This thread is for encouragment only...please no negative posts.

Okay I'm sick and tired of the negative things being said and all the people giving up. If your fighting to keep the show on the WB or move it to another network then the one thing we all need is encouragment. If you find any encouraging news or just want to give a shout of encouragment to others and show your support then post here.

Everyone this is just starting so don't give up. Just keep believing that anything is possible. Keep the hope alive!!!!

I'm sick and tired of bad news too. So I here to say I'll help support the show find ways to survive.

I agree. I understand the longshots but stranger things have happened. Keep writing the network, encourage others to watch over the next 2 weeks and maybe we'll get to see the show continue in the spring.

There's always the 2% chance something will fall in our favor - fight for it!

Here's an example of a bad show gone great through syndication. It may not help so much but at least it's encouragement. Got it from the DC MB just to pint out that if you try it can happen, but if it still can't happen, at least you tried.

Let's not forget that science-fiction/action/adventure shows in general don't always do that well on network TV. Star Trek wasn't even considered a great success at the time of its original airing, lasting only 3 seasons, I think. It was how it caught on in syndication that has made it the enduring classic it is now. But a couple of recent shows that have struggled, or are defunct, are Dark Angel and Firefly. X-Files worked because it was unique at the time, had excellent writing, and leads that became genuine stars. But even Chris Carter hasn't been able to match X-Files' success with his other productions (Millenium, Harsh Realm, Lone Gunmen).
In short, sci-fi TV, as a concept like Birds of Prey falls under (like it or not), deals with an uphill struggle from Day One, and an mediocre (at best) production isn't going to help.

I agree. There are some people here (I won't name anyone) who like pushing thier negativity on other people. I also think that maybe we can save our show. :) I'm gonna keep watching, and I'm gonna make sure that my friends do too.

It's called reality. Blame WB and Laeta for that. But keep up the fight :)

A candle of hope: The other major BOP website, www.gothamclocktower.com just updated its cancellation notice on its front page to indicate that "there is some buzz that other networks may be interested in the show, so it might not be over!"

As I posted earlier, I spoke with Brian Robbins' assistant and asked for some direction so that the fans would know how to focus their energies. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow morning, rest assured that I will keep calling. Once we know if there is a hope of going elsewhere, we will definitely post the news and FOCUS everyone in that one direction. There is no point in sending emails and letters to many different networks. If this is going to work, it has to be a coordinated campaign.

LisaM your the best. I think its great that you called. I already have my letter ok letters typed out and ready to go once we find out what 'other networks may interested.'

That one piece of news is enough to finally put a small smile on my face today. This fight is far from over and just starting. Thanks for giving us that news! Keep the hope alive!

Count me in as one of those who isn't giving up without a fight. I'm sick of the negativity I've encountered in the forum as well. But honestly, it shows us who the REAL fans are.

Now, if I can just get the "WATCH BIRDS OF PREY" banners to just stay stuck on the sides of my car I'll be all set. (just kidding) :D

I wonder what those networks interested in the show are? Please keep us updated LisaM so we could quickly start campaigning for it.

Be professional in voice and try this number:

Sharon Magnasun - Head Of Publicity, WB
818-954-7666

Prepare for a way to get around the receptionist and to say what it's regarding and what company you are with. Make something up, whatever.

I called, said my first and last name, calling from Vancouver, Canada. Sounded strong until I was thrown off by questions ;)

Good luck!

Angie :)

Unfortunately, Gotham ClockTower is wrong... BoP won't be moving I'm afraid.

Frank, with all due respect, do you have inside information? If not, this is an "encouragement" thread. We have enough negativity from all of the news as it is. Please!

For right now, we should assume that the WB is it. We need to focus our energy at the WB. I'm not dismissing what you guys have said, and I'm not agreeing with Frank. There's a chance for anything.

In other news, I tried the phone number and got about two words in before they figured out that I'm not an executive. You guys are right. We need to keep positive. There's always that chance that we can turn this around!

LisaM, thanks for your updates. I'll be doing whatever I can at the boards I'm at. Please keep us informed!

Keep up the fight, of course... but the info I have says BoP is staying dead :(

tvfanatic
11-19-2002, 08:47 PM
Frank would you mind letting us know what info you are talking about? You keep hinting like you have some kind of insider info or something. If you know something tell us that way we can find the good in it.

TheWraith

I have insiders within WB, I've been running a movie news website for over 4 years now, and I have good connections. My intel suggests BoP is dead, I've known for a little while the show would be cancelled, I've ben trying to get people used to the idea, so they wouldn't be as disappointed as some are, but to no avail.

I don't know, I guess I can't guarantee anything. For all I know, WB may change their mind tomorrow, or perhaps another network will come through... but, as of right this minute, the info I have states the show is dead.

This is the encouragement thread...that's all I have to say.

nwgurl
11-20-2002, 02:24 AM
We all know that WB won't be taking BoP in anymore, what we are a little happy about is that other networks are interested in the show. How would you know that isn't true, can you connect to all the networks at once...I don't think so.

Ivy

*wonders vaguely why some people believe negativity with a smile is encouragement* Mmm. Robin Hood, Men In Tights flashback anyone?

That being said, there's still a chance of BoP finding a new home, right? As long as there's that, I will be hopeful. Point me in the direction of the revolution's concentrated attacks, and I'll gladly help out.

I agree!!!

Frank was right, BOP will not be moving to another nerwork. Batman and all related characters are properties of AOL/TW. It was produced by WBTV for the WB network. Warners is not going to allow control of a still valuable commodity as the Batman universe fall into the control of a rival studio/network.

BOP stays on the WB and is not cancelled, or after the 13 episodes it gets reworked and then back on the WB at a much later date,or the show goes into syndication.

and don't take this a hating, I like the show, and the timeslot, and think that it is a interesting enough premise to show real promise. I mean I have watched every episode

TheWraith
11-23-2002, 04:20 PM
The show needs major reworking, no matter which network its on, but WB aren't giving it that chance to evolve.

Neptune's Rose
11-23-2002, 05:28 PM
I think they are...they haven't cancelled it yet...

TheWraith
11-23-2002, 05:37 PM
Actually, yes they have, last week.

tvfanatic
11-23-2002, 08:46 PM
Frank I mean no disrespect but please respect this as a thread to give encouragment and a thread to help keep hope alive. Your last post didn't convey encouragment of any type. I respect your opinion so please respect the fact that this is a place to give hope not take it away.

Neptune's Rose
11-23-2002, 09:45 PM
I second that.

TheWraith
11-23-2002, 10:11 PM
I encourage when there is a reason to be. The fact remains, the show has been cancelled. No offence, but would you prefer me to lie or ignore the truth? Sorry, I'm not like that.

tvfanatic
11-23-2002, 10:16 PM
Then I ask you to respect us and not post in this particular thread if you can't post some type of encouragment or hope. I know I'm not a moderator or anything but this is just something that I'm asking as a fellow member. I'm asking you to respect those that come to this thread looking for encouragment. Don't take the hope away from those that come looking for hope. If you want to continue this then we can do it in private messaging because I don't want this thread to be filled up with discouragment. Keep the hope alive!

TheWraith
11-23-2002, 10:17 PM
Okay, I will ignore this thread from now on. But I won't ignore the truth. There is a difference between hope and being blind to the truth. I see plenty of the latter on this board, dressed up as hope.

That's what all the people say
Your ridin' high in April
Shot down in May

But I know I'm -
Gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top
Back on top in June

I said "That's Life"
And as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks
Stompin' on a dream

But I don't let it -
Let it get me down
Cause this fine ol' world
It keeps spinning around

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate a poet
A pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing

Each time I find myself
Flat on my face
I just pick -
myself -
up -
And get -
back -

What is that?? What does this have to do with anything, other than the fact it proves you are a poetry and music fan?

I apologize if I've irritated or confused anyone here. I was actually trying to communicate the following in the above post:

1) This discussion on whether BoP is "cancelled" or not depends on how each of us chooses to define this word. I really think The Wraith is using "cancelled" in a different way than Dina Meyer, or even some of the others in this thread.

2) Just because something is cancelled may not mean that it is dead yet, especially with episodes waiting to be released.

3) I thought that The Wraith was intending to be encouraging and helpful in his own way. That messages are read and prepared with haste.

4) That I agree that the people who post at this thread have a responsibility to attend to both mind and spirit. They must inform, but lead, motivate, and sooth as well. Journalists, WB execs., anyone could be reading this stuff.

5) That I agree sensitivity is needed to avoid disturbing other people's efforts.

6) Lastly I was hoping to add more encouragement to the pile, And to lighten things up.

In trying to deemphasize the opinion part, emphasize the encouragement part, and shorten the message, the post may have been warped out of recognition. Thanks for the "Heads Up!"
