I was going to buy the dvd set today but I have been reading about the music changes. Even the theme song has been changed. Is this true? I guess I will not be buying it after all and will just keep my vhs copies.

A lot of shows have their theme songs changed (I mentioned in another thread that "Married With Children" had ITS theme song changed. :( )
I'm keeping my bootleg DVDs, tho.

I will buy it if the theme song is still there "I'd Start A Revolution" but not if it is not. It just would not be the same. I can't imagine why they had to replace it. Has anyone actually watched the series on dvd and know for sure if it was replaced? I was so looking forward to my favorite show being on dvd.

the show was much more than a song, and the song was just for the introduction, never in an episode... so the real fans would buy it to keep a memory of our biggest efforts: BOp on DVD

Mine hasn't come in yet, but I'm with seven.
I'll just keep the old cough*bootlegs*cough too.
I'll be more than happy to upload high quality versions of the original theme and the final scene in Devil's Eyes.

Yes, the theme song has changed.
It's a horrible replacement.
I'm half-tempted to return this to Target.
I know other friends who heard about the music change and have since refused to buy the DVD.

I get where you guys are coming from but like everyone else, I think we've waited to long for this to get picky over the songs playing in it, we're all here for the same purpose and that was to try and get BOP on DVD. I know it's tough but we owe it to the show and ourselves to buy it and show the WB that they should have given the show a real chance

I respect your choice beehearts but I completely disagree.
The purpose was in fact to get BoP on DVD, and to me that meant what I saw and heard in 2002-2003. There are many flaws with this set, and its quite clear that TPTB just made this as quickly as possible once they decided to make it and just got it out with no care being put into it.
Whether its a fan project or an official Warner release, I want a DVD of BoP that actually has what I watched in 2002. All of it. I just plain don't feel like being complacent with this.

Yes, it's true. Just got the DVD in the mail yesterday. I'd Start A Revolution is no more as far as this version is concerned, although the credits still list the song as the theme. The song chosen for the theme is lyrically-speaking more appropriate, however, it's sort of Dawson Creek-ish. I'd rather the rocking song to open the show.
And yes, there are some other song changes, too. We saw four episodes and noticed one other song change so far. I guess Avril's people decided not to sell the rights to the song Anything But Ordinary. Unfortunate, because that song fit so well with the series. Oh well.
On a brighter note, the BOP DVD has awesome sound and visual quality! It includes the unaired trailer and every episode of Gotham Girls (which I can't wait to watch, btw).

I don't think it was any artist not selling their music. I think WB just would not pay for any music that would cost them any money. I'd Start A Revolution could not have cost hardly anything since it was never officially even released and all the other music could not have been much. Then you have the non-anamorphic transfer. It will not matter until you try watching it on an HDTV. Then you will notice a big difference. There is no excuse for this in 2008. I wanted this series more than any other series on dvd and I have several hundred tv series sets. This sounds like the cheapest job done on dvd yet. I guess I will try it out in a week or so when I find it for sale used for $10. I bet a lot of people get rid of their copies. I am so disappointed and depressed about this.

There are a lot of people who have never seen the show AT ALL.
Need I remind everyone that it first aired on The WB -- an itty-bitty network with a teeny-tiny viewership?
If the theme song change is truly that much of a bother to anyone, just fast-forward through it. :)

My question is... on couple of the ending credits (disc 2 after Split, is where I first seen it) it gives credit to Amiee Allen for "Revolution". but her song isn't on it... why give credit when it isn't on the DVD.... I like it just for the fact that if someone didn't know it (which most of us do) they now will. I just found this weird and had to share.

ljnt99 - Look at it from their aspect. Why spend money changing the credits, right? Better off to leave it in there and maybe people won't notice. After all, in an ADD society like the one we live in now, how many people actually look at the credits on a series compilation DVD? ;)

Well guys we have waited so long for this moment, to watch BOP in our homes again. I knew that some songs were going to change, and that didn't stop me. It is disappointing that things had to change, but without these changes, me may not have it. And besides, the new theme actually grows on you. I like it.

You got a good point. That's would be a good reason to leave it in there. Should have guess money would be the first and for most reason to leave it in there.

So I finally watched the entire series (excluding the Gotham Girls part of it) but I found that even though the songs had changed for the theme and the final fight, I was most dissapointed with the new theme song. At least the song that they chose for the final fight fit in well with it, but the into theme song is a total copy of dawson's creek and the show is anything but. But I must say the graphics on this dvd are amazing! =] BuY iT nOw!

OK all of you convinced me to just buy the dvd set. I went to Best Buy but they were sold out so the only place I can buy it is from Amazon. No other stores carry it. I should have it in a week. My solution to the replaced theme song is to have my video tape ready at the moment the theme song starts for each episode. That will work for me until I find a better solution. I just love BOP so much not to have the dvd set even with all the problems.
