Did anyone see Ashley starring as Asha in Dark Angel? What did you think of her performance on the show?

Ooh, I love DA. It's my 3rd favourite show of all time (after Roswell and Alias).
Ashley's very talented, but the writers highly underused her very obvious talent. They brought her in to create a love triangle between Max and Logan but they didn't develop her character at all, and so, her character was very two-dimensional and useless. The writers should have given Ashley more material to work with ... she would have been an amazing addition to the show and Asha would have been a great foil for Max's character.

I thought she was good in it, but the role she was given wasn't amazing, which was unfortunate. Plus she seemed to get written out by the end, whether intentional or not.
Yeah, the whole "love triangle" thing never really worked. There was one episode which managed it quite well, but things kinda died down after that and then Alec was thrown in and it got all confused :)

I thought she was good in Dark Angel, given the part she had to play which wasn't all that great in my opinion. I think it would have been nice if she would have played the role of Max, it would have given her more of a chance to show how good of an actress she is.

Ashley's character on DA was used and abused by the writers....they had this neat concept for the triangle for Max and Logan and then backed off when the shipper groups got WAY out of hand over it. (When will people see that it's just TV) ;)
Ashley played a character that ran this wicked group of people that tried to help others, etc and all of a sudden....nothing....shoved her with Alec....wasn't quite sure about that so the writers used to give any excuse just to make the character look a fool....(Remember the scene where Max had to break Ash's character out of jail?....what the hell was that about apart from boosting the character of Max...which they didn't need to did they?)
<walks off mumbling>
Though watching Asha try to fight the guard was pretty funny :)
The sudden hook-up/break-up with Alec did seem a bit weird. It was like the writers suddenly decided to scrap the Max-Logan-Asha thing and come up with something new and then changed their minds again. Sheesh.

Yeah and can I just say that's how most of Season Two was?
Who was in charge that season? Rene Recarvaria or something wasn't it? Jessica kind said that he was taking things away from the shows trueness before it got cancelled...guess much unhappy mumblings were happening behind camera :fight:
Yes it was whatisname who was mostly in charge of S2. If only Renfro had stayed! Now she was evil, way more than White! :)

All I have to say is that Alec was the best thing Dark Angel had. However, Asha was a nice touch. ;)

Asha was a good character, I liked Asha, but that whole triangle thing they tried to pull didn't work. They should have played her like a female Logan (which is somewhat the way they started out). It seemed like they wanted this tough gun carrying girl in the begining, but they didn't know what to do with her when Max came back. Then the shippers got mad they made her act all stupid in "Radar Love". Then they did the whole Alec thing and then thought better of it. And they never quite cleared up what her group "S1W" actually did. The way she left the show just sucked. Then again, even the much loved non-mutant characters of Season 1 lost a lot to the failed Season 2 of Dark Angel.
Asha Episodes worth seeing:
Designate This (you could tell the writers were positive about the character back then)
Gill Girl (after brief appearences for no good reason, Asha is actually useful in this episode)
Boo (Seeing Asha play charades with the Transgenics is still funny. And Logan says he's going to marry her. The love triangle thing actually worked here.)
Braniac (maybe -- it's the first after Designate This that showed her playing revolutionary outside of Logan's apartment)
Radar Love (she looks like an idiot, but that's funny now)

A few people assumbed Asha was Jondy, because she and the kid X5 Jondy looked alike and I think something or someone said she was from San Francisco (which is where I believe Jondy lived and worked), but I think it was obvious from the fight in "Radar Love" that she wasn't an X.

Interesting comments, everyone. I liked Asha, but when they kept on throwing her over to destroy the Max/Logan relationship, then over to Alec to destroy what little he had going on with Max and to give viewers a new couple to worry about, she became very one-dimensional and quite useless.

I didn't mind the Asha/Alec thing, but I hate that they did it just to give Alec something to play with while M/L did there thing.
As for Asha's short hair and lack of barcode, Zack was having his removed, why not Jondy? I think the "I'm going to kick your ass" scene proved she wasn't Jondy though.
it's 'Alec', with a C
DA was actually cancelled because the people on the show wanted to go back to the original formula and FOX didn't. :( I hate some people's egos..
Ashley was totally and completely wooden on DA... I dunno, I just didn't see her as a really fabulous actor until I saw parts of the BOP pilot.
and sidenote, where did THOSE come from?
her role and the wardrobe department just didn't do anything for her.
anywho, I'm happy DA's gone.. JA and MW are old news and AS has her own show. it all worked out.

My mistake, I know it's "smart Alec". Anyway, I still liked Asha. Maybe part of it was 1) I heard she was Gigalo Jane in A.I. (loved the film) AND 2) I'm a sucker for underrated characters. Asha wasn't a Max/Helena/Faith type character. She was suppose to be kind of a female Logan type, but she seemed a little fresher in the game than he was. And she took on a little bit of the "Bling" characters role in Logan's life. And honestly, Bling didn't get much more screen time then Asha.
Asha was sweet, I honestly LOVED Asha. I thought she was adorable. And with what little she was given, she seemed like a loyal friend to Logan, loving him enough to step away when needed. A good enough friend to put her groups name at risk to help Logan. The problem was it seemed the writers were afraid of being offensive by doing anything risky with her. A lot of people had a lot of gripes with Asha, but if we put her time up against some other "Eyes Only" folks, she didn't fair much better or worse than the rest (most of the non-transgenic permanent cast didn't fair well in season 2, what chance did a new plain-ol-human character have?). She just had more weight on her because of how she was sold as a character. Syl and Krit were certainly well loved just for being X5s and they were as cardboard as they come.
Here's a flip in circumstance though, Alec playing a pretty boy on Dawson's Creek and a dark haired Asha kicking a$$ an hour later. I still can't believe this is the same "I'm going to kick your a$$" no-fighting chick from Radar Love.

I saw her in DA and she was great maybe she didn`t have the best character but you can still see how good she is as an actress she definitly deserved better, but now she had a better oportunity to prove what she is capable of.
