Acording to comingsoon.net :

The Six Million Dollar Man is up and running. The project, long in development, was put on the fast track after the studio met with superstar Jim Carrey, fresh off the over $470 million dollar worldwide gross of Bruce Almighty, and set the actor up with writer/director Todd Phillips. The combination of Carrey and Phillips led to a fresh, hilarious take on the potential franchise.

The Six Million Dollar Man will be written and directed by Phillips who has co-written and directed the blockbuster comedies Road Trip, Old School and the upcoming Starsky and Hutch.

"The teaming of Jim and Todd is the perfect creative combination to launch the 'Six Million Dollar Man' franchise," said Dimension Co-Chairman Bob Weinstein. "Todd is a director with proven instincts and Jim is a superstar."

Dimension Films and Universal Pictures will co-finance. Dimension will be the lead studio on the film with Andrew Rona and Brad Weston, Co-Presidents of Dimension, overseeing with Mary Parent, President of Production overseeing for Universal Pictures.

Michael Zoumas, SVP Production and Development will also work on the film for Dimension.

Dimension has an overall deal with Phillips and has several projects in development including, School for Scoundrels, which he and Scot Armstrong are currently drafting. As soon as the duo completes the script for "Scoundrels," Phillips will begin working on "Six Million Dollar Man."

Scott Budnick, VP of Production, will supervise development for Phillips' Gentlemen Pictures, which has a first look deal with Dimension.

Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin along with Scott Faye of Collision are attached to produce the film. Scott Cherrin will co-produce.

The Six Million Dollar Man will be based on the popular 70's TV show of the same name. The show, which starred Lee Majors as Astronaut, Cornel Steve Austin, followed the adventures of government agent who was half man, half machine as he solved crimes across the globe. The show was based on the novel "Cyborg: A Novel" by Martin Caidin.

Jimmy Miller and Eric Gold of Mosaic Media had the idea of taking the existing franchise, previously owned by Dimension and Universal Pictures, and teaming their original comedy idea with Jim Carrey and Dimension.

As for Jim Carrey as the 6000G Man, well, I thought him as the Grinch would be bad, but I ended up enjoying that.

I'm actually looking forward to this now. This is actually a stretch for Jim. It's not like they're makin Ace Ventura 3 or anything.

I'm not contributing to that '6 Million Dollars'. I'd rather pay to watch someone play the "Bionic Woman". Oooh ahh.

Look at it this was, it might only pull in that much box office. I'm just glad it's not one of the new Hollywood pretty boys. It could be worse though, they could have got Ashton Kutcher.

Yikes! Ashton and Jim Carey are both bad choices for this role! I am not wasting my money on this movie!

I hope they aren't turning it into a comedy .. you know like the 6 Million dollar toaster oven or something.

While I loved JC in the Mask, Lair Lair and The Truman Show, he just doesn't have it to pull this part off, so lets hope he will only be producing the project rather than starring in it.

Who knows, he might surprise everybody. What if he bulks up for the part and really tries to do a good job? He is a decent actor and it's not like they want him to play the Hulk. Think of it this way, he's half machine (the charactar). It would make more sence to have someone like Jim in that role. Besides, how many more time can you watch him make his ass cheaks talk and other silly stuff like that?

Hey, I'm just glad it's not another movie where he's just trying to get the cheap laugh.

Its really surprising just how far Hollywood stars have failed to attact much of an audience anymore. I can't think of anyone short of Nicole Kidman, Maggie Smith, Cher or Merryl Steep that would attract me to see a movie that I normally wouldn't be interested in seeing anymore.

I think it's because Hollywod is just trying to force feed the public with what ever they can to make money.

I have agree with your there GL .. I think thats why your seeing higher calliber actors less and less these days, they ace afford to be selective about the projects they choose to become involved with and they wait for good scripts, which don't come along to often anymore .. I mean when was the last time we saw something like:

Terms of Endearment
Mask
Kramer Vs. Kramer
Rainman
The Way We Were
Superman

Terms of Endearment had a sequil but, I see your point. I've only seen two of those movies (Superman and T of E)so I can't really comment on weather I've seen something as good though.

I won't third it only because I think that I can see him in the part... and I agree Jesse, there seems to be very few good scripts that come around. I only saw The Mask (which, again, had a sequel), and that was a really good movie.
