Do the producers/writers ever read these postings? If so, this message is for them:
This show has incredible potential, but please don't do to it what Joel Schumacher and his crew did to the last two Batman movies.
PLEASE steer clear of the corny, campy one-liners ("you try fighting the forces of evil when your blood sugar is low"). How many times now have they made references to fighting the forces of evil. These tongue-in-cheek comments really detract from the show. This is not "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so please stop trying to act like it.
If you want to take a lesson, take one from "Alias." Now here's a show with a female lead that is both tough and gentle. She can kick ass with the best of them, but that is not what the show is entirely about. As preposterous as the premise is, they add a dose of realism that makes it work. They rely on human emotion and interpersonal relations to form the backbone of the story. It's not all about the gimmicks (although the gimmicks have their place). We can feel Sydney's pain when she's in pain, feel her hatred of SD-6, feel the struggles internally when it comes to her family situations. No camp, no corn.
So in Helena's case, let's have some more intense flashbacks or something to give us reasons to believe her pain. Sort of like Bruce Wayne's in the original "Batman" movie; even Catwoman's struggles in the sequel. (Seriously folks, watch "Batman" and "Batman Returns" again and you'll see what I mean. You could SEE and FEEL Selina Kyle's internal battle.) Do the same with Dinah too....and on the subject of Dinah, give this poor girl something to do. At the end of the first episode she was working on her combat skills. But since then she's just been standing around asking questions. Sure she hit a guy in Ep 2, but shouldn't we be seeing some more combat from her? At least attempts, however failed they become? Helena can save her butt a few times...at least we'd be seeing more from Dinah's character than the occasional flash of someone's mind. Barbara needs more to do too. And when are we gonna see the real Harley Quinn? If this show is going to continue to rely on gimmicks (hopefully not, but if it must) then let's throw that costume on folks. Give us the over-the-top comic book villain. And if she's really a psychopath as she calls herself in Ep 1, then let's see some truly psychopathic behavior. She did kill a guy tonight, which was a surprise, but show us some of the madness bubbling under the surface.
I know it must sound like I hate this show....I don't. It's definitely got potential...I just hate to see it wasted. One last thing...let's steer clear of so much "meta-human" talk. This is not X-Men....it's not even Mutant X (ugh!) so let's not imitate them.
One bright light....BRILLIANT casting. Now give these talented actors storylines worth telling a story!
