View Full Version : Producers/writers - Please Pay Attention

Do the producers/writers ever read these postings? If so, this message is for them:

This show has incredible potential, but please don't do to it what Joel Schumacher and his crew did to the last two Batman movies.
PLEASE steer clear of the corny, campy one-liners ("you try fighting the forces of evil when your blood sugar is low"). How many times now have they made references to fighting the forces of evil. These tongue-in-cheek comments really detract from the show. This is not "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so please stop trying to act like it.

If you want to take a lesson, take one from "Alias." Now here's a show with a female lead that is both tough and gentle. She can kick ass with the best of them, but that is not what the show is entirely about. As preposterous as the premise is, they add a dose of realism that makes it work. They rely on human emotion and interpersonal relations to form the backbone of the story. It's not all about the gimmicks (although the gimmicks have their place). We can feel Sydney's pain when she's in pain, feel her hatred of SD-6, feel the struggles internally when it comes to her family situations. No camp, no corn.

So in Helena's case, let's have some more intense flashbacks or something to give us reasons to believe her pain. Sort of like Bruce Wayne's in the original "Batman" movie; even Catwoman's struggles in the sequel. (Seriously folks, watch "Batman" and "Batman Returns" again and you'll see what I mean. You could SEE and FEEL Selina Kyle's internal battle.) Do the same with Dinah too....and on the subject of Dinah, give this poor girl something to do. At the end of the first episode she was working on her combat skills. But since then she's just been standing around asking questions. Sure she hit a guy in Ep 2, but shouldn't we be seeing some more combat from her? At least attempts, however failed they become? Helena can save her butt a few times...at least we'd be seeing more from Dinah's character than the occasional flash of someone's mind. Barbara needs more to do too. And when are we gonna see the real Harley Quinn? If this show is going to continue to rely on gimmicks (hopefully not, but if it must) then let's throw that costume on folks. Give us the over-the-top comic book villain. And if she's really a psychopath as she calls herself in Ep 1, then let's see some truly psychopathic behavior. She did kill a guy tonight, which was a surprise, but show us some of the madness bubbling under the surface.

I know it must sound like I hate this show....I don't. It's definitely got potential...I just hate to see it wasted. One last thing...let's steer clear of so much "meta-human" talk. This is not X-Men....it's not even Mutant X (ugh!) so let's not imitate them.

One bright light....BRILLIANT casting. Now give these talented actors storylines worth telling a story!

I honestly couldn't say if they read this board though I would hope they do, there aren't THAT many BoP sites around currently so I guess there is a good chance they do.

Good points, and I agree with you on the casting, especially Dina! She's perfect :D

:fishy: I, as well, agree with you on everything you said here. You just listed every one of my complaints about the show. I do hope they start fixing it up some because I'd hate for BoP to be one of the shows they loose before next year...That would be genuinely disappointing. I'd also like to see Dinah's actually begin to struggle with her power or have conflict with it that they'd have to help her in. It seems that she's neither training her power or using it very much. Having a power like that has got to be tempting since we hear so much about Helena's powers and her struggle. If I could go into people's minds, I would use it all the time...wouldn't you?? ;)

actually I find some of the corny jokes, kind of fun.
but the relationships between these woman are really where it's at. and dinah and barbra both need more time.
They have a teenage dinah now, in a few years they'll be like all other shows when their teenage hero turns eighteen, and have no idea what to do.

I agree and I can't wait for the episode where they find out how lucky they are that Dinah isn't that boy-crazed right now to the bad-boy type. Those episodes would be really fun to watch though

right now dinah seems more like a real teenager, and not htose overly mature ones tv usually gives us. she's a little akward and corny. the school scenes w/ her and the scenes with barb tring to act like a mother are great.
so many shows have teenagers getting away with things I never would have been able to, like it was normal.

Yeah, it is nice for a normal teenager and I absolutely love Dinah but I'd adore a episode where she lost all that was keeping her the way that she is. A episode where she was absolutely bad...that would rule :D It would be just enough to get her some appreciation from Helena and Oracle. Or an episode that truly tested her like I'm hoping the "Sins of the Mother" will do. I would not like her to stay that way though.

well, she got herself in trouble two episodes in a row , so she has potential :)
I think the next episode is going to give her some emotional termoil. you know by the end her mom will have to be written out again.
In fact I wonder if it is to soon for this stunt, being that she has barely established her self in helena and barabara's lives

I think that it couldn't come at a better time. Dinah views the world with rose-tinted eyes. She likes the feeling of being a superhero and/or working with them. She likes the feeling of being a part of a family/+team but she doesn't understand the turmoil and dismay that comes with it. Right now, she sees Helena and doesn't understand why she's against being a hero or her father, Batman. Finding out why her mom left might change the tune of her a bit and let her understand Barbara and Helena more and vise versa. I hope you're right jinnyb about that emotional termoil...I'm crossing my fingers as I type right now...:o kind of makes it hard to type :D I wish there were a lol button here...:o

see tv guide description of primal scream

though you don't want to get a totally depressed dinah.
but have something barbara and helena can help her work through. Barb's character has great potential for this.
Plus 'd like to see some normal teenage things.
like needing money, homework, boys etc...
and barbra having to deal with these with her

A good "mother/daughter" fight between her a barbra, like only a sixteen year old can throw wouldn't be interesting- considering there not
