The series everyone has been waiting for is here! Get ready for SUPERMAN/BATMAN, a new ongoing series that pairs two of DC’s heaviest hitters — and comics’ most iconic characters — in one action-packed monthly book! Written by Jeph Loeb, it continues the momentum from his best-selling stint on BATMAN, and features earth-shattering art by fan-favorite Ed McGuinness (SUPERMAN, THUNDERCATS) — making his return to the Man of Steel — and inker extraordinaire Dexter Vines! This extra-sized issue also features two covers by McGuinness & Vines — one spotlighting Superman, the other spotlighting Batman — and features a new format, utilizing an extra-heavy cover and glossy paper.
SUPERMAN/BATMAN explores new facets of each legendary character, as the true identity of the man who murdered Bruce Wayne's parents is uncovered and Superman squares off against the biggest threat he’s ever faced! And while the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel are otherwise occupied, Lex Luthor assembles a mysterious team of heroes assigned to help Superman…but is that their only objective? Plus, watch for appearances from the Batman and Superman supporting casts!
This project is supported with house ads, a preview in Wizard magazine, two 11” x 34” full-color posters, and a minsite at www.dccomics.com.
SUPERMAN/BATMAN is an ongoing series edited by Eddie Berganza. The 32-page issue #1 arrives in comic-book stores August 20 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.

How many times is the "true Identity" of the man who murdered Bruce's parents going to be revealed ???
I thought it was Joe Chill ... or was that pre crisis ??

I thought it was Two Face. In Batman Forever, Bruce says that "he killed him" and the main villian was Two Face.

Actually, in the Bat-movies it was the Joker. In the comics it was Joseph "Joe Chill" Chilton.

Well I'm not sure if it was mentioned in any other story but Batman dealt with Joe Chill in Batman: Year Two. But does that even fit in with coninuity anymore? I mean there's no way that it can coexist with some stories, like Robin: Year One. Anyone know what I'm saying?

Yes ST .. the original resolution to the Wayne's Murder was told in Legend of the Batman which I'm pretty sure was PRE Crisis. But I was under the impression that it was taken as wrote even in Post Crisis.

Stories in Legends of the Dark Knight are just that: Legends. If there is a conflicting version of a story told in LOTDK, the conflicting version always wins.

I wasn't refering to Legend of the Dark Knight ... it was a Mini Series called The Legend of Batman ... it was published WAY before LOTDK was ever even conceived ... and it was specifically published to resolve the murder of the Wayne's in the first issue.

These days Batman does not know who killed his parents. Zero Hour gave Batman doubts about it since he saw Joe Chill sitt in his home the night the waynes got killed, after that DC has made it clear that Batman does not know who killed them. And as Frostbite correctly stated in the movies it was Joker who killed the Waynes.

I wouldn't hurt you, DBZ. Who would make up for the unmade DBZ GT stuff we would miss out on?:D
OK, I've got it! Joe Chill is actually Mr. Freeze from an alt. universe, who was sent here by his world's Joker. So, you could say everyone's right!
Now, THERE'S an Oy Vay, for you! LOL:D

I got it! Maybe the person Batman saw in Joe Chill's home the night Tom and Martha were murdered was Joe's twin brother! That way, Joe could've still murdered the Waynes, AND Batman could've seen "Joe" at home.

It will be interesting to see what they do with it this time ... comics were delayed until tomorrow so nothing new to report yet.

read a sneak peek of Superman/Batman in the latest issue of Wizard magazine. At the end of this preview, its hinted that the murderer of the Waynes might be....Metallo.
Ugh. I hope I'm wrong and it turns out to be a red herring. I always preferred the Joe Chill scenario. With all the freaks and supervillians Batman has fought over the years, the idea that the person who totally messed up his life was a common criminal is bitterly ironic.

Metallo? How is that even possible?

Dary is right .. I guess there is more to the Wayne's deaths in this version of the DC Universe than in the previous one ... we will ahve to wait and see how the story unfolds.

All together now! In the tune of "We Didn't Start the Fire":
We don't want the retcon.
It's a stupid plotline, but it's here for all time.
We don't want the retcon.
No we never liked it and we still don't buy it.
