View Full Version : Should he stay or should he go?

Just a little poll to see how many of you would like Jesse to remain on the show past the first season, and how many of you want him outta here!

I'm not ready to vote yet. It all depends. With this type of character there's a matter of what happens when he finds out who she really is. I don't think I'll know for sure until that happens. Unless it takes a full season to find out, in which case he can stay longer.

I'd like to see him stay, for the time being, so long as they introduce more male characters...Having one regular ain't that great and Wade seems like a whimp...We need more guys so we can divide into our respective shipperness! LOL
He should stay :) I like the interaction between him and Helena. He's one of my fav characters on the show atm and I think he adds an extra dimension to it, instead of it just being the Birds dealing with everything on their own.
I'm not much impressed by Shemar Moore as an actor, but I think I'm even less impressed because I don't think Jesse Reese is well-written. He's too much of a cliche - the one honest cop who is willing to face the truth that there's something spooky out there - and he's uninteresting. Bring in someone with a little more character and a twist that makes him interesting - and leave the Helena/cop pairing alone, because it's way too obvious. The only time I've liked their interaction was the "I won't tell you my name. You haven't earned it." bit, but I think that was helped tremendously by Ashley's performance.

LOL, he's an Emmy winner. And if I remember correctly, most people were shocked he actually won.

I think we should keep the cop and lose Bab's boyfriend. Whatever does or doesn't happen romantically with H/R, Reese could be like Helena's commissioner Gordon or something. Besides, some of the audience actually comes just to see *Shemar Moore*. Don't want to lose the Sham audience.

Who needs more guys? You can ship Helena/Babs, Dinah/Helena, Harley/Helena...hmm new title for show "There's something about Helena". All types of little fun (mostly slashy) UC ships with four ladies and one guy. :D (No, Wade doesn't count)

I really would like to see him for now!! He seems to be really cool and I like his character.
I like the actor alot as well.. the guy who plays him seems to know what he's doing and thats at least good for something :)

I think he's pretty cool (the actor and the character). He's a good guy and I don't like replacements of characters (it messes up the flow of the show). My only bone to pick is how...close that he and the huntress are getting. It's too cliché (thanks oracle) and it will soon become sinful. It's cool that those two interact with each other and I think it's cool they are becoming friend-like, but they shouldn't go much further. I think the huntress should get a man, and I'd be glad to try out for that part, but it shouldn't be Det. Resses. In conclusion, Shemar Moore should stay in the show.

I think his character is evolving. He's not nearly as annoying as he used to be... I'm curious as to how the writers will advance his relationship with Helena.

What does it matter? The show will be gone in a month or so anyway. They'll all be dumped.
Although, I am getting sick of that "How am I going to trust you if I don't even know your name?" crap.

Yep, the show is gone, sad but true.

Hmm. I do like Reese. He's not a bad character, but I'm not a big Helena/Reese shipper. Ok, very little of a Helena/Reese shipper, but they have their moments.

Let him stay, he's a good actor, and Huntress and Reese have a connection so keep him. Plus he's really hot, so you have to keep him.
I mean look at him, any guy with that kind of body should stay on a show, even if he stinks at acting. But Shemar is great so.

Yeah in Sins of a Mother when he broke that guys elbow I was like thats what we need more. Him getting Helena's back. It makes his character more...real. Rather then him behind a desk all the time.

He is a buffed dude! And he looks like he's is in excellent shape. He getting more violent could be cool too, but we no longer have any say on what can be done or not. I'm quite sure they are done with the final episode. There's no time for Reese and Helena to "seek others", so WB probably got those two to go "all the way" in the last episode. I hate WB! When that happens, No other network will want it. WB really know how to make a good thing bad. If he's Al Hawkes kid, that mean's Reese is half cracker. All right, whatever. I need sleep!

It's not a dumb question, it's a very valid one.
I'm not sure if I like the character or not either. They did help his character out the last episode by giving him more background..but..I don't know. Something hasn't "clicked" with the character yet. Not that it has much of a chance now.
I wish they would have had more men on the show, not necessairly "buff" or whatever, just more male characters.

But I don't understand :fishy: :fishy: :fishy: :fishy: :fishy:
Whats not to like ? He is the only male lead therefore if a greater male cast is something you value this should be the last thing you should post.

Ok...first off this was a poll to see who among us all liked Reese and who didn't..in other words...should he leave or should he stay on the show.
I'm not sure I like the character or not. Not much of your post made sense to me so I really can't comment further.

Well the show has been cancelled it doesn't matter....but i think that he should have been killed instead of wade......it would have made it more interesting....and besides..i would have wanted to how the relationship between barbara and wade goes.
NightStalker
12-13-2006, 12:38 PM
well, you're the only one. most people found him to be a completely useless, pointless character.
MUZBNUTS
12-13-2006, 06:44 PM
Well, I wouldn't say useless...more like brain dead. I think the creators were trying for a police/vigilante link of teh kind that Batman had with Commissioner Gordon. In that way, the character makes some sense...and of course, they wanted a love interest for Huntress. But as a detective, I would say that his character was fairly oblivious to the obvious. At least Commissioner Gordon had some brains.
Now, if we're talking about useless characters - one word: Wade!
NightStalker

i was referring to wade. sorry for the confusion.
Frostbite

I think Wade served his purpose rather well. He wasn't really supposed to do much.
And Jesse's only problem was his dialogue. I really think BoP could've fared better with some different, better writers.
Actually, barring our loveably Alfred and a certain adorable store owner, I think most male characters were lame. Seriously, the girls kicked ass while most guy's just stood around waving their bad dialogue.
Seriously, all the memorable characters from Bop are female. Nothing wrong with it, quite the contrary, I love strong female leads. But it's interesting to note.

Joining the thread a little late here, but hey....
Reese wasn't all that bad. He could've been better, but he probably could've been a lot worse. I think his character probably would have gotten better if the show had progressed into later seasons.
Now if you wanna talk about a character that should've bitten the dust sooner rather than later, I"m with MBN...........Wade.

I didn't like Resse because he didn't like to trust anybody. At least Jim Gordon trusted batman. And he was too serious. He didn't loosen up until the very last episode. I think if he loosend up in earlier shows, i would have lasted longer.
-For some reason, im the only one that is standing up for Wade. I thought Wade was a important part. He kinda showed us the softer side of oracle. A side that we thought we would never see from her because of what happened to her.

^ It's not that Wade was an entirely useless character. With the right actor (apologies Shawn Christian), and a little more depth to the storyline, I think he could have been a great addition to the show. As it was, he was kinda "blah" from the get-go.
If the series hadn't been forced to conclude itself so soon, I think it would have been much cooler to off him a little later on. Not only could they have created some great storylines, it would have been that much more damaging to everyone when he finally kicked it. *maniacal laughter*
Of course, then they couldn't have done Devil's Eyes the way they did, so.....kind've a "damned if you did, damned if you didn't" scenario.
Birds of Prey rocked. That's all there is to say.
