I dont know if any of you noticed. I might be seeing things but there were a couple times in sins of the mother that it looked like helena had a tattoo on her lower back. :)

Ashley Scott (HUntress) does have a tattoo of a Phoenix (I believe is what it is) on the small of her back. So your not seeing things. Ashley also has a tounge ring if you didn't know that.

Does she wear the tongue ring during the show?

I haven't noticed it...

tvfanatic
11-07-2002, 08:03 PM
Yes she does. She herself stated that she took it out for a Disney audition and she didn't talk real plain with it out so it seems like shes just so used to it that she's adjusted to talking with it in. So yes she does wear it in the show and if you know its there and you watch for it then you can visibly see it. There is a picture on Ashley Scott Haven that shows it: http://www.ashleyscotthaven.com/gallery/bop/bop_s1/0102/0102_029.jpg

Look for it on next weeks episode and I gurantee you'll catch a quick glimpse of it.

Now I'm going to have to go rewind a tape and watch for the tongue ring.

tvfanatic
11-07-2002, 08:39 PM
I've noticed it several times in each episode but then again I knew it was there so I knew what I was seeing when I saw it.

Kea
11-07-2002, 09:52 PM
I remember watching that ep and rewinding the tape just to make sure it was a tongue ring or not. Then I read an article that confirmed it. So yeah you can see the tongue ring at times. But last night was the first time you saw her tattoo.

tvfanatic
11-07-2002, 09:56 PM
Actually her tattoo was seen in Slick when she was walking to the table just after Dinah told them the lie about a big fire in the town. There are also a few other times that you can see the tattoo.

Kea
11-07-2002, 09:59 PM
Really? Hmm I think I have to go re watch that ep again. I guess I wasn't looking for it because I didn't know she had one. :)

tvfanatic
11-07-2002, 10:17 PM
Yeah you really have to know what your seeing before you can see it. My friend kept noticing the tounge ring and the tattoo but she didn't know what they were so she asked me about them and I told her Ashley had a tounge ring and a tattoo then it all made sense to her. The brain works in mysterious ways by only allowing us to see what we think should be not what really is.

Kea
11-07-2002, 10:23 PM
Great story. But very true. At least they don't try to cover up the tattoo like they do on other shows and you notice this big old blotch on someone's leg or back. Then it stands out more then the tattoo its self! ;)

tvfanatic
11-07-2002, 10:30 PM
Yeah they tried that on Charmed for a while and it didn't go over very well and now they don't even try to hide them. I guess BoP learned from Charmed's mistakes. Plus Ashley only has one tattoo and its in a relatively easy spot to hide. But there not even trying to hide it. I think that it adds to her character.

Kea
11-07-2002, 10:39 PM
Yes Charmed was the main show that came to mind for me as well. When I used to watch the show back in S1 I found it funny that they did that. Then after a while they did it off and on at times.
I know in Angel they don't cover Charisma Carpenter's tattoo either. They do cover the cross on her wrist but with a watch and occasionally with makeup. But sometimes they can't hide it in certain shots and you can see it.

And yes it does add to her character.

LilahMorgan

Last season on Buffy I caught a quick glimpse of one of Sarah Michelle Gellar's tattoos.

tvfanatic

For many characters the tattoos add to the character and Ashley's tattoo and tounge ring definetely add to Helena's rebel side.

tvfanatic
11-19-2002, 09:29 PM
Ashley seems to of been rebellious when she was young but she has said in interviews that age and acting has mellowed her out. She said in her Craig Kilborn interview that she was in Hawaii and a guy pushed a friend of hers in a koi pond and she had been drinking so she said she had the mucles and told him to bring it on. The guy went after and she said she did her 'thing' however you can interpret that.

She said she hid her tattoo from her mom for years.

Ashley seems like someone that would be fun to hang around with.

About the tatto and tonge ring, both are cool. I want a tonge ring because my mom wouldn't really notice it that much and a tatto would be cool too. But anyways, I thought her tatoo was of a flower or something, it was colorful. And the tatoo and tonge ring do add to Helena/Huntress's character. I've only seen the tatoo in Primal Scream, but I haven't seen the tonge ring, yet.

tvfanatic
11-23-2002, 11:59 PM
If I remember correctly the tatoo is of a Phoenix. I think she mentioned it in an interview or something.

MiS-CH'vuS
12-22-2002, 09:51 PM
yes, it is of a phoenix... and, yeah i agree... i know about that whole charmed flop at trying to cover up the tattoos- they always had holly and alyssa wear those wrist things and i couldn't figure out why until this past season when they didn't wear them anymore and i saw tatts in those places- and it was really tacky how they tried to cover up the rosary tatt that alyssa has on her back when she would wear dresses and shirts with the back out- it really made it look bad with all that makeup- you can still see the tattoo!...i think they finally figured out that they were making it look worse than better, so they stopped...i agree- it does add a certain individuality to the character- things like tattoos and peircings that the actresses/actors have themselves... and ashley's is easy to cover up since it's on her lower back, so i don't think it's a big issue for the show anyways...i have one that's pretty easy to cover up, too (did that on purpose)...it's all on how visible you WANT to make it. :'D

wonder if ms. scott will ever give us a good look at her tattoo though- that would be cool....don't know how personal she is about it though- i know that alyssa milano is all about showing her tatts to anyone and everyone....i guess we'll just have to see. :D

I just have to say something anout the tatoo, it seems we never really get a really good look at it and when we do it's from an angle where you can't tell what it is. And when we can get a good look you don't see her lower back. I don't think The WB wants us to see it.

Word to the wise on navel piercings-- they're a pain (trust me).

I'm a big tattoo/piercing person.. the current count is 6 tattoos and 10 piercings (8 in ears, navel, and tounge). I work at a tattoo studio (I'm training to be a tattoo artist to put myself through school. I want to see Ashley's tattoo of a phoenix-- my first tat I got was a red phoenix on my wrist.

Next Saturday I'm going to have the one on the back of my neck covered up (currently it's a blue blob that was once kanji) with a kind of black cat head (I worked w/ a batman head logo thing I saw in a comic once, and altered it to look more cat like). I've been a Batman fan since I was a kid, so it's kinda fitting (that and I love cats.. *shrug*)

But MiS-- get a tounge piercing. Much more fun (and I've found better jewlery for it.. like my Bacardi bat one).

MiS-CH'vuS
01-13-2003, 01:37 PM
LOL, whatever suits your fancy, FB.

Birdofpreyrocks- you usually have to be at least 18 years old (with valid i.d.)...some places don't even let you in the door unless you are at least 18- some places allow you to come in with a legal gaurdian and if they say it's ok for you to get a tatt or peircing, they'll do it...if you are under-aged, some places will do it if you pay them off, but i don't trust those type establishments- they are shady imo....best thing to do is to wait until you are done with high school (maybe a little older) and to think long and hard about if you want a tatt- they last forever, and i do mean forever- think about placement (for myself, my back is my canvas- and maybe my calves, but other than that....), and it's probably a good idea to wait at least a year until after you've thought about getting one in the first place- if you still want it after a whole year has past and you are still as excited as you were when you first wanted it, chances are you will probably still want it when you are like 50... just makes sure the place you go to uses valid sterilaztion methods (ask BEFORE they turn on the needle) and all that good stuff.... same thing for peircings- but, you can always take out a peircing and it'll heal back up if you take it out soon enough- still you want to make sure you go to a valid establishment... there is info online if you go to yahoo or msn or another search engine- i did plenty of research before i finally bit the bullet- all kinds of info on health risks and things like that.... hope this info helps you out.
-much peace,
monique

MiS-CH'vuS
01-17-2003, 02:35 PM
yeah, some places do- you just have to ask. what do you want- a peircing or a tattoo?- they are usually less anal about peircings- it's the tattoos that some places are real strict about you having to be at least 18.

delphi
01-18-2003, 11:24 PM
I couldn't agree more with you MiS-- where I'm at we rarely let someone underage get pierced, and never tattooed. We require a parent/guardian to bring in several papers including birth certificate, their liscense, etc etc-- and even then sometimes we still won't do it. When it comes to getting another tattoo, I sketch out an idea, let it sit for a month, resketch it to see if I can make it better, wait a month, and continue that for about 6 months until I'm certain I'm still hyped about having that put on me. Of course, 1 of mine was done just to cover a nasty scar (and it took me all of 3 minutes to decide that I wanted it-- stupid move..).

But honestly wait. I couldn't stress that enough :D

you are absolutely right, Bcool- peircings/tatts are NOT for everyone- nobody should ever let anyone pressure them into it if they are not feelin' it... you may laugh at that, but i know some people that have allowed themselves to get pressured into either getting a peircing or tattoo - some regret it [especially if it's a tattoo and they really don't want it for the rest of their lives], but some love it and wind up getting more! - either way, [this goes out to all the peircing-virgins and tattoo-virgins] NEVER let anyone pressure you into doing it if you are not comfortable with it- and make sure you have done your research- esp. for a tattoo!

Hehe-- for the record on experience, depending on where you get the tattoo, piercings are more painful. If you've ever scraped up against a brick wall or scratched a scab, thats kind of what it feels like-- a continuous agitating feeling, not like someone's stabbing you over and over with a knife.

Of course, depends on where the piercing is too. And your pain tolerence (each person varies).

delphi
01-21-2003, 10:50 PM
If you're looking for ideas, probably try this site (some pictures do show some partial nudity though, giving fair warning)..

http://www.bme.freeq.com/tattoo/bme-tatt.html

But remember: don't steal tattoo ideas. Looking for inspiration is good, but don't copy someone's tattoo directly. I had one of mine posted on a site, and a few months later I noticed someone else with one that look *EXACTLY* like it, just a different color-- which that isn't cool..

Asking around is also a good idea-- like at any tattoo shop. Just give them ideas on what you would like and if the artist is good, they can draw something up for you and you can see if you like it.

MiS-CH'vuS
01-22-2003, 01:13 PM
to elaborate upon delphi's suggestion- in all the tattoo parlors that i've been in, they have they're walls covered in flash art- some of them are things that are sort of generic in the sense that they are "typical" of what some people think of when they think of "tattoo", but some are really out there- there is usually something to suit most types of personalities.

i've seen everything from detailed animal based scenes to simple animal heads to zodiac-related things to flowers to different lettering styles, and the list goes on and on... if you aren't sure what you want to get, it would probably benefit you to browse around in the tattoo parlor(s) itself and see if you get inspired by some flash... and even if you only have a general idea sometimes the flash they have there is good for trying to explain to the artist what you do and don't want (for example, there was absolutely no flash of the exact tattoo that i wanted, but there were similar things and i used a couple to explain to the artist what i wanted and didn't want and he drew mine from scratch- and it was PERFECT!) :)

hope this helps.

p.s. think long and hard about where on your body you want the tattoo, too- i personally prefer the back- people say it hurts there the most, but at most for myself it stung a little- depends on your level of pain tolerance, i think.

Frostbite
01-22-2003, 02:15 PM

I know that that particular area is pretty sensitive on women. For the guys it depends on how developed that area is and their pain tolerence.

The WORST place, as I will say over and over, is the ankle bone. Oh gods that hurt worse than the one on the back of my neck (which was right ON the spine..).. nothing in comparison to the ankle :b

It's a Phoenix, read this:

"Ashley admitted that her rebellion started at an early age with tattoos and a tongue-piercing. "Mom was not impressed. I was
young and thought it was hip and cool. I read for a Disney film so I took it out and I couldn’t talk well. Now, for this show, they like it but I have a fear that I’ll be 30 years old [she’s 25] with my tongue pierced. My tattoo is a phoenix. I got the first when I was 16. I hid it for years. My mom saw the tattoo on my back through a white dress and I had to come clean. I’m done for now. I made a promise that when I’m 50, if I want another one…we’ll see."

Huntress33, I'm not sure that there are any pics of Ashley's tattoo. Viewers caught glimpses of it on the show but I'm not sure if there are any screen captures either.

As for the discussion on placement and pain of tattoos, I have mine on my lower back and the pain was not that bad. I have friends who have tattoos on their ankles and they said the pain was terrible. Then again, they tend to be quite masochistic. *lol*

Sxygrrl Huntress

It didn't hurt that bad on my ankle so it depends on the person. The one on the back of my right shoulder hurt like hell. The 2 on my right arm bicep area were okay, the ankle was okay and the 2 on my wrist were unbareable! Really don't recommend that spot at all!!!

The bicep is the least painful.... keeping in mind they still hurt like hell!

Very funny, I'm sure.
You can tell I'm a leo- my hair is thicker than anything and dirty blonde! I keep telling people if I jumped out of an alley at night whoever was walking by would run away screaming about escaped lions. Apparently the wave in my hair makes it explode outwards: anyone got any ideas on what to do about it?

(Sorry for going off topic, what were we talking about again... oh yeah!)

Maybe I should get a lion tattoo? I still have a couple of years to think about it though; Oh well...

No, Mis-CH'voS is just trying to get under my skin again... not working this time :p

The tattoo on the back of my shoulder is also 6 inches long (Lamborghini) and okay, it stings more than it hurts. But aren't those 2 words the same??? It feels like someone is cutting into you with a hot razor and moving it down your skin very slowly. That is the best way I can describe the feeling of getting a tattoo.

So! Who wants to get one???

I've got one on my shoulder (USMC) and one on my back (SWANSONG). It felt more like a lit cigar than any thing else I can think of.

for those people that want to see her tatoo watch Reunion. go to the part where Jack is knocked out in the hallway and she helps him up and they talk. you can see the tatoo when she's walking away when oracle calls her to debrief.it looks really cool.

The tattoo got a bit of screentime in a Dark Angel episode too.Ashley as Asha, was walking down a hospital hallway wearing a blue and black crop top.I'm not sure but I think it was the episode titled "Boo".And yeah it's a phoenix and it's actually pretty large. It takes up quite a bit of the small of her back.

You can see Ashley's tongue ring pretty clearly in "Devil's Eyes", near the end, right when she's tied up by Harley in the clocktower and calling Harley an evil psycho. She's wearing the ball-type of piercing, and I thought it was really cool. I haven't seen her tattoo, though.

You can see part of it in Slick... when she come into the clock tower near the begining. She take of her coat and you can kinda see part of it... can't tell what it's of though.

i think its ironic that she got a tatoo of a pheonix so long ago, and then ended up on a show called BIRDS of prey :)

Yeah, the tatts hurt like hell but mine is huge so that contributed.

And Ashley and I have something in common, we both have tatts of a Pheonix!!:D

However mine has opened wings, like it is on the attack, and it is literaly rising from the ashes. The head is up near my neck and the pile of ashes is above....well.....my ass. The right wing tip is on my upper left arm, and the left wing tip is on my upper right arm.

Keep in mind I had all this done right out of highschool, I was a jock so my upper body is pretty big so it fit well.

All this was done because of my name:

Johnathon Pheonix - Ash is my nick name so it all fits full circle.

Oh, and I almost forgot, tattos are not for everyone (ecspecialy mine). As for the young person who posted earlier about getting tatts and peircings, as the others said wait.
Remember that thing will stay with you forever. I chose to get mine after hard thinking, you do the same. Although on some people, like Ms. Scott, it can enhance their beauty and appeal, it might not for everyone.

Just think about it.

hey! I'm 17 and was thinking about getting a tatto on my wrist of a cross. I was wondering.. is that place gonna hurt more than the ankle or is it like the same? Also whats the best place 2 get a tatto.... u know the most painless place?

Sxygrrl Huntress

The wrist hurts MUCH more than the ankle!!! The one on my wrist was the only one that brought a few tears to my eyes. You have to remember, all your nerve endings are in that area which makes it hurt all the more.

All tattoos hurt but the place that I found to be the least painful was on the bicep. The skin and muscle is stronger there. The thicker the skin, the less it hurts.

Maybe i'll re-think the whole wrist thinng and um stick 2 temps.

LOL - didn't mean to scare you off - I love the one on my wrist - it's of 2 dolphins and a palm tree. It's on the side so I see it when I'm writing. It's my fave one, just happened to be the most painful. But it's pain you can tolerate... it's just not fun so if you do get one there, keep it small!

yeah that's what i was gonna do. my bro has a big ass cross on his right upper arm! and he claims that there was no pain! Ha like i believe that! he said it took only 2 days to heal and on the day he got it he kept acting all manish (i think it was that he was testerone driven) tryna be all big cause he's the oldest!

Any way im gonna think about it and see if i can uh work through the pain of needles ( maybe one day~)

Get something absolutely original that no one has. I had mine designed specifically. It's great knowing that no one has a tattoo like you :)

I really want a tattoo but my mom will not let me get one yet. I am obsessed with piercings. I have 11 piercings right now (my tounge, 3 in my lip, and 7 in my ear) I also have a big staple in the back of my neck. My fav thing is probly my lip. But i also really like my ear it took a while the strach it out so it was big enough. If you want to see what it looks like http://www.bme.freeq.com/pierce/01-ear/A30118/high/year.jpg theres the link. I know i want barcode for a tattoo but i don't really know what else i want.

Anywhere where the skin is thin and bones are close underneath, it hurts more.

Yes, I remember the paddle in the other thread Dray :D I wouldn't class tattoo pain as the 'good pain' however :D

Well, the "good"pain is worth it because it is uniqely your tat. Unlike the "assembly line" ones most folks get nowadays....
