, it looks like I’ll make the deadline! I also dropped my May class, and the minute I did it this enormous wave of relief washed over me. Also feeling quite sick. (Occupational hazard—I’m around runny-nosed, grubby-handed children who sneeze into their hand (provided they cover their mouth) and then use my pen and touch my books and stuff like that all day long!) Also feeling really sad over something to do with one of my kids.

Laughing at: ROTFLMAO!!! Laughing at a story my mom just told me about something that happened last night. My family is certifiably crazy!!!
Hoping: My uncle recovers okay. Also hoping Shadow’s okay.
Reflecting on: All kinds of stuff I can’t put into words.
Remembering: If I were perfect, I'd probably be smug and impossible to live with.
Thankful For: A second chance.

I Deserve: Didn’t deserve a second chance, but I got one.

Can't Wait For: To be done with these assignments--I can see the end!
Excited about: Three of the kids from my Math group and two from my reading group were doing so well, they were able to move up to the next ones! They are so excited! They came racing back over to show me their papers and how good they’re doing!

Happy that: I dropped that class. Really happy! I tend to be stubborn and overly optimistic about how much I can handle, constantly biting off more than I can chew…when I feel like I can’t handle something, I need to remember to listen to that, because it’s usually a pretty good indication that I really can’t.

Hatin/Mad at: Whoever or whatever is the cause of something which is breaking the heart of one of my kids. God, I loathe DCFS!
Missing: Still missing my family.
Wishing: I were independently wealthy, because I would happily be a Teacher Aide for the rest of my life if I didn’t have to try to live on the pay.

Reflecting on: Everything I owe to my mom. She is wonderful. She is a little, energetic woman, with a quirky sense of humor and a strong personality—a typical California tomboy, as was her mother before her, as am I. I never learned from my mother how to sew a button or hem a skirt, but she taught me how to catch and clean a fish, and how to split kindling and start a fire, and the names of the different trees and plants in the forest, and how to recognize the signs of wildlife, and all about the world which surrounds me. Mom was a teacher, and she always sought opportunities for us to experience and learn about the world around us. She took us out to watch the sheep shearing, and to the fish hatchery, and to a dairy, and on nature hikes, and to the ocean, and to the zoo on the day they were letting people ride on the elephant. My thirst to experience as much as possible the variety of the world which surrounds me stems from her.

I never appreciated my mom more than when I started working at a school. I work with so many kids who don’t have the support that they need in order to succeed. It makes me realize just how much my mom helped me. I have some mild learning disabilities, as well as Attention Deficit Disorder. Some tasks are very difficult for me, and I have real trouble staying on task and being focused. Mom monitored my homework carefully, keeping me on task and quizzing me on my schoolwork until I knew it. I frankly wouldn’t have succeeded in school if it hadn’t been for her support. She is just great! Today (May 6) is her birthday.

Remembering: How mom used to sit in the rocking chair and sing with us when we were little. And how she would read to us on long car trips. And a bunch of other memories.
Thankful For: My Mom.
Wondering: Wondering if a certain monster is running amok.

okay now to my story..... (ohhhh look cookie crumbs! wonder if that has been there less than 5 seconds?) where was i?.............oh yes!

Recently we (our suburb) has been hit really hard with dog poisonings, and since our recent robbery we have been pretty much on the edge. our dogs are sort of barkers. You see the basset hound like anyone who comes around the corner so he'll have this choke up whiney bark and get all excited, the german shephard is pretty vicious (spelling?) with her bark by she won't even harm a flea! and my baby puppy scares the shit out of everyone with her bark and her one brown eye and one blue eye (apparently the africans are very susperstitious about them).

So this morning here about 5am, i hear my puppy start whining, no the poison these guys use is called "two step" which means in 2 seconds the dog is on the floor suffering. Anyway, my puppy starts this ungodly whining and i'm up, out my bedroom, through the kitchen and out the back door before you can say, "wha?". (oh and did i mention how freakin cold it is in the mornings now?) But through my rush to rescue my baby i didn't notice the rake in the grass. So here i am flying acroos the lawn and "THWACK!" i step on the rake and the handle hits me sqaure in the face. I fell backwards onto the very wet grass and i lay there stunned. Then my dad comes by and checks on the animals. Turns out my baby was whining for nothing. So i get up, very relieved there was no doggy poop anywhere nearby and quickly shuffle back inside muttering profanaties at not only my baby but also at the gardener.

Remembering: Ok, here goes the story....Yesterday, my friend came over to type a report on my PC...she had just finished the paper, at about 8PM or so, and my computer crashes!!! When I get it up and running again, the computer has nothing of her final essay, which was due the next day (today). She had typed the entire thing off the top of her head. Feeling bad for her, I helped her put it back together....but it took quite a bit longer the second time around....We went to sleep at 7:15 this morning...then, I woke up at 8:00 to go to work. That's right math students! That's 45 minutes of sleep, and here I sit at my desk at work, trying desperately not to fall out!

I Deserve: A big kick in the butt. I had a second chance, and still…what am I doing at the last possible minute? Heavens! Will I never learn?

Ah yes and explanation to the singed hair. Well we got a gas heater at home and my mom asked me to start it this afternoon to warm the house up so i get the long matches ready and then got confused. I couldn't remember wheather i had to put the gas on first or light the match frist then put the gas on, so dumb old me puts the gas on first. Then i quickly fumbled with the match, light it and bring it near the heater, through the grill. FOOM!!! Great big ball sped right up towards me, singed my fringe right up! I guess it's a really serious matter, i could have got hurt, but i could'nt help but laugh my ass off!!!! *suddenly remembers how bad laughing one's hiney off is actully bad and does a check to see if hers is still there*

Okay, I was getting bored with typing the same old thing, because the only time I have freedom to log onto this site is in the evening…so, I’m always wearing/doing the same ‘ol things. I decided…I am going to keep an ATM journal, and write down bits and snatches of life throughout the day…then maybe share one of those instead. Been meaning to keep a journal for years, but never get around to it. This format, though…this could work. Sorry if that bugs anyone. Always gotta be different.

Location: A Public School in Chicago, Room 203

Wearing: Off-white pants, dark green shirt, dark green sweater tied around my waist…it’s a lot hotter in the classroom than it is outside.
Hair: Looked much better before I ran for the bus while it was still damp.
Eyes: Kinda droopy. The tedium in here is stifling.
Hearing: The scratching of pencils, the rustle of paper, the various sounds of fidgeting, Mr. E. and me walking around quietly reading test questions to people whose I.E.P.’s allow for that, and the indistinct mumble of kids verbalizing as they read to themselves.
Watching: One kid’s entire body bobbing up and down as he works.
Eating: Nothing. And I’m starved, too.

Talking with: The new kid, to whom I am reading the test.

Doing: Proctoring the mpamba Iowa Test. Reading test questions to a kid who has a learning disability affecting his ability to read. (We can read everything but the reading test to them.) Trying to keep him from panicking and refusing to try. (A learning disability combined with an emotional/behavioral disorder. Not a happy combination.) Trying to be matter of fact and low-key, while inserting a bit of humor. Seems to be working; he’s calmed down considerably. He was nearly in tears and ready to give up a few minutes ago.

Thinking: God, do I hate the Iowa Test!
Feeling: Restless. Proctoring is a big bunch of forced inactivity.
Laughing at: Lord love a duck! I’m worse than the kids!
Hoping: I can force myself to stay awake. Man, am I drowsy!

Remembering: Last year’s Iowa Testing, when one kid sang the National Anthem at the top of her lungs until removed from the classroom, another kid got in your face and got all belligerent if you asked her not to talk, another insisted on doing the test his way, others passed notes and got belligerent when caught, another got frustrated and threw tantrums, another tried to disrupt the classroom at every given opportunity…aw, yeah…this year’s nothing!

Thinking: i almost really did break my neck today. and almost slit my foot open. i was playin kickball with the little girls next door and our ditches down are road are pretty deep and concrete and one of them kicked the ball in the ditch and i of course was barefoot(it's summer, i never wear shoes)and i got down there ok and got the ball but coming back up was a diffrent story, cause the concrete was all broken up and it had rained and i slipped but i got out ok. i'm fine. just my little adventure story of the day.

Feeling: Happy, wickedly so - enough to make someone ask me if I was high the other day - LOL. And a bit sore - See, I was so hyper today, I did a huge workout at home. Then, at work, things were a little quiet, so I went to the storeroom and started working on the punching bag we have back there. Then, took the stairs whenever I could. Would you believe I'm still a bit hyper?
