Hey, guys, as u may have heard, Providence has been cancelled. However, I just read here: http://tv.zap2it.com/news/tvnewsdaily.html?29138 that it may not be after all. Apparently, the execs think that they made a bad decision in cancelling Providence. Hey, if Providence can be rethought, why not Birds of Prey? If ratings improve, maybe we'll get our show back. *crosses fingers*

Only if Jordan Levin would take his head out of his ass.
...Okay, if Providence can at least get looked at for a second shot, I'd say anything is possible. I feel the need to do something. But I suppose all I can do is brainwash people to the joy of BoP, eh?
[that's a hint for the optmistic that have ideas.]

Which one is Providence? That one on Monday with the guy that moved to Colorado and his angry teenage son?
No providence is the one where a doctor moves back to her family home. Its on NBC and has been on the air for 5 years I think!
I think you are thinking of everwood?
Frostbite

Providence is incredible because it's still so fresh.

Does anyone know why the execs are thinking about uncancelling Providence?

They're not, it's just a rumour.

I think that its great that the execs are thinking about keeping Providence. I think its a pretty good show :)

They're not, it's a flase rumour. The cast and crew have moved on to other projects. Providence is staying cancelled.

I hate the, "Oh, just because we like the show we can make up crap about uncanceling and everything will be better in our peanut sized brains! Yay!"

False rumours will always pop up from time-to-time, the nature of the business.

Okay Frostbite and TheWraith...You two repeat after me "We are both very negative people that need to loose our negativity and find some hope in life. Hope is the thing that keeps us all going and keeps smiles on our face. We, Frostbite and TheWraith will try and be more positive in life an we may live longer lives."
I say this at the risk of getting attacked by you two but please try and be a little less negative. I don't say this just for the sake of the MB but for the sake of both of you. Both of you will live longer and happier lives if you can find a little hope in the world around you. Okay now lets see what kind of crazy negative things you can say about my post. I challenge you both to not be negative for a week (or hell even a day will show a change) and see how much better your lives are.
For others you never know what can happen so keep believing.

What a wonderful suggestion ;)
But I don't think they are negative about everything. TheWraith is surprisingly very positive about his comic book being successful.

Wraith, are you saying that the NBC President of Entertainment, Jeff Zucker is a liar? Who are you to say that Providence has no hope in reviving? Why would he bother saying "I may have made a mistake" if he isn't rethinking the show's fate? Personally, I thought that NBC were idiots to cancel Providence, seeing as how it is the highest rated show in its timeslot.

Well then maybe he needs to come to his senses and realizes that if avid comic book collectors laughed at it and said it was crap (I know nothing about comics so not my opinion...I wouldn't of bought it anyway but I'm just repeating the idea of the comic book people I showed the pages to) when they saw the sample pages then he may want to scrap the idea and start over. I printed out the pages and showed them to a few people (I even showed them to a guy at a comic book store and he and his buddies started laughing and saying it was bad and nobody would buy it...it was funny he started passing the pages around and not a single person said a good thing...I wish I had had a video camera with me because it was just so funny). But who knows maybe he can get enough people to start a campaign to save his comic book when the company comes to there senses and scraps the idea. Guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

Sorry to disappoint you, but my industry colleagues all love the series, including the editor of Wizard magazine, my friend Jeph Loeb, and such luminary writers as Roger Stern and John Ostrander. Of all the people that have read the script and seen the pages (none of you dorks have read anything of it, so you CANNOT criticize what you haven't read!), not one has said anything negative about it, not one! Diamond distributors are enthused about it, and have ordered it in the thousands. CSN has reported to us that many stores are looking forward to it, and I have written proof of all of this. And I can give you direct quotes from writing greats as to what they said and think of the series, and it's ALL positive. So, sorry guys, but what a few of you ignorant sods think mean nothing to me. Just as you were wrong about BoP staying on the air, you're wrong here again. Sorry...
And Providence is staying cancelled, as I said, the cast and crew have since moved onto to other projects, they wouldn't be able to return to the show even if they wanted to. They moved on with their lives. Maybe you people should too... this board isn't staying around for much longer you know.

If what we say doesn't matter then why did you close your thread? Afraid of the truth? Easier to dish it out then it is to take? I don't aprreciate you calling my brother or his friends or anyone for that fact (its just not nice) ignorant sods. As for getting good reviews so did Birds of Prey at first and then that died off after a while. I don't know much about comics but everyone that I have shown your test pages to doesn't give it a very long run. Better luck next time.

You can only offer an opinion as to the quality of my series once you've read it. Would you review BoP without having seen it? That's crazy! How dare you or anyone else judge a piece of work, any piece of work without having read it. Yes, anyone who does that is an ignorant sod.
As I said, Wizard, Jeph Loeb (who writes Batman and Superman comics and writes for Smallville) loves it, so does Wizard magazine, the premier comic book magazine on the market, and so do other great, veteran comic book writers. Those are the opinions that matter to me, not people who have no idea what they're talking about and have never read the stories yet!

You didn't answer my questions. Why close your thread? You started it for a reason...did you expect people to say nice things to you when you don't say nice things to anyone else? What comes around goes around.
TheWraith

I didn't close it, I'm not a mod or admin. It was closed because the admins were against personal attacks and attacks on work that nobody has read. So, don't be surprised if this thread is closed due to your immaturity.
I talk about the show, not individuals, that's the difference, and that's why I'm still here and posting. Remember that.
tvfanatic
11-30-2002, 10:13 PM
If you don't talk about individuals then why did you just call people ignorant sods? I'm not trying to be immature I'm just trying to get you to see that your words affect other people. Everyone has feelings and everyone has the right to make there own decisions (decisions about your comic, decisions about Birds of Prey, decisions about everything). This is a free country and as long as it is we have the right to make those decisions on our own without being told what to believe.

If you criticize something without having read it, you are an ignorant sod. If you read it and hated it, fair enough, but you haven't read it, therefore you are in no position to judge as to its quality. In that other thread, one person said the writing was bad... how the hell would they know that without having read the story? Can you understand what I'm getting at here? Answer me...

And people cannot comment on the writing, but for the most part the comments that were made were directed towards the artwork which you had displayed. So those comments are also from ignorant sods? And considering the hissy fit you threw, I'm guessing they meant something.
But, what I really wanna know is when I'll see The Wraith listed on these sites. They usually have spotlights and things like that to get people interested. I'm just curious, not snide. Curious. I'd like to see what these people are saying. And nice use of the name dropping feature.

<wonders whether to believe Wraith or zap2it> Hunh.
Does this have ANYTHING to do with Birds of Prey or Providence?
Didn't think so. Get back on topic and leave your fights to email.

I understand that writing part but what about the picture. My advice edit the pictures so it doesn't look so much like he is wearing a diaper. Sorry but that is what it looks like. Anyway work on the art and I'm sure the words are okay...I'm not big on comic books because I like to see things live action. Just watch who you call names. That is all I was trying to get out of this. I just want you to try and respect people so we can have a reason to respect you. Everyone is intitled to forming and opinion so be respectful of there opinions and I'm sure people will start respecting you.
TheWraith

Yes, you're right Oracle... but remember who started talking about my series in this thread... it wasn't I.
The art is fine, that's what grabbed the attention of the professionals and got us our distribution deal. Sure, not everyone will like it, but that's not an arbiter of the quality of the material, and people seem to ignore that many industry professionals love the work. That means more than anything else written here. But enough, as Oracle says, this is not the place for it. But again, talk of my series in this thread was not started by me...
I can respect anyone not liking the art, that is their own personal preference. I don't respect someone telling me to edit or change the art... the gall of someone whyo knows nothing of the comic book industry or art telling me to change the art. That I don't respect!
tvfanatic
11-30-2002, 10:25 PM
No it was started by me to try and get you to respect people more by seeing how it feels. I apologize but I hope my point was gotten across. Respect has to be earned.
About the art...I know a diaper when I see one...I was just making a suggestion...and I have seen comic books before and collected them for a while but I'm more into live action...it was just a simple observation and a suggestion. Don't take critisism well do you? Anyway Oracle is right this is not the place. If you want to continue this PM me and we can.
TheWraith
11-30-2002, 10:26 PM
Read my above post. I don't respect anyone telling me to change the art... who the hell are you to tell me to change the art?!
And stay on topic... you've been warned by Oracle, you started this mess, just leave it be!
tvfanatic
11-30-2002, 10:33 PM
I'm also the one that told Oracle it was going on. I know I was wrong and I would of backed off if you had stopped calling people names.
TheWraith
11-30-2002, 10:37 PM
If you'd just said "I don't like the art" that would have been fine. But no, you had to say to change the art, you had to say it wouldn't sell and other ludicrous statements. How do you know it won't sell? Diamond has ordered it by the thousands, it has already sold...
And remember, this whole ruckus in this thread wouldn't have existed in the first place if you hadn't started it and strayed off topic, as Oracle told you not to do! No matter what excuse you offer, the fact remains, you started it!! You attack me and my work, especially without having read it, I attack back, and I always will!!! Remember that before you try and start something again!!!!
Geez! I don't want to close this thread but if neither of you is going to comment on it, stay OUT! This isn't a "who started first" argument.
Get back on topic.

Now back on topic...So the prez of NBC said he was going to reconsider? I think that's a great sign for the show. Fans of Providence must be really happy...as am I!! So maybe we can get the WB execs to reconsider as well. A little hope...
Oh well I was sad to see theTheWraith! thread go as I was having a good ole time there. But if anyone still wants a good laugh I anticipated that Frank would delete to due his embarassment. I saved the thread as a word file as I was sending it to my friends and family :) So if anyone wants it by all means pm me!!
So does anyone else have any ideas for the campaign. I really like the idea of sending in BOP comics to the WB. Plus, I think BoP comics would work much better than letters.

All very good ideas. I think Providence will be back and if they can come back then who knows about BoP. Things maybe going on behind the scenes but anything can still happen. You never know when a miracle will come our way.
I really want to know what NBC was thinking about Providence. Its a very good show with good ratings.
And I agree anything can happen with BoP. And sometimes a miracle needs a little push.
As for what we as fans can do besides writing to UPN, Tribune Entertainment, SCI FI Channel and others to ask about syndication.
I think a must is writing to Tollin/Robbins Productions. Telling them you like this show and that you want it to continue even if it means syndication.
In my letter I mentioned that fans can only do so much.
Also let Jordan Levin know what you think.
