The Lady Shiva episode came in at No. 82 for the week, tied with Buffy, among others. The episode tied or beat ALL of UPN's shows. Birds of Prey was also ranked higher than both Charmed and Angel.

Really. Oh wow! That sounds good. It would be nice if the WB would take note of it as well!

Do you know how BoP did in last week's episode Split nationally? I assume it went up? And, can you post the link to the info as well? Thanks.

Ooh, ok thanks. Hmm, do you think this jump is a good sign? Could it be a fluke? Is it enough to bring BoP back from the dead?

Gothic Knight

I've learned a long time ago that anything is possible. Was it a fulke? nope. Is it enough to bring BoP back from the dead? Like i said anything is possible but we have to keep the presure on. It's not over yet and we still have some fighting to do.

I know I had the radio on the whole day last week and never hear a commercial for Lady Shiva. So they did not really over promote it (in my area at least). Unless you count the fans! ;)

The bachelor show was gone which might have taken some BoP viewers.

Lady Shiva did have good writing and a good grip on the characters. If the rest of the episodes can keep up this kind of writing (and ratings) then who knows.

Put me down for not a fluke as well! And this fight is soooo not over yet!

Freak yeah, man!!! It did pretty good for having barely any promotion. There's still hope for this awesome show!!

This is how BoP ranked since the pilot:

Three birds and a Baby- 104
Sins of The Mother- 90
Primal Scream- 109
Split- 103

Lady Shiva- 82

As you can see BoP is begining to fly again

Damn, I really need to rant for a second on the American public.
*SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC*

All of the shows compared in this thread are some of the best television there is. Shows that used to be good, like ER, are past their prime and entirely different shows then when they began. Buffy, Angel, Charmed, and BoP are simply the best produced programs on television. What's remarkable is that these shows are produced for a tiny fraction of the cost of other shows (for instance, an entire episode of Buffy could be financed by just two of the FRIENDS cast members single episode salaries.) Thank goodness that Buffy and Charmed are doing so well in syndication, and in Buffy's case on DVD (Season 3 one month from this week!). But it's just so annoying that people are wasting time watching SURVIVOR and garbage like that when such good shows, like BoP, are always on the brink of being cancelled because Nielsen only tracks middle-upperclass suburbanites, and ignores the rest of the population in it's tabulations. Example - Buffy, BoP, Charmed, and Angel are huge on college campuses across the nation - but do you think the Nielsen's ever monitor them?

Sorry for the rant, and please don't feel like you have to reply and put me in my place :). I know I'm just complaining, but I think you guys (as BoP watchers) can idenify with the frustration.

The ratings for shiva are higher than I ever would've expected...I'm soo pissed look at that HUGE jump in ratings!!! It actually gained viewers off the lead-in. How can they cancel it?! WTF!! This is nuts...I just don't get it...Keep Fighting Guys I KNOW we have a chance.

Sorry If I seem militant I've been stoked on No Doz for the past 48 hours. Damn finals...

*falls off her chair* Holy crap. That's not just a jump... that's insane. In a good way.

*jaw drops* Now if we could only keep that up for the other new episodes...

Hopefully the people we want to notice these ratings are seeing them. I agree, it is quite a jump, huh?

Huh? "Lord of the Rings Special"?

Whoa - STOP THAT BUS !!!!

Hopefully, people are NOT getting confused here.

Lady Shiva Overnighted at 4.8 / 7, it was part of last week's double feature. This Overnight figure came out waay late, perhaps because of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

"Lord of the Rings" was 2 days ago.
That evening, the rerun was "Prey for the Hunter", which Overnighted at 2.7 / 4. The Final Nielsen for this rerun should be out next week.

Thanks !

IVE BEE WAITING FOR THESE RATINGS! I thought it would only be about 4.2 or something. I was wrong. I knew it would get good ratings.

The WB is really pissing me off. They realize they are cancelling a good show with good rollercoaster ratings. Charmed was like that... So were alot of other shows. The least they could do is give it 15 episodes like Family Affair and Do Over (which are both doing worse than BOP).

Shadowstrike
12-08-2002, 08:18 PM
Gha, Family Affair is so stupid. I mean, Tim Curry is awsome, (gotta love The Rocky Horror Picture Show), but Family Affair is really cheesy. I mean god, laugh tracks? Bleh.

But as I said earlier, megets the impression that TheWB doesn't like Birds of Prey. It's far too dark. As is most Batman-related material. Hence the campy stupidity that Warner Bros wanted Joel Schumacer to create for Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

Superman, on the other hand: Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, fights for truth, justice, and the American way. Bird, plane, Superman, yadda, yadda, yadda. How could TheWB resist? I mean, what kind of character could be a better choice to appeal to post-9/11 overly patriotic American fanatics?

And let's not forget that naive assumption that most Americans are Christians and fear the darker, gothic, tragic atmospheres attached to the Batman legacy.

Here's to the upcoming, Tim Burton-directed Batman musical. Let's hope WB doesn't ax that, too.

Ok I just have to ask but isn't Angel a more darker show then BoP? I mean look at the last episode of Angel. It was a very bad remake of 'The Graduate if you ask me. Need I say any more?
I have talked to some of my friends, who I drive nuts about saving the show as well, and they have said the WB seems to not like BoP because of the strong female cast. Don't get her started please!

I mean yes BOP is dark. But I mean do I really want to watch a show where everything is happy, warm, and light-hearted? No. Hence the fact that I watch CSI, Providence and Alias.
Can't we also argue that BoP do fight for justice?
Just wondering. I'm happy this ep did well. Come on WB wake up and smell the coffee.
