Are you new to New Gotham? Unsure about this "campaign" everyone is talking about, or how you can get involved? Search no more - the answers are here!

Birds of Prey, as most people know (but we must allow for even the completely uninformed), is a one-hour serial drama currently airing on The WB on Wednesday nights at 9 PM (times and dates may change in smaller markets). The story follows three women fighting crime in the once-great city of Gotham after its hero, Batman, has departed. Barbara Gordon was once Batgirl, but a crippling accident has left her in a wheelchair and she now fights crime from behind a computer screen as Oracle, a master of cybernetics and technology. Helena Kyle is the daughter of two opposing sides in the battle for justice in the dark city - its champion, Batman, and its master criminal, Catwoman - and now fights crime while also fighting the choice to walk the path of goodness as her father did before her or to succumb to the darker instincts of her mother. Dinah Lance is the daughter of the legendary espionage agent known as the Black Canary, and after her powerful psychic visions drew her to New Gotham she has chosen to remain to fight crime and continue to practice her emerging mental abilities to someday become a true hero herself. Together, these women form a powerful troika of heroes who fight to find a balance between a life spent prowling the dark shadows of the night versus a normal life during the day, the ever-continuing battle between right and wrong both within the city and themselves, and walk the fine line between simply beating up bad guys... or saving the world. They are the Birds of Prey.

Unfortunately, The WB has recently handed down a decision to cancel this show - prematurely, fans cry, as recent ratings begin to climb again. To this end, Birds of Prey Online (the main site for the forum you're viewing) has been supporting an official campaign to keep our show on the air. The time to act is now, before the final axes fall on the production - do your part to help keep the Birds flying! After the campaign has begun, we will be alerting the media nationwide (via press releases) to our efforts in the hopes to draw more attention to our cause and to show The WB that we mean business.

If you have questions about the campaign - how to participate, what it entails, where to send fan mail - please be sure to see the official page, located HERE (http://www.birdsofpreyonline.com/campaign). Any further questions may be addressed to the site administrators and webmasters, Ted (that'd be me!) and Lisa (called LisaM here on the forums) via private message or email (webmaster@birdsofpreyonline.com).

Join the fight now and help save Birds of Prey!

Quick question...

Have any of the television shows picked up the story and what can we do to get that done?

I haven't heard of the campaign being reported on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood or Extra. (I never watch any of these shows so I can't report first-hard.) I tried to send the press release to each but was unsuccessful in finding a valid email address. My guess is that one way these shows search for stories is from the national wires. Thus, they will have seen the Variety article...as picked up by CNN.com/Entertainment. If they want to do a story on it, they will...The Variety article also had our URL so they could contact us if they needed any additional info.

If anyone is able to find a valid email address for submission of press releases or story ideas for any of these shows, let me know and I will send them a press release.

Did a search to see what I could find. Will these help? The first is a message board for Access Hollywood called the Access Hollywood Inbox. It says something about the possiblity that some posts may be chosen to appear on the TV show. The second is Entertainment Tonight's Ask ET page. Hope I helped out a bit. Would love to save this show!

Thanks! I will check out both links tomorrow and see if we can get the info about the campaign to them. Much appreciated.

No problem! The more attention we draw to the show, the greater possibilty of someone else picking it up! I hear that Scifi made a bid and the WB turned it down. Is that true?

Right now, it's an unconfirmed report (read: rumor).

It may just be a stage in the negotiating process; if they're smart, they will do what UPN did when it acquired Buffy from The WB -- appeal directly to Turner Broadcasting.

Here's an idea;
we should try and get this in some newspapers. It would probably be easier than trying big name TV shows like ET and Extra.

Because, you see, the people who work on TV read newspapers like other people...

We should also try TV news for different stations. I don't know if anyone has heard of these stations (I am Canadian, after all):
Global, CTV, CBS-Kiro, NBC-King, ABC-Komo, CBC, and Newsworld.

It might not do anything, but we should give it a try :)

What I meant was, we should keep attempting to be recognized on Entertainment Tonight, ect., and try the newpaper thing. I mean, isn't it the more publicity the better?

Silver Cougar - a press release was sent out in December regarding the campaign to around 150 major newspapers and writers across the US and Canada.

If you go to the main website, you will find some of the papers and news websites that mentioned the campaign.
www.birdsofpreyonline.com

Welcome to the forum! The best way to help the campaign is to send comics to the 4 people listed on the campaign page and to call the WB's audience feedback line and tell them how much you love the show. We are trying to keep their voicebox full daily :D

And you can promote the show and encourage people to download episodes on the internet. The more people that get interested, the higher the ratings will be for the last 2 episodes.

Keep the birds flying!!!

Judging from your list of channels, they are all westcoast stations. You in Vancouver too?

Burnaby, accually. It's between Vancouver and Coquitlam.

I heard about the revoulution yesterday - I didn't realize it had already been done. But it is hard to keep your thoughts straight at 11 at night. I had a hard enough time writing.

So far I've mailed 18 e-mails which were all identical except for a different picture at the bottom; I managed to find all the comic book covers on the net.

Tell me if I say anything stupid, I have this bad habit. I guess it comes from constantly being the clown:)

Well glad you found out now - all of us would love for you to join in and send comics. Here's a tip, ask the comic shop for their discounted comics... so much cheaper - one dollar each.

I'm in Vancouver :)

WELCOME :D

Newspapers would be a good idea. I'm not sure if TV newscasts would be interested, as BoP competes with shows on these networks. We can pretty much forget about the Canadian networks (Global, CTV, CBC, Newsworld) as WB execs won't even get those channels.

Although, what about CHUM? They broadcast BoP in Canada, and recently have had to replace it with reruns of "Earth: Final Conflict" which are sure to get horrible ratings. They also show many WB shows including Smallville, but I think these are syndicated in Canada. I'm not sure if the WB listens to their foreign affiliates, but it's worth a shot. Since you guys seem to live on the west coast, you could try contacting NewVI Victoria or CityTV Vancouver. There aren't any CHUM stations in my area (Winnipeg) but we could try the ones in Ontario or ASN on the east coast.

We should also focus on other countries - BoP seems pretty popular in Latin America, and I think it recently started showing in Australia. There also seems to be a large campaign in the UK on these boards. If networks outside the US are willing to pay for the rights to show BoP, it has to show the WB that it is worth saving.

And part of your description was wrong, "Barbara Gordon was once Batgirl, but a crippling accident has left her in a wheelchair ..." it was no accident the joker shot her point blank.

First of all how do you know WB execs don't get Canadian channels?! We may not like it, but there has to be at least ONE smart person in there, or else the WB wouldn't exist. And a good exec would keep their eyes everywhere, because these days every person's input counts. (Even us Canadians  ) All throughout history empires have been uprooted and cast aside by people who "didn't count". Ever heard of Joan of Arc?

Second, what does syndicated mean?

And finally, when I put out that idea The NewVI and CityTV were exactly what was on my mind.

:smoke: No need to thank me for my great idea, just doing my job :smoke:

Hi there just found this site 15 minutes ago. Frankly I didn't think anyone else watched this show gald to see I was wrong. I agree 100% that it needs to be saved I was also very confused to the whole season finale thing beacuse I also watched it on Space The Imagination station while they aired it and they claimed a while ago that they aired the series finale. Anyway watching the local fox network having completly given up on ever seeing the show again I was shocked when they were promoting the 2 hour season finale on the WB hour tonight. Anyway glad to see that others want the show to be saved as well.

Greetings and salutations, One and All!!!
Someone who could help is Wizard Magazine (the guide to all things comics-related). They had gone on-set and had interviewed the cast, which was to have been published in the latest ed. (#138). These folks are good about helping groups like ours. They can be contacted at www.wizardworld.com. James McLaughlin is a senior writer, columnist, and is in charge of the letters column, Magic Words. If everyone e-mails and snail mails Wizard, we should be able to garner their help!

LOL, Jesse. Mrsmaggs, I thought that the WB took down their Feedback boards on Thursday along with the rest of the BOP pages. Jesse had been posting links there.
