Lisa ... will this source be able to forward ratings once the show airs ???

We actually now have 2 sources who have emailed us about BoP in Sweden. I will ask both to post ratings, assuming that Sweden uses a ratings system.

*jaguarin eats her nails waiting for ratings in Sweden*
On the topic of ratings there's still nothing to report in the UK. After two weeks it's looking most likely we won't here about the ratings for the show on CNX.
I can only estimate what the ratings will be. Say for instance it picks up as many viewers as Buffy does then it could average at 800,000 per week but that would put it at the top of the ratings for satellite/digital.
BoP will most likely be watched in the UK by numbers in there tens of thousands. If I had to pick a ballpark figure it would be possibly 20,000 - 30,000 but I could be wrong!
Nice to see the rest of the international community is picking up on the show. It may not mean a second season but it could guarantee us a video/DVD release of it.
With the show going global all the money that may have been lost in the US will be quickly made up, making the show profitable. Which in turns makes a video/DVD release worldwide more lucritable (that is a word right?).

I would like to know how often shows that only run for a half season are picked up in other countries.
Does anyone overseas have an idea? What other shows do you get that have been cancelled quickly in the US? Or is BOP there just because it's of the Batman franchise?

I have many pals in Scandinavia who are thrilled about the airing of BOP in Sweden. Unfortunately some of them live in Denmark and Finland, and it is difficult to get KANAL 5. But, as they e-mailed me today theylive in hope of seeing the episodes one way of the other.
SxygrrlHuntress - Hello - Years ago limited episodes of TV series were sold overseas. Mostly to countries (very small ones) with limited resources and very few TV outlets. Years ago I did work on a soap called GENERATIONS, it only lasted less than a year. When I was in Romania filming, I saw it on the local TV in Bucharest, so sometimes these limited shows have a future life. I personally think the studios sell them very cheap, just to make some kind of money back.
I think its great news. I'll try to talk my aunt and cousin into watching the show. I'll have to ask them to keep a look out for any Bop advertisements as well. :)
SGH I can only think of one or two shows. 'Snoops' was on in New Zealand showing the unaired eps.
I do remember a few years ago that the show 'murder one' was running in Germany with episodes I had never seen before.
Firefly is showing or is starting here soon. I haven't seen any promo's for it yet because I don't watch Sci-Fi very often. Not sure about any other short lived series coming over here though.

I have a question...
If Birds becomes outstandingly popular in another country... is there any chance that this fandom could bring Birds back into production in the U.S.?

I doubt it.

Isn't that how Baywatch became a worldwide phenomenon?
SevenSlave

^ That is indeed how Baywatch got revived.
It became a hit overseas after it was cancelled by NBC. It was then picked up by a foreign distributor and syndicated into eternity.

Thats EXACTLY what happened with Baywatch, weather it will happen here or not remains to be seen ... BOP is big in South America already so lets keep our fingers crossed.
But one thing to remember ... Baywatch didn't have the added trouble of copyrighted charactors .... so i this case I think it will be a bit more of an up hill battle.

And models and porn stars and stuff don't appear on Birds of Prey, which is one of the main reasons people watch Baywatch.

I don't think it'll be THAT big of a problem.
Skiffy's working with Marvel right now. I'm sure they're facing a lot of the same issues with them as they would with DC.

You obviously don't know much about the girl who played LAdy Shiva then.

That was only one. And she wasn't part of the main cast. And she didn't show any skin.

Well one is enough .. your post stated none at all, now your changing the parameters of your statement ... and none of the actors in Baywatch showed skin beyond bikini's, main cast or not.

Being an avid Baywatch viewer, there was more to the show than just good looking guys and girls. The biggest reason why it caught so much attention in other countries was the idea of the "California Dream". It was a total escape from reality and you got to live that dream.
Yes, the cast was hot. That was also a big selling point but no show, no matter what it is, has staying power due to a hot cast. It did have its powerful storylines at times - it wasn't just a shallow program and having seen every episode, I can fully say that there are those eps that make you cringe from the cheesey nature but there were many powerful eps.
Can BOP claim international success? I sure hope so! But it doesn't carry with it that California dream so it's still a uphill battle.
Well you could say Bop carries with it the 'New Gotham' dream! Kidding! :D
I think someone asked this before but I can't remember the number so how long between the time Baywatch was canceled and then picked up again?
(I agree I would hope that would be the case here for Bop as well.)
It mean it is interesting to see that Bop is a big hit in South America and other places already. And as some of my friends have noted time and again Bop fits perfectly into the x-men, hulk and Spiderman hits at the moment.

I think it was like a year with Baywatch before it was picked up. Maybe slightly longer.

I've heard that the Adverts for BoP in the UK are saying "The First Season."
Someone who isn't that much of a fan told me about this, and thought it was rather odd considering they'd cancelled the series half way through an' all.
I haven't seen any of these adverts myself. Perhaps its just a marketing gimmick. After all saying "See the half season of bop before it was cancelled." doesn't carry the same ring does it.

So this is their little game, huh? Keep the fandom waiting for a second season that might never come?
Thank God we've got Neil and our other friends in The UK who know the truth! :)

I'm hoping that Neil's website has people in the UK talking about the show.
:D:D I hope my website has people in the UK talking about the show aswell. I'm trying to get it added to all the major search engines but I keep hitting a brick wall with that! At the moment I guess most UK fans will end up here first and hopefully stumble across me later.
I just realised I didn't update my site to say which episode was on tonight! OOPS!
Ok I was thinking about this today while sitting in the bank forever.
Going back to the question of could Bop have a Baywatch kind of revival might it be possible seeing as how Bop seems to be doing good in Latin America and is having its second showing already?
