While our numerous attempts to save BoP like writing letters to executives, sending comics, contacting advertisers, and writing articles and press releases are great, ratings is still a huge factor. We should try to still get the ratings near a 5.0 overnight. With good ratings like that the WB and other stations would definately consider picking up BoP.

Tell your friends, workers, classmates, whoever to watch and give out flyers because big ratings = big bucks for network CEOs and that's what they want.

Aside from comic shops, another place to post flyers is in bus shelters, coffee shops, and whatever bulletin boards you can find (school, gym, etc).

These are high-traffic areas where people have time to kill and usually read the advertising around them - I know I do.

Try to find that hook to draw the viewer in. For example, in a few weeks will be an episode of Birds Of Prey featuring an actor from X-Files. So this provides an *excellent* opportunity to advertise to X-Files fans. And I know there are a ton of them out there, seek them out online.

Grab this chance to tell them about BoP. And invite them to this forum and to look over the campaign. Maybe they will join our fight and send a comic themselves too :)

Everywhere and Anywhere baby. Borders Books and Music, Comic Books stores, we all are going to hit the pavement. :-p

Hmm....what about Movie theaters? Lotr is the next big movie that I know of that's coming out...we could get some fans that way..the only problem is I think LOTR comes out that day so they'll all be at the theater. :(

We don't even have to do that ... if we can just show that there's a steady pattern of growth, that alone might be enough.

I say promote to anyone you can and the ratings will go up. Make it an interesting approach/letter - no one likes a bold announcement.. Get them excited to watch... and direct them to the campaign page, always ;)

Agreed SevenSlave :)
A pattern of growth is what matters, if we continue to promote as sxygrrl and others have suggested we'll bring in many new viewers and continue to let the ratings rise :)

A current point worth promoting: Inform all the X-Files fans you know (even the one's you don't think would be Birds of Prey fans ) that Mitch "Skinner" Pileggi will be gueststarring on December 18th. I myself, as an X-files junkie (it airs 5 times a day here most days :D) am dying to see this :D

We did well with Lady Shiva, it score a 4.8/7 in the overnight rating. What we need to do now is score a higher rating for "Nature of the Beast". If we can pull it of then The WB will have no choice than to take a second look to the decision of canceling the show or get enough interest from another network or get the producers to take the show to sindication. Are job is simple we have to find a way to get the ratings higher and keep them that way. We did it with Lady Shiva we can do it again. It with also help alot if we cam keep the numbers of the reruns episode as high as possible, we did it with the repeat of "Prey for the Hunter" they got high enough and mediaweek.com asked; Why the rush of canceling? we have to keep the presure on.

Forget about The WB; Levin has stated in no uncertain terms that there is nothing the fandom can do to change his mind. :(

After seeing what he did to Dina Meyer after the Howard Stern interview, I'm beginning to wonder if the man isn't two sandwiches short of a picnic. He has clearly shown himself to be a man of questionable character.

SevenSlave,
Remember that Levin has bosses too who will definitely bring a little heat down if the ratings take off :D He is in fact answerable to AOL/Time-Warner and thier stockholders ;)

I see him getting more heat from Turner than anyone else (Turner IS The WB's parent company, after all ;) ).

Either way we can make them stand up and take notice by following the campaign and inviting viewers to watch :)

Exactly.

The more I think about it, the more I am really really resistant to losing this show.

There is entirely too much to be told here.

I think Levin tried to short-circuit the fanbase by cancelling the show before it could really grow into something.

Afterall, everyone knows that genre TV needs longer than 6 eps to find it's groove..

I also think he was too late.

More Viewers equals higher ratings which is key right now.

I agree with you all, but there's one teensy weensy problem. (P.S, not to be a downer, i luv this show). We luv the show. Others do too. But the problem is, is that the W.B dosent care if we could become 10 yrs younger by watching the show, if only a small amount watched it. Problem 2: Just because you tell people to watch it, dosen't mean they will. Humans have very short memory spans. We think about one thing, and then our attention changes quickly to something else. If you tell someone to watch the show on a sunday...by the time it comes around to Wednesday, they'll have forgotten about it!

Here are some GOOD things to actually raise ratings
1. Call people you know right before the show on Wednesdays, and ask if their watching anything. If thier not, tell them that they should check out BoP,. Tell them the channel, plot some actors and actresses( Ashely Scott for Sci-Fi fans, and Shemar Moore for soap fans) and tellguys that thier are hot girls.( that should interst them more that gilmore girls on Global)
2. If you have Kazaa. Download episodes of BoP and send them to people. Include a blurb of what the show is about, and other things mentioned in number 1. Also send the to the email adresses of Jordan Levin, Tollin Robbins, and so on.
With Television stations, Ratings are crucial. They get tons of mail every HOUR, and only about third of that actuall ygets read by the Producer. (thats what secretary's are for) So tell people, and DO something about the RATINGS AS WELL AS sending letters and emails and phoning. If you really wanna save birds of Prey... do these things!!!!
