Okay I was just surfing the net for companies that syndicate shows and I am a fan of Andromeda, Mutant X, and Adventure Inc. so I looked up Tribune Entertainment (the company that does all these shows) and I found out they own minority interests in the WB: http://www.tribtv.com/menu.html

Quote from the website:

Tribune Broadcasting owns and operates 24 major market television stations, including the national superstation WGN. Tribune reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. television households, including cable and satellite coverage, and owns minority interests in The WB Television Network and the TV Food Network. In addition, the company owns the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

That might help deal with some of the rights issues. Plus they are a big syndicator and highly respected. Some representatives of the company post over at:
www.slipstreambbs.com so if there is enough interest in this idea I can see if I get in contact with any of them. They maybe our greatest hope of getting this show into syndication. If you support the idea to target Tribune Entertainment to syndicate Birds of Prey then post here and I'll see what information I can dig up on contacting them. Keep the hope alive!

Added note of hope:

By the way they are also the syndicators that syndicate 'Soul Train' with Shemar Moore so they will already be familiar with him.

Hmm very interesting. What do they mean by minority interests? Thanx for finding this. I love your optimism!! ;)

We could email or write to Tribune and ask them to pick up BoP.

Like I mentioned in the previous post I think I can get in contact with people that actually work for the company so we can see what our chances are and what we need to do. I'll see what I can do to get in contact with them. Keep the hope alive!

Hey you guys, why don't we start our own yahoo club, kind of like a save the idea of BoP thing on another network not save BoP on WB. I'm thinking that we should start our wn yahoo club or something so there won't be anymore ruckus between people as to not hurt each other's feelings and vice versa.

Oh and so we won't cause trouble or fights lets just not post back to the people who discourage us.

Sounds like a good idea. I could go make one right now if anyone wants me to. But I don't want to make it if no one will join.

Here is a website to go to in order to get some contact information for Tribune Entertainment. The site was created to get word to the executives about some things that were happening with Andromeda but we can use those addresses as well.

This is actually very interesting because of the minority interest Tribune owns in The WB. In NYC, I believe that Tribune owns the WB11, which is, of course, the WB station.

But, who owns the rights to BoP? DC comics and WB will fight to not let another network get it.

Is syndication considered "another network"?

Syndication is like getting a show to be produced by a non network and then selling it to a channel. BoP is produced by the WB and shown on the WB. Mutant X, however, is syndicated and produced by Tribune Entertainment and shown on various station. In my area, it's shown on FOX. Another example, Xena was produced by Renaissance Pictures and shown on various networks. That's what I believe to be the definition of syndication.

I strongly believe in the possibility of syndication, always have. But the only way to really be considered is to try to increase the ratings for the next few episodes.

So *please*, as much as I support these ideas in this thread, focus your energy on increasing the ratings. The rest will hopefully fall into place after that. No point in everyone writing Tribune and focus energy there and then ratings don't increase.

• Keep talking to people about the show, casually bring it up in forums or mailing groups, email them the trailer, email the flyer - or print it or put it on websites.

We've got a narrow window to make a difference.... let's get those ratings up.

Whoever is talking to that radio station on Wed,, good stuff! Call up your local newspaper Tuesday, ask if they will mention BoP in the entertainment section. Or front page if they are willing ;) kidding!

Any opportunity to reach a mass of people, take it. If you are going to the gym, most places have a bulletin board, you could stick a flyer there. Combine the one I made with the one from the webmasters for more impact.

Dispite disagreements that have been going on, this forum is still the main source for info. The 4 BoP mailing groups don't have nearly as much info or members. So to reach the masses, this forum will always be my first choice.

To sell a show, we have to make it worth selling. SPREAD THE WORD, GET PEOPLE WATCHING THIS WEEK! The rest will fall into place.

When LisaM gets info from T/R Productions, we'll have a better idea of what direction to take. Until then, PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE :)

Syndication is the only, slim hope we have, but my man from WB tells me that the studio is only interested in burying BoP... it's considered by them, and indeed by the industry as a whole, as an embarrassing flop.
