There's already been talks about this in other threads but here's the official thread on the latest Batman DVD to hit stores.

I'm very exited to see this DVD not only because its BATMAN, but because it has everyone i like in the book.

There will be appearences by Batgirl, robin, Penguin, Bane, and Commishener Gordon. All they would need is Nightwing, Joker, and Harley Quinn and I'll be straight. But I'm really looking foward to this DVD. What do u guess look foward to seeing in this movie?

P.S There's also some very GOOD and EXITING news on the JLA series over at the JLA/ Teen titan thread. If your looking foward to seeing the upcoming season of JLA then you'd better go check it out!!!!

P.S.S The DVD hits store's October 21st!!!!!!!!

I would like to know if this is the Phantazim in a new costume ... but the Logo on the costume is the same as the logo used in Batman Beyond as is the configuration and facial features of the mask ... so something tells me that its Max from the Batman Beyond series ... my guess is that something happened to Terry in the future and Max took over the mantle of the Bat and found a way to come back into the past to warn Bruce in an effort to prevent whatever happened to Terry.

Batman'sCOUSIN

About the mask face, the producer said they got the idea from BB only because they needed to cover her whole face because they dont want any of us to find out who she is until the end when she is unmasked. Now i dont know, it could still be Max, but i just wanted to tell you what i read at the site i got the other news from.

Jesse321
09-01-2003, 07:21 PM
Well lets face it with the style of drawing that they use mouths aren't the most distingishing features, so the logically the only thing that they would be preventing us from seeing is the skin color ... Max is black and no one else that I can remember in the series is ... so I still think its her.

Or what if it's a man with a beard? That would be a shocker.

Is Nightwing, Batgirl, or Robin in it?

Jesse321

Nightwing, no, Batgirl only as Babs, Robin in a few key scenes.

I watched it this past week and thought it was pretty good... I had the "mystery" solved pretty early on but that's ok. My one complaint is the animation... With features like this I'm used to a higher level of animation... bigger better stuff then in the normal TV show. Like in Mask of the Phantasm there were some cool CG shots of Gotham city. I didn't notice anything that really stuck out in this movie... perhaps they want to get it done fast or maybe they blew the budget on Kelly Ripa. This isn't enough to be a big deal so if your a Batman fan go get it, it's well worth the price of admition.

If Babs is in it is she already stuck in the wheelchair or not? I really need like 10 more bucks so I can get it!

In animated continuity, Barbara has not yet been paralyzed, and probably never will.

ah man I bet they will try to still make her Oracle to if they make another contiuation of TNAB

Frostbite
10-25-2003, 03:49 PM
If you'll notice, the animated Barbara Gordon is already a good computer hacker person, but she just does these things in the Batcave as Batgirl instead of in the Clocktower as Oracle.

spyke
10-25-2003, 03:51 PM
yea but I think it would be better for her to be parylized

Jesse321
10-27-2003, 10:42 AM
It might be more consistant, but alot of fans would argue that they liked Babs better as Batgirl than as Oracle, or making her a combination of the two.

Frnakly I like her better as Oracle myself, but I do have to admit, I do miss her as Batgirl.

I bought it last weekend and watched it 5 times already. A great movie. Bane was awesome and the fact that 3 women are Batwoman blew my mind. OOOps! I said that out loud didn't I? Oh well. The Bat's out of the bag. Hey Fostbite, what's the address of the Gotham Girls webtoon?

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was a killer animated movie. Check it out. Also the Batman Beyond Joker movie was awesome. I believe it is called The Return of the Joker.

Also get The Batman Superman Movie .. REALLY REALLY GOOD .. it covers how Bats and Sups first met and how they found out each others identities in animated continum.

Spyke,Why do you think it would be better to have Barbara Paralized?

Jesse321
11-12-2003, 12:00 AM
If Barbara wasn't paralized she would never have become Orcale.

Oracle/Batgirl
11-12-2003, 12:32 AM
That isn't true Jesse. She could have still been Oracle without being shot. At the time she was shot by Joker. She had all but hung up her Batgirl costume. She didn't find it fullfilling anymore. So she could have became Oracle without being shot or paralized.

Batman'sCOUSIN

DANG, I NEED TO GET THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesse321
11-12-2003, 11:24 AM
OB .. Barbara had "hung up" her costume several times during her career, but she always went back to being Batgirl cause he loved the thrill of it. That has been mentioned several times in BOP the book, the most memorable of which was when Dick took her to the circus and they were doing stunts on the trapesees.

While I agree that Babs could have just as easily become Oracle while fully capable, she would always have gone back to being BG at one opint or another, if even for a short while.

Personally, I was VEHAMENTLY opposed to Babs incapacitaion at first, but I do have to admit that I was dead wrong about it, she has become a much stronger and more 3 dimensional charactor because of it.

I think Animated Batman has done really well in the movie dept. I've loved everyone of them including the Bat Beyond one.

DBZ_EXP
11-23-2003, 06:27 PM
If they follow through, inthe batman animated features, to where batman beyond was then she might never get injured. In that version she wasn't injured and she was the fine. Ofcourse they never said why she had stopped being batgirl.

oh yeah, i am alive.

Jesse321
11-23-2003, 09:29 PM
Welcome back D .. actually I think they mentioned it in one of the earlier episodes, the one with Curari in it where her husband was testifying against some criminal. I don't remeber what was said, but I remember her talking to Terry about it in that episode.

VOXMAN41
11-23-2003, 11:24 PM
I can't remember all the details but she told terry that eventaully she had to grow up. and the fact that her and bruce had a slight fling for a bit was part of the reason she quit being batgirl.

spyke
11-23-2003, 11:54 PM
they had a fling?

Jesse321
11-23-2003, 11:57 PM
Yeah, I remember that too.

DBZ_EXP
11-24-2003, 09:34 PM
Yeah i remember the fling part, she even said thats why her and dick ended (but I don't remember what ep that was), but I don't remember her (or Bruce for that matter) ever mentioned her being injured.

spyke
11-24-2003, 09:58 PM
where was I when the fling happeaned?Mars?Neptune?Pluto?

VOXMAN41
11-24-2003, 11:24 PM
The fling was never on an episode. Barbra was telling Terry about her history with Bruce

Jesse321
11-25-2003, 12:03 AM
IT was in episode # 11

A Touch of Curare
First Aired: 5/15/99

A deadly assassin is sent after D.A. Sam Young, husband of Commissioner Barbara Gordon. Batman's attempts to protect Young lead to conflicts with Gordon, and some surprising revelations about the past.

Frostbite
11-25-2003, 07:05 AM
No, no, Vox is saying that Barbara and Bruce never had a fling in an actual episode, in A Touch of Curare the fling was long over.

Jesse321
11-25-2003, 08:22 AM
I know that, I said that before, but it was in that episode that Barbara told Terry about it whle they were having coffee in a diner.

DBZ_EXP
11-25-2003, 10:08 PM
Exactly!

I just wonder if they end the present thing with Catwomen, will they bring one of these characters in (not wanting to spoil to much), or maybe do something with Wonder Woman.

Jesse321
11-26-2003, 12:04 AM
Well the show, movies and books don't follow the same continuity, so anything is possible.

the panther
12-03-2003, 02:09 AM
Here's a question: who was Robin? They never said his true identity in B:MOTB. This has been bugging me ever since I watched the movie Monday. I even watched it twice and I don't recall them ever saying his name.

Was it Dick, Jason, or Tim? Anyone know?

Jesse321
12-03-2003, 09:12 AM
Personally I would think it was Tim. Dick was already Nightwing by this time and Jason was never really introduced into the Cartoon version.

Batman'sCOUSIN
12-03-2003, 10:29 AM
It is Tim. Like Jesse said, they already went through Dick Grayson Robin saga, now he's turned into Nightwing. The current Robin is Tim Drake.

the panther
12-04-2003, 01:19 AM
I kinda figured that it wasn't Dick, and probably Tim. Thanks for helping to clear it up, Jesse, BC. :)

Meta Master
12-14-2003, 08:21 PM
Yeah...it IS Tim. In TNBA then Tim was in that costume. Anyway...I am not to comfortable with this whole Bruce and Babs thing!

VOXMAN41
12-14-2003, 10:09 PM
Makes sense to me. Bruce and Babs were great together.

Meta Master
12-15-2003, 01:44 PM
nO!!!! Babs goes with Dick. They are the best comic couple in the world.

Jesse321
12-15-2003, 03:49 PM
Babs just dumped Dick recently because she couldn't stand the way he was treating her (and frankly she was right) weither they end up together at some future point remains to be seen.

And remember ... SHOW continuity and comics continuity DO NOT mix ... they are two totally different animals. (except to Frostbite, but he's crazy anyway  )

just teasing FB.

Meta Master
12-17-2003, 09:48 PM
i think that is what i dont like. I am expecting so much stuff from the comic and then my apatite gets ruined!

Jesse321
12-18-2003, 10:21 AM
That's exactly what do like, it gives you more variety. There are certain things like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings that shouldn't be changed too much from the original works, but comics is a medium that has a bit more elbow room to play with.

And at least in animated continuity Barbara is still Batgirl and Kara is still Supergirl !!

Batman'sCOUSIN
12-18-2003, 10:24 AM
Kara is not Supergirl in the comics? Who is she?

Jesse321
12-18-2003, 10:29 AM
The original Kara was killed in Crisis on Infinate Earths, she sacraficed her life to save Superman.

John Byrne re-introduced a new version of Supergirl during his run on Superman, who was a sort of clone of Lana from a pocket universe. She was a creation of the Lex from that universe made of protomatter and had some different powers than the original .. lets call this one Supergirl 2.

This alternate version was then mixed with human girl Linda Lee to become Supergirl 3, but she "retired" at the end of the recent Supergirl book.

There is a new Supergirl that was recently introduced in Superman (Supergirl 4), she allegedly comes from the future and is supposed to be Clark and Lois's daughter ... this story is still unfolding so it remains to be seen if its completely true or not.

Don't ask me to "clear it up" anymore than that, its confusing enough.

VOXMAN41
12-18-2003, 06:12 PM
Wasn't the protomatter version capable of shapeshifting?

Jesse321
12-18-2003, 06:49 PM
Yes, along with becoming invisible to all of Superman's senses, and telekinetic powers as well. She also had some super strength as well as flight powers.

She didn't have some of Superman's powers thought like his vision powers and super breath.

VOXMAN41
12-18-2003, 10:06 PM
If I remember correctly, didn't she suffer some kind of an accident that rendered her in a form, human-like but not quite.

Oops .. your right FB, I got the names mixed up.

**************

Vox, I think your thinking of the first storyline she when Sups first brought her into our dimension from the pocket universe. She was zapped by the Kryptonian villans and reverted to her protomatter state which looked like a humamoid lump of clay, but that was only temporary.

So, the supergirl in the Superman:TAS is Supergirl #1?

Jesse321
12-19-2003, 12:25 PM
Basically ... yes.

VOXMAN41

Frostbite

The animated Supergirl is sort of the same as the Pre-Crisis Supergirl, but she differs in that:

A) Her name is Kara Zor-El, but the animated one is Kara In-Ze
B) Her "civilian" name is Linda Lee Danvers, but the animated one is Kara Kent
C) She originally lived in Argo City, a formerly Kryptonian city set adrift in space, but the animated one lived on the planet Argos, a planet similar to Krypton
D) She was Superman's cousin, but the animated one isn't even related to Superman and is technically a different species
E) She lived with Fred and Sylvia Danvers, her adopted parents, but the animated one lives with Jonathan and Martha Kent

And many other differences, too.

Meta Master

I LOVE TAS Supergirl. She was fun...like a Batgirl for Superman.

Jesse321
12-21-2003, 10:29 PM
Hence the reason I said "BASICALLY" and not exactly, yes the idea was tweeked, but no more really than the entire series was from the original concept.

I finally got the Batman : Mystery of Batwoman for Christmas.

I'll give this one a 7 out of 10. Its not somethin I would wanna look at over an over again, like Batman Mask of the P, or BB: Return of the Joker. But its a cool movie. I did'nt suspect 3 Batwoman but I did know it had to be one of those three ladies.

"Chase me" was fun:D But whats with the no sound, but music thing? I also liked how they gave Catwoman some lines in her suit. The details better like that.
