View Full Version : How Did Superman Get His Combat Attire?

I just watched Superman (The Movie) and there is a disappointing explanation of how he gets his costume. He kind of just gets it. Seriously, he'd have to get some heavy weight material (Batman's suit is made of Kevlar, Nomex, and steel) and make it himself, or get someone like our very own Alfred, who makes Bruce Wayne's combat suits. Since neither is explained, this is another reason how utterly stupid Superman is. Sorry if I offened anyone, but I like my heroes a little more realistic.

Well, in the movie he just got it. In the comics, Pre-Crisis, he was wrapped in red, blue, and yellow blankets when he was put in his spaceship, and since they're Kryptonian, they're invulnerable just like he is. His mom unravled the clothes thread by thread and sewed his costume together. Post-Crisis, Superman has this aura which protects everything that's really really close to him (ie a skintight costume), so he just wears regular spandex. Also, since his capes flutters away from him, it is frequently destroyed and therefore frequently replaced.

Hmmmm....I love you comic guys. I wish I could be a comic guy and answer every single question. Ahh the power. Anyway, I digress. Thank you Frostbite, and although I still cannot tolerate Superman, I am all the more smarter.

Guys ... in an effort to keep the book section going ... try to put Superhero and comics related questions there ... GL And I were just talking about it today .... and there are already several Superman threads there too.

Well, when I started this thread it had nothing to do with comics.

It actually gets kind of annoying, though :); people asking questions you assume everyone knows :) :) :) :) and having to type out this long-winded explanation that you've repeated many times to numerous other people who lack the knowledge :) :) :) :). As Stan Lee once said, "With great power comes great responsibility." :)

Frostbite, you're not as smart as you think you are. krypto said he doesn't read the books and neither do alot of people. The questions will keep coming reguardless of weather the answers have been there in front of them the whole time.

I know what Frostbite is saying. He's got a lot of knowledge in the field of comics so it does get frustrating answering the same questions. I'm in the same boat when I have to keep explaining what spam is ;)

None of us is as smart as we think we are but we will all be smarter if we stick to the topic. :p

As for the answers to the comic question posted in this thread, I can't help you so I'll leave it to the resident comic freaks - Jesse, Frostbite, Dray, etc...

Lois & Clark .. "the new advenures of Superman" thats Dean Kain.

SGH .... thats (at least in part) what this section is for ... even if its the same question being asked it still deserves to be answered ... and anyone that really likes the books as much as we do doesn't really mind .. it opens the table to lots of other discussions.
