Just picked it up 2 days ago. It was the only copy my shop had. What does eveyone think?

Personally, I dislike what Dinah does to herself, but she had to I guess.

It will be very intresting to see how the storyline finishes up next month ... Huntress battles a huge guy at least twice her size and BC battles savant with three broken limbs ... its kind of like those old time cliffhanger serials.

Which BOP comic # did it start on when huntress came back because i'm gonna start collecting those comics and i only want the ones with huntress, oracle, and BC in them.

Huntress was reluctantly recruted and started in Issue # 57 .. but I would advise you to start with June's issue # 56 which is when the new team started.

Also get the recent BOP Serect Files as it ties in to everythiung going on in the books now and give great info on everyon involved in the storylines.

Cool, i'll just do that. Is the storylines thing a book on its own, or is it apart of the comic series?

Jesse321

Secret Files is a standalone book but the stories so help set up the new team and the new storyarchs.

All I can say is good luck trying ot get #56! That's a hard one to get. At least the comic stores in my area and a few on the web don't seem to have it anymore. But you might get lucky.

Jesse I've been meaning to ask do you think they will eventually put the new collection into book form?

Jesse321
09-02-2003, 09:17 PM
I'm sure that because of the increase in sales they will at least put the first 4 or 5 into a collected edition.

By the way ... there is talk on the DC boards that Gail would like to do a Huntress solo series and or a mini series staring Huntress and Power Girl ... these are just rumors mind you .. but if i see anything I wll let everyone here know.

Kea

Well I hope they put them in a collected edition fast! ;) But it still appears that Huntress is going to help BC and Oracle every now and then...right? (I'm waiting for my order)

A Huntress solo series...interesting. (You do know your going to have to explain Power Girl to me...right!) True I could look it up but you explain it so much better! :D But do keep us informed.

Yeah Yeah .... sweet talk will get you everywhere with me ... :D here is the 411 on Power Girl.

POWER GIRL [Kara, Karen Starr]

First Appearance: All-Star Comics #58 (January-February 1976)

An incredibly powerful woman, yet with no memories, Kara initially believed herself to be related to Superman, a cousin or some such. She served as a member of Infinity Inc. and later the Justice Society until the older members of the group were taken away to prevent the coming of Ragnarok. Shortly after this, she discovered that her powers were actually the result of her being the grand-daughter of Atlantean mage Arion, who sent her forward in time to protect her from her enemies. She continued to act as a hero, while also devoting time to understanding her magical heritage, working alongside Justice League International, and also undertaking missions for Oracle, one of which went disastrously wrong. She also bore a mystically conceived son, who was destined to fight an ancient enemy of Arion's, whom she has not seen since. She then devoted much of her time to her software company, but was still prepared to act as a hero when needed by the JLA or by Oracle. Recently, she was inducted into the new Justice Society, where she has learnt that her origins may not be Atlantean after all ... this is something that will be resolved or explored in futre issues of JSA ... another GREAT book I would HIGHLY recommend to everyone !!

*****

The collected issues or graphic novels as they are more commonly refered to are usually release a month or two after the end of a storyarch .. in very rare cases they can be released in the same month as the final issue of a storyarch.

Huntress by the way is now a permenant addition to the BOP monthly series .. as per Gail the new writer.

LOL Jesse! :)
Thanks for the power girl info. Very interesting.

So graphic novels are usually released so soon. That's very good to know. It will save me from hunting for #56! Cool.

Kea

Can somebody pls catch me up on the goings on in BoP world, I went away for a month and haven't had chance to catch up with stuff yet. The last issue I got was #56!

Jesse321
09-07-2003, 10:07 AM
Neil your only two issues behind .. basically Savant has captured BC and is trying to blackmail Oracle into telling him who Batman is. Oracle has called on Huntress to help. Huntress is in Savants hideout about to go at it with one of his bodyguards, while BC broke one of her wrists to free herself she now has three broken limbs and is about to go at it with Savant.

Thanks Jesse, unfortunately living in the UK rather than the US my local specialist comic book store only imports small amounts of each issue for most things so unless you get there quickly stuff goes and I went to Australia for a month which meant I missed #57 then I didn't get to town in time for #58 unless there's a copy hidden somewhere.
There was a sudden big demand for Batgirl Year 1 so I only managed to get issues 1 - 5 can't find the rest :S

BAtgirl Year One is being release in a graphic novel format collecting all the issues in November I think.

Yeah I saw it on pre-order on Amazon the other day when I was hunting for something to buy. I ordered "Batman: Child of Dreams" which is the one drawn in manga style.

Jesse321

You'll have to let me know how that one is .. I noramally don't go for the Manga books.

If you head over to the DC Comics site there's a 10 page PDF preview of it. It looks like it's pretty much all black and white apart from the cover but the main story looks AMAZING, the detail in manga is so cool.

Jesse321

Looks pretty good .. maybe I'll pick it up.

I've only ever seen one copy and that was in a book store. I guess it's a little hard to come by over here, I think in dollars it's $24 but for me it was £17.99

We've had a really good local shop for over 10 years now, it's been run by the same couple for aslong as I can remember. I first went when I was like 7 until I was 10 then I stopped but I started again last summer and I must have spent over two hundred pounds in the last year.
There always very good, I've got alot of good graphic novels from there aswell as monthly comics. Recently I got "Batman: Year One" and "The Killing Joke" which is very scary and shows the Joker at his most psycho.

Jesse321
09-07-2003, 03:43 PM
I usually spend about 40 to 50 dollars a week on books alone ... on a week that they get Mini Busts or Statue .. 200 or 300 easy.

The Killing Joke to me was THE BEST Joker story ever told ... nothing has ever come close again.

Neil

I got this HUGE book a while ago called "The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" I haven't read it yet but it's 19 different Joker stories that were publish between 1940 and 1980.

Jesse321
09-07-2003, 07:32 PM
I think DC is doing a series of those books based on various charactors ... I've seen them at the comics shop.

Neil

After I posted that message I went over to amazon and see what details they had. There are two different ones, mine was published in 1989 and was simply titled "The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" but then another one was publish a couple of years later called "Batman vs The Joker: The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" both of them are unavailable to buy on amazon due to limited availability and they didn't have covers for either of them!

Jesse321

Thats amazing, because Amazon usually (and I stress usually) has or can get anything and everything !!

You are ABSOLUTELY right. That was actually the best (and first) comic book I've ever read.

For BOP #58, I thought it was pretty good, except that I haven't managed to pick of #56 and #57 yet cause well...I didn't. I'm a little confused as to what is going on, but it was a good read. :D

Jesse321

What are you confused about ?

Maybe I can help.

09-12-2003, 11:29 PM
Well, I'm a little confused because I haven't read 56 or 57 yet, so I missed out on a whole story. Ummm....maybe you could summarize what happened for me? (I'm new to the comic scene so please forgive any unintentional stupidity :D )

The story so far ... I'm TOTALLY over simplifying it for the sake of space:

BC has been captured by Savant, who is using her to Blackmail Oracle into finding out and telling him who Batman really is (little does he know that she already knows but won't tell him) Dinah has been seriously hurt and can't escape on her own (but won't admit that) so Orcale has recuited Huntress to go in and help.

Huntress just arrived at the hideout ... thats where the last issue left off.

Ahhh thank you. That helps alot. :D :D :D

Hey, the Japanese Batman book arrived.... absolutely amazing! Read it all in one night but it took me hours, there is so much to take in visually and the story was a great way to encorperate some of the major Batman villains without it being crappy. HIGHLY recommend it!
