View Full Version : Is the show called 'The Huntress" ? Or BOP

The show is failing, I think partly due that, there's alot of Oracle/Babera Gordon fans out there (ME INCLUDED). BUT the writers have decided to make her the brains, and thats it. In each episode so far, all we see is like 10mins of actual Oracle/Babs about her. The show may as well be called "The Huntress", cause she's the one who gets most screentime.
Like her relationship with Wade, it could be delt better, if only both characters are given more time. But NO! we've gotta see the huntress, like in 98 percent of the time. And don't say how each character gets her own like episode, cause they don't really.
And anyway, isn't the show about the relationship between those 3 women ? And they've made Dinah a silly girl again, just as she was growing up in "Sins of the Mother". And did you see the end of that episode, the huntress kicking ass, seen that, done that every episode. Why couldn't Dinah kick ass ? Why ?
Because they want the huntress to be there saving the day.
Hopefully "Lady Shiva" is a Oracle episode, and doesn't change it's focus from oracle to Huntress, just because the huntress knows lady shiva's alter ego... but I doubt it.

I definitely agree with you. The show needs to be more evenly balanced between the 3 leads. Coincidentally or not, Sins of the Mother had more balanced storylines - and screen time - for Barbara and Dinah and did better in the ratings. Of course, the presence of the Black Canary may have had something to do with the ratings, too.

I'm glad someone else sees what I see:)
If the show does get cancelled (hopefully it won't) the writers should really take note that the show is in fact called "Birds of Prey", and where it originates from... COMICS. They should add more of the comics flare, characterisations and villians. They shouldn't keep on focusing meta-humans as villians, what about the truely insane humans out there in Gotham ?
And Harleen Quinzel should get her ass into action, dress up as Harley Quinn (no mask required, but she should appear as a teaser, to whats to come) - not neccesarily allowing BOP to see who she is, but a hint there and there, would be nice.
Better, more natural dialogue would be great too, especially the Huntress. And let Det Reese do something for once. Stop making him the goody, let his character have, well some character.
Ditch the Alfred intro, it sucks:)

I don't have to say anything because I agree with everything you both said.
And ditto about the opening. I think I clocked it at a minute and a half. Way too long.

Hi LiahMorgan. great to hear from you again -what did you think of Angel tonight "Apocalpse Nowish" ?
Back to the post, great another citizen of New Gotham, who sees what I (and not forgetting LisaM) sees.
Everyone seems to say "this show has so much potential"
All I can say is "When will it happen, and when it does, is it too late ?"
Not to confuse other citizens reading this thread. I do not hate BOP, I just think BOP should be constantly about all THREE leads, not just one (The Huntress), the other 2 characters are just as important, if not more. The WB ads say SO MUCH !
Oracle is after all Batgirl (in the past), why can't the writers write more for her character ? Her relationship with Wade... what happened there ?
And Dinah (in ep "Sins of the Mother") was so much better, why force her to be the silly teenage brat ?
The Huntress, really needs to chill out...
Just yammering on about this yesterday. Was asked why they bothered to call it Birds of Prey if all they wanna do is concentrate on Huntress. I'm guessing they just figured she'd be the selling point for it, but hopefully have realized that it's not working as a one woman show.
Should it get picked up for a full season, I fully expect there to be more Barbara on screen, more Dinah, and more interaction when Helena is on screen. Give 'em character episodes as they're needed [so long as they actually enrich the character and don't just take up space], but don't shove one character down our throats. It creates terrible backlash and gets stale, no matter how interesting said character is.
I look forward to further episodes [knock on wood and pray to a random deity] that focus on Barbara, Dinah, or the three equally. Geeker joy!

As an Oracle fan I couldn't agree with you guys more. The show needs to focus on all three women to make it more well-rounded and interesting. This way they will widen their fanbase by appealing to those who like Oracle and Dinah.

I've gotta say, great responses.
I thought I was the only one:)
I wish the writers will get the hint, that the whole Huntress being Batman and Catwoman's love child story can't make the show a big success. A show can only be successful, if it's got a great lead (which BOP has sorta has) and A GREAT SUPPORTING CAST. Not lets place the rest of the cast elsewhere, now focus Huntress.
It's like they thought "Well lets use the Huntress , Batman's daughter version, that'll bring a link to Batman fans" but what they didn't take to account was, well there's the huntress, but without her dad Batman, there's no link, is there...?
And if that doesn't work, you know what the Huntress was in the BOP comics, lets call the show "Birds of Prey", so we have other cast members to place her around with. And if we get stuck with ideas for the show, we can sorta take characters, that really belong to Oracle and the Black Canary, and make them The Huntress's baddie-of-the-week ! That's a great idea.
Oh, and to really make it a WB show, lets make The Black Canary a teenager, who can't grow up too soon, she has to remain a brat. Which is a shame cause I really liked Dinah in "Sins of the Mother"
I was okay with Dinah being a teen at first, but can't they allow to grow up ?
Still hoping though, full season please, so i can more of Oracle and Dinah, but I doubt it, cause as we all know, The Huntress is the star, she's the one with her boobs falling out in every scene... just joking, I don't mind it, but they )) really do distract the show.

grow up in three months. ????
helena 23 and she's still working on it.
the 3 "generations" make it interesting and if they'd use them all, appeall to a wide range of people.

I agree with all of you. I'm getting alittle annoyed seeing huntress in almost every scene. They need to work more as a team and they need to give each character equal amount.

I agree with all of you who believe the show should have more Barbara/Oracle and, yeah, more Dinah. Huntress is a good character, but the others need to 'spread their wings'. Dina Meyer is far too good an actress to keep in the background, and I hope the 'Lady Shiva' episode (if we get to see it) will delve into Barbara's character a lot more. After all, there are three characters (four if you count Barbara and Oracle as two, which they are) --- it doesn't have to be 'either/or'.

Since the fate of the show is still to be determined, why not we suggest a retool of the show, where The Huntress is taking a long, long, long vacation.
And then Oracle/Babs and Dinah can finally get some screen-time. it's probably the only way to save this potentially awesome show....:D
