I thought I'd see if any more of us, besides myself are in recovery from drink or drugs. If so, I'd be interested in chatting with you.:feedback:

I'm glad to hear that you're getting clean, I used to be a drug counselor for teens when I was in High Scool. I've known alot of addicts through the years and it's alway great to hear when someone turns around and tries to kick their habit. If you need anyone to talk to, you can PM me or you can look up my IM id's on my profile. I'll listen to whatever you have to say.

That's greatly appreciated. I'd love to chat wit you sometime on the subject. I've just passed my 6 month mark and am going strong. Recovery is the bomb. My only regret? Not finding it sooner. But hey, at least I'm here now.

Just updating you on how the holidays went for me. It was awesome! The first one clean in 23 years and I made the most of it. Played Santa at a family X-mas party, fed the homeless, attended an NA X-mas dance and even danced with my wife for the first time since we got married. New Years was cool too. Spent the evening with family and clean friends at a hotel in town for an evening of swimming, pizza, board games and conversation. This might sound a little boring, but this my new life now. And it ROCKS people!

wish you nothing but the best in your long term road to recovery. I have no addictions, but my late father was an alcholic so I have seen its devistating effects.

Hey Boppers....I'm now in my 10th month. My comp had a virus and I haven't had access to this board till today. So I missed my announcement of making my 9 month anniversary. Everything is still going great. Have had a rough couple of weeks this month. Just because you're not ingesting the dope, doesn't mean all of your old mental behaviors disappear. But I'm holding strong and getting thru them.

****BOP SALUTE********
Tomorrow,Vox and his Mrs will celebrate their one year anniversary. No, not their wedding Anniversary, but a very special Anniversary. One year ago, May 20 2003 Vox and the Mrs decided to take back their life! A very tough decision. May God guide them down their new path, and may the bumps be few.
I cannot attest to knowing what they have been through, but in my line of work I have seen the worst! I have watched friend try and destroy themselves, and seen the power drugs have over people first hand. It is a tough cycle to break.
A big salute from NJ to Iowa!!!!

Thanks everyone for the support. It has been a long and rough road. The addiction itself, admitting we needed help(which was as hard as the drugs), getting the help, dealing with life for the first time outside of a treatment enviorment, and moving forward. It's also been a year of firsts. Our first wedding anniversary clean, all of our kid's birthdays clean, my birthday clean, becoming employable finally and making and having new friends. Who only want to see you succeed and not wanting anything else from you. The best part is my wife and I surviving together and falling in love all over again. I also want to express my love and joy to those of you here on this site who have been so supportive. Especially my good friend Doc Midnite. Also Sfrgrl, Jesse, her Ladyship, and Mr. Abercrombie who has given me so much insight and wisdom and friendship. Also I like to thank Lisa M. for giving me a forum to discuss this subject openly and honestly. With class, maturity and frankness. The people here on this site are the BEST! Now.....let's cut that cake, hmmmmmmm?

Hey I forgot to add that one of the other perks of recovery has been my spiritual journey which led me to join a church and finally believe in God. After all, isn't he the reason I've made it this far?

Hey My Main Man VOX - Congrats to you and your Missus. I am really chuffed (an English expression which roughly translates as PROUD AS A PEACOCK FOR YOU) - As you trudge this happy road to destiny one day at a time. you know how much loving support you have. I raise my cranberry juice to you. God Bless.
